Within the world of the Broadband, TV, the Set-Top, Mobile and PVR experience, searching for content, making accessible the content and at the same time, offering an advertising and marketing experience is our challenge. Everything from blogging and Podcasting to Interactive TV is altering the user experience completely. The industry is finding a ready audience with an ever growing demand for better content and a better and a completely personalized experience. With the massive amount of content and technology being thrown at the consumer, navigating through that experience is not only difficult, it can be off-putting. We have entered the world of integrated user experience – the post-TiVo generation of consumers and viewers who are watching and listening to new forms of content on new platforms of technology.

John Roberts, Vice President, Product Development, CNET News.com, CNET Networks Inc.: John Roberts is the vice president of product development for CNET News.com, the leader in technology news and winner of the 2004 National Magazine Award for General Excellence Online. Roberts introduced the CNET News.com RSS feeds (http://rss.news.com/) in early 2000. During his 12 years of professional online experience, Roberts has developed membership and personalization systems for Snap.com/NBC Internet. He worked at The Atlantic Monthly, first as a staff editor, and then bringing the award-winning magazine online, first on AOL (1993) and then the web (1995). Chase Norlin is the Founder and CEO of Pixsy Corp. Prior to Pixsy, Mr. Norlin was a Senior Business Development Consultant to InfoSpace and VP of PR at Mercent. Mr. Norlin has a deep background in the online media space having been responsible for creating Sony's first online photo sharing venture. Additionally, he founded the Web's first online photo and video sharing company and was a New Venture Consultant to Boeing where he helped launch Boeing's online media licensing division. Mr. Norlin received his BA from UC Berkeley and MA from the University of Chicago.

Michael W. Geoghegan is a consultant, author, and entrepreneur who is widely regarded as one of the podcasting pioneers. Michael's company, Willnick Productions, developed some of the first corporate podcasts, including the official podcast of the Disneyland Resort. Michael's other podcasts include "Reel Reviews: Films Worth Watching," a show dedicated to the discussion of feature films available on home video, and "Grape Radio," a top-rated podcast about wine. He is also co-author of "Podcast Solutions: The Complete Guide to Podcasting." Michael’s newest venture is PrivaCast, a first-of-its-kind enterprise level solution for secure corporate and organizational podcasting. Michael speaks frequently on podcasting's impact on new media and its corporate applications. He has been featured as a podcasting expert for dozens of media outlets including The New York Times, USA Today, CNN, NPR, and Wired Magazine.



Richard Sharp is Founder and CEO of PodChannels, provider of online podcasting management, syndication and monetization services to radio broadcasters and other media networks. For over 15 years, Richard has been an entrepreneur, software developer and interactive digital media producer specializing in building "content focused" communities and distribution platforms for music, radio and television. Through his company SharpMedia, Richard has produced Internet, Intranet, Extranet and e-commerce web sites, national point of purchase kiosks, LBE virtual reality projects, CD-ROMs, wireless search, live interactive webcasts and hybrid television/Internet projects. Firsts include: producer of first M-Bone webcast in Canada, producer of Canada’s first digital media awards, producer of first web site in the world acquired by a national archives, producer of Canada’s first live web-to-TV broadcast, founding member of Canada’s Interactive Association and founding board member of Ontario Media Development Corporation. Recent projects include: Snake & Butch – an animated television & mobisode cartoon series (in development), LiveMusic Network - an online community for music artists, industry players, portals and fans (in development), War2Music - an award-winning hybrid television/on-line documentary produced with partner Much Music.

Michael Markson brings to Topix.net many years of transactional experience, both from a business and a legal background. Prior to Topix.net, Michael was the General Counsel and Director of Business Development for Terraspring, Inc. While at Terraspring, Michael led the company's strategic partner program, forming valuable alliances with entities such as HP and EMC. In addition, Michael headed the efforts involved with the final sale of the company to Sun Microsystems. Prior to joining Terraspring, Michael was a transactional attorney for the New York offices of Brown & Wood. Michael has a BA in Economics from Wittenberg University, a JD from Capital University Law School and an LLM from Georgetown University Law School.





