Session II: A Virtual Event

The Creator Economy: The Economics of Social Media – The Algos, Analytics & Monetization

Our challenge is to deconstruct the mystery. How do the algorithms behind social media really work? The “Creator Economy” has effectively slayed the giant of “Hollywood Entertainment” with a combination of Youtube and a host of Social Media platforms and there is a “Secret Sauce,” a massive black box of “AIs, Algos and Analytics.” With billions of dollars at stake, this session looks to explore the intricacies of social media's inner workings. From the role of AI and machine learning to the impact of user behavior and feedback loops, we'll examine the complex systems that shape the online landscape. By demystifying the algorithms, we'll uncover the hidden patterns and principles that govern success in the Creator Economy – and provide creators with the insights they need to thrive in this rapidly evolving landscape.

Adrienne Lahens is a recognized leader across the creator economy and generative AI. She is the founder of a stealth startup building a new platform for AI-powered storytelling, and the author of The Imagination Age, a newsletter exploring the intersection of AI and human potential. Previously, Adrienne served as Global Head of Content Strategy & Operations at TikTok, where she built and scaled the TikTok Creator Marketplace (now TikTok One) and launched TikTok Symphony, the platform’s suite of generative AI tools. Before TikTok, she was COO at Influential, a global leader in influencer marketing that scaled 10x under her leadership, and an early leader at BuzzFeed, where she helped pioneer the first business models for branded content in the digital age. Adrienne lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their two children.

Paul Bakaus is a product strategist, creative technologist, and two-time founder who has spent the last 20 years building products that shaped how people create and connect. He created jQuery UI, which powered nearly 40% of all websites at its peak, helping usher in Web 2.0’s rich, interactive era. At Google, I helped establish Chrome DevTools as the daily driver for modern front-end and responsive design workflows. When I joined, DevTools was mainly used for JavaScript debugging. Through UX and feature innovation, we transformed it into the essential toolkit for over 23 million web developers worldwide, now critical for building and debugging today’s complex web apps. He also launched the Google for Creators program, bringing the popular Stories format to more than 100,000 publishers to make the web more creator-friendly. At Zynga, my game engine tech powered flagship hits like Words with Friends on Facebook. Most recently, I built Spotter Studio from 0-1 — creating and launching a paid, best-in-class SaaS platform for YouTubers to generate on-brand ideas, titles, and thumbnails using generative AI. He specializes in turning complex, fast-moving spaces into elegant products that feel effortless to use. My experience spans the creator economy, content ecosystems, developer platforms, and most recently, applied AI and generative UX. At Spotter Studio, I went deep — designing advanced AI workflows using state-of-the-art diffusion models, writing data-infused prompts with real-time personalization, and creating novel ways to blend rigid UI with flexible, chat-like interfaces. I also built orchestration layers for multimodal AI, pioneered generation quality evaluation methods, and collaborated closely with data science teams to shape custom AI models.

Ben Ganz is an AI entrepreneur and digital media innovator, best known in the tech world for launching Pookie Tools, aka The Hawk Tuah AI App, the first and largest celebrity AI app, which went extremely viral in November, generating 400M+ organic views and 10,000+ downloads in its first seven days—with zero marketing spend. In the entertainment industry, Ben is recognized for shaping the digital strategy for American Idol and FOX, pioneering real-time digital engagement for major primetime television shows. He was also the founder of VEGO Pictures, a digital-first production company that has worked with Disney, ABC, P&G, and Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, generating billions of digital impressions. Now, as the founder of Ultimate AI, Ben is pioneering Ultimate AI, a product redefining celebrity-fan engagement in the AI age,
