Mr. Folsom leads the Home Mobility Solutions business unit, which creates breakthrough products that connect consumers to people and content of strong emotional importance, enabling consumers to focus on connections with who they love and what is important – not the technology that enables it. Prior to his role, Barry James served as a strategic advisor to Motorola’s office of the CEO, helping to shape the company’s Connected Home business strategy. He has over three decades of executive management and strategic marketing experience with a successful track record of transforming companies into rapidly growing category leaders. During Barry James’ tenure as president and CEO of PlaceWare, the company became the fourth-fastest growing private company in Silicon Valley, delivering over 700% growth. At Exodus, Barry James drove a singular focus on Internet Data Centers, reducing the sales cycle by 50% and increased sales 400% in seven months. In addition, Barry James was a Sun executive during its four-year hyper-growth from $100M to $1.7B. As general manager of Sun’s 386i start up East Coast Division, Barry James built the team and its ease-of-use culture. In the early ‘80s, Barry James was an early personal computing pioneer and industry influencer. Known as one of Silicon Valley’s "gadget gurus," Barry James is often sought out for his advice on cell phones, PDAs, PCs, home electronics and home theater. Barry James has a BS Electrical Engineering and a MS Computer Science from Georgia Tech. He serves on Georgia Tech’s College of Computing Advisory Board and is an active mentor for Women’s Unlimited, a leadership development company for executive women. He’s married with four daughters and is an avid scuba diver.