Michelle Robertson serves Musicane in the capacity of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) where she oversees all strategic marketing endeavors aimed at providing stakeholders, including artists, record labels and content aggregators, with a compelling digital storefront solution, while simultaneously growing the company's customer base. Musicane's agnostic commerce solution empowers rights holders and content aggregators alike with their storefront solution, which features a powerful set of commerce and marketing tools to offer digital downloads for purchase directly from their own web sites. Prior to joining Musicane, as a co-founder of MP3.com in 1997, Michelle Robertson was at the forefront of the digital media revolution from its inception. Under her guidance, MP3.com captured news headlines around the globe by making history with the precedent-setting business approach to empowering independent artists to embrace the Internet and sell their music globally. Ms. Robertson grew the artist roster to approximately 300,000 artists prior to the company being acquired by Vivendi-Universal. Other endeavors include a successful marketing consulting business where she worked with a variety of media companies worldwide and contributed to their digital presence and strategy, increasing customer conversion and retention. Prior to that, she worked with Motorola, among other ventures. Because of her progressive accomplishments, her marketing capabilities have contributed to press results reaching The New York Times, Reuters, MTV, Rolling Stone, USA Today, Billboard, among others. She has appeared at and/or produced numerous prominent industry events, including MP3.com Summit, SXSW, Club MP3.com Tour (a nationwide tour of MP3 recording artists) NY Music Internet Expo, among others.

Patty Mitchell, Vice President Worldwide Sales, Six Apart (TypePad, Moveable Type & LiveJournal): Responsible for new advertising, sponsorship and partnership revenue for internationally acclaimed Six Apart, the company behind the weblogging tools TypePad, Moveable Type and LiveJournal, Patty Mitchell has nearly twenty years of retail and sales management, media, marketing, and Internet expertise. At Six Apart she will launch a new ad-supported model for LiveJournal, allowing marketers and content providers new access to this huge, and yet hugely difficult to reach permission-based gated community. Patty will also be developing innovative new models of advertising for Six Apart’s latest offering currently schedule for release mid-year. Later this year, Six Apart will be introducing a new web sharing and social communication tool for the next generation of mass consumer web authors and life recorders that will be ad- and sponsorship-supported. Prior to joining Six Apart in January 2006, Patty directed overall sales initiatives and strategy for Knight Ridder’s Real Cities Network, the largest national network of more local news and information web sites. She manages a nationwide sales and marketing organization and supervises the team that develops affiliate publisher relationships and she has spearheaded Knight Ridder’s first cross media initiatives with national advertisers. Previously, Mitchell served as vice president of sales and marketing at CarSoup.com, an automotive shopping portal, General manager for Ticketmaster Online-Citysearch, she managed an award-winning staff of content editors, producers, and photographers, as well as marketing, operations and sales personnel. While at Citysearch, Mitchell appeared on numerous radio and television broadcasts as an Internet expert. Mitchell served on the board of directors for the Internet Advertising bureau, speaks at online industry conferences. An honors graduate of Carleton College with a BA in psychology and film studies, Mitchell lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Peter H. Kang, Esq., Partner, Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP: Peter Kang is a Partner in the San Francisco office of the global law firm of Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP. Mr. Kang joined Sidley’s Intellectual Property practice group in 2003 (ranked in the top 3 nationwide by American Lawyer magazine), devoted to serving the IP and related legal services needs of technology clients. Mr. Kang counsels clients in patent disputes; technology transfer and IP licensing; strategic IP portfolio development; patent opinions; and IP enforcement and litigation. Mr. Kang has served as an advisor to iPark (formerly known as the Korean Software Incubator), and is an International Advisor for Global Venture Consultants. Mr. Kang is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is a member of the California bar. Mr. Kang works with Fortune 100 electronics companies, software and Internet companies, and content/game developers in IP matters worldwide. Mr. Kang has also advised independent film directors/writers, artists, and novelists in copyright/trademark issues and related content-licensing matters. In addition, Mr. Kang is an experienced IP trial attorney, having represented clients in complex litigation and trials of IP lawsuits nationwide, including federal court patent jury trial experience and patent trial experience before the International Trade Commission. With over a dozen years’ experience in Silicon Valley, Mr. Kang has represented ecommerce ventures, online startups, independent software consultants, game developers (including MMORPG, traditional arcade games, and hardware developers), electronic mapping and software navigation developers, and gaming companies. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Kang was Managing Partner of the San Francisco Office of a nationally recognized IP boutique. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kang served as Law Clerk for the Hon. Ernest C. Torres, now Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Prior to law school, Mr. Kang worked as a software engineer for a biomedical research organization at Brown University. Mr. Kang served on the Board of Directors of the Asian Pacific Bar Association of Silicon Valley, and is a regional governor of the International Association of Korean Lawyers. He is an award-winning author and frequent speaker at industry and legal conferences. He received both a B.A. in Classics and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, where he won both the Fairclough Award and the Classics Department Senior Prize. Mr. Kang also received a Certificate of Merit from the University of London’s Institut Brittanique in Paris. Mr. Kang received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University.
