Internet Radio - Redefining through Personalization
Everything that is great about the Internet, personalization technology and entertainment merges in the application, Internet Radio. While it sounds exactly like regular radio, it’s content is like radio and even it’s interface looks like a radio dial, the really is, it’s a radio killer. Internet radio permits total personalization in an unlimited content entertainment environment. There’s no downside to it. As user access technology improves, it will simply permit the realization of a complete radio experience with greater interactive involvement and ease. Ultimately, this is a winning strategy for both the record industry and the technology industry - the creation of a massively satisfied user base.

Eric Rhoads, President and CEO, RadioCentral: As founder and CEO of RadioCentral, Eric Rhoads has made it his mission to champion the Internet as radio's next frontier. Having proven himself one of the world's foremost experts on radio broadcasting, Eric is now a forerunner and pioneer for Internet radio in an industry that is often reluctant to embrace new technology. In November 1999, Eric founded RadioCentral, an Internet radio network of custom radio stations for the Web's leading destination sites. The company was funded in January 2000. Innovation and vision have consistently characterized Eric's career in radio -- one that began at age 14. He has repeatedly demonstrated a unique ability to not only forecast trends, but to impact the way those trends manifest. While working as a music director, Eric developed many ground-breaking research techniques that are today considered industry standards. As a programmer, he brought stations to new ratings heights, programming 25 winning stations in only two years' time. While working as a deejay in Indiana and Michigan, he helped launch Y-100, a now legendary station in Miami, FL. At the time, Eric was the youngest major market radio talent in America. Eric owned his first three radio stations by age 25 which he sold in 1986 to found Streamline Communications Corporation, a company that manufactured remote radio studios for stations across the world. In 1989, Eric founded Streamline Media, which publishes Radio Ink, a leading radio industry trade publication. As the Internet represented a new direction for radio, Eric leapt at the challenge to make his mark in the developing industry. In 1999, he founded e-Radio magazine, the first publication dedicated to the convergence of radio and the Internet. The same year, he founded the Radio Ink Internet Conference, which took place in Silicon Valley to a sell-out crowd of over 600. The conference is now held twice yearly. In addition to emceeing his bi-annual Radio Ink Conference, Eric is a sought-after speaker for professional leadership forums and trade conferences. Most recently, Eric addressed a target group of financial analysts and technology press at the Annual Streaming Media Sector Analyst Forum sponsored by the newly formed Streaming Media Alliance. Under Eric's guidance, Streamline Media now publishes Streaming, the first magazine dedicated solely to audio and radio streaming via the Internet. Eric published his first book, Blast From the Past: A 75 Year Photo History of Radio in 1997 and has been published in the Columbia University Media Studies Journal. Eric is on the board of directors of the Bayless Scholarship Foundation, The Radio Hall of Fame, The Broadcast Education Association, the Way-FM Radio Network, and the National Association of College Broadcasters.
