He is responsible for the overall MCS business line, including GPS, Bluetooth, mWLAN, and digital TV. In this role, Mr. Werp drives the business strategy, the MCS product solutions roadmap, and customer relationships. Previously, Mr. Werp was the Worldwide Director of Marketing for TIs Cellular Systems group. In that role, he managed the OMAP software platforms roadmap, software-system strategy and implementation, as well as the OMAP Ecosystem of partners and developers. During his nine-year tenure at TI, he has been instrumental in driving the companys success with wireless equipment manufacturers, such as Ericsson and Motorola. Prior to joining TI in 1995, Paul was a product marketing engineer for Hewlett Packards RF semiconductor division, now part of Agilent. In this role, he focused on RF products that played a critical role in the emerging digital cellular market. Werp earned a masters degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University and a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kansas.Gary Deutsch is GM of an incubator group within Bells Labs focus ed on mobile applications,particularly new technologies that will enhance the functionality of location based services (LBS), as well as optimize the interaction between applications and the network resources that provide location information. Prior to Lucent, Gary was SVP of Marketing and Strategy for AGT, a marketing services firm, and he was one of the orginal executives of Ztango, the wireless applications firm that is now part of Widerthan. Gary holds an MBA from Wharton.Larry Smith, Chief Operating Officer, ARCHOS: Larry Smith is the COO of ARCHOS and manages North American operations for the company, which includes setting sales and distribution strategy, driving strategic partnerships, and overseeing customer support, marketing and business development efforts. Smith has more than 20 years experience in the entertainment, technology and retail industries, and comes to ARCHOS from On Command Video Corporation, where he oversaw sales and operations for the in-hotel entertainment company. Previously, Smith was executive vice president of sales and marketing at IntelliReady Inc., a start-up venture designed to provide integrated home electronics services, and prior to that was cofounder and executive vice president of Internet Gift Registries, later acquired by Modern Bride. Smith has held sales and distribution positions in the satellite and cable industry at companies such as Echostar, Request Television, The Home Shopping Network and was one of the earliest employees at CNBC. Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Missouri. Boris Fridman, Chief Executive Officer, Crisp Wireless: Boris Fridman is a serial entrepreneur. He is a published author, patent-holder, regular speaker and seasoned executive with a proven track record of building and leading successful software companies in todays ever increasing mobile world. Boris is the CEO of Crisp Wireless, a provider of mobile applications and content management solutions for media and entertainment companies. Under Boriss direction, Crisp Wireless has become a major mobile solutions provider to consumer-facing enterprises in media, entertainment, sports, advertising, broadcasting, publishing and online retail. Prior to Crisp Wireless, Boris was the Chief Operating Officer of SJ Labs, a developer of award-winning VoIP software products. He was instrumental in raising its initial round of capital and in focusing the company on development of innovative VoIP solutions in the emerging voice over Wi-Fi market. Boris remains a Director of SJ Labs Board. Before SJ Labs, Boris founded and was CEO of Broadbeam Corporation, a leading provider of solutions that provide mobile personnel the capability to exchange real time information with an enterprise securely and reliably, resulting in increased productivity and greater business efficiencies. He led Broadbeam through its early high-growth phase and several rounds of funding to become a premier supplier of wireless middleware products to enterprises worldwide. Boris holds a M.S. in Physics. He is the co-author of the "Wireless Data for the Enterprise: Making Sense of Wireless Business," published by McGraw-Hill. He is also the recipient of an early patent in the area of wireless access to the Internet.Ahmad Ouri, President, Chief Technology Officer, Thomson Services Division: Ahmad Ouri is Chief Technology officer for Thomsons Services division, which includes all the Technicolor business units. Since joining Technicolor in 2002, Ahmad has been responsible for defining strategy and managing advanced technology relationships with Hollywood studios and other content owners as it relates to content distribution, content security, digital cinema and high-definition optical disc. Prior to his current position, Ahmad was President of Technicolor Digital Cinema where he was responsible for planning and executing agreements for a digital cinema rollout plan involving the Hollywood studios and U.S. exhibitors. He was also responsible for development of digital cinema services. Previous to Technicolor, Ahmad was Vice President and General Manager of MP4Net, a Business Unit of Philips Digital Networks, supplying standard-based MPEG-4 streaming solutions for IP delivery over wired and wireless networks. Ahmad holds two Bachelor of Science Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics and two Masters Degrees in Engineering (Instrumentation) and Business (MBA) from the University of Utah. Peg Jackson, Managing Director, NeoCarta Ventures: Peg Jackson join ed NeoCarta Ventures in May 2000. Her responsibilities include making investments in the technology sector and managing the portfolio. She is on the board of several companies, including DataSynapse, Silverpop, Cendura and Zoom. Prior to joining NeoCarta Ventures, Peg Jackson was Vice-President of Business Development at NBC. She joined NBC in 1996, where her primary responsibilities included making investments in Internet and Interactive TV companies. In addition she managed a production group that developed NBCs interactive TV programming. Prior to NBC, Jackson worked in the business development group at Reuters New Media, Inc., where she managed new acquisition and joint venture projects. Jackson was also employed as a Media Analyst for the Toronto Dominion Bank. Jackson received a BA in Economics from Georgetown University and an MBA from New York University. |
