| Wednesday, March 7 2:15 PM - 3:30 PM Session B: Portal Strategies - Delivering Entertainment and Information Content Anytime and Anywhere The technology industry can no longer be defined by its parts, the Net, the PC, the Wireless Device, the Set-top Box, the TV or even within the boundaries of a specific country. While each market exists on its own and companies can specialize in specific fields, the information and entertainment industries along with their technology partners must understand how to exist and perform within the spectrum. The phrases Anytime and Anywhere may sound overused by this point, but it seems to be the best way to explain what people need and when they need it. Portals to information and entertainment will be the controlling gateways to our future and the corporate giants, the partnerships and joint ventures to emerge in the technology and entertainment space will be the architects. In this role, she is responsible for managing all content and integration of content on the Lycos Entertainment Channel and also for the day-to-day management of programming and program content on Lycos Entertainment. Cynthia joined Lycos in its early infancy in 1996 as Executive Producer. She was responsible for building the original team of editors, program developers, and designers for Lycos and for leading the charter in the creation of Lycos as a commercial Web site and portal. Her immediate and ongoing projects include site development of Lycos TV (tv.lycos.com), a streaming media player; Multimedia Search and Content, a searchable directory of streaming media, photo and video search and download product; and the Lycos Entertainment Channel (www.lycos.com/entertainment). Prior to joining Lycos, Ms. Brown began her career in 1982 as one of the founding editors of PC magazine, the first consumer computer magazine to launch in America. With the sale of PC magazine to Ziff Davis, she moved on to spearhead the editorial and production teams for the founding of PC World magazine, a consumer-oriented computer magazine. After 10 years experience with magazine publishing, Cynthia served as Managing Editor of Osborne/McGraw-Hills book division where she was responsible for the innovation and publishing of Osbornes five series consumer list, comprised of 65 titles annually on computers, software and technology. Ms. Brown is a graduate of Boston University School of Journalism. She is married with 2 children and living in Brookline, MA. Bill Correll, Group Manager, Worldwide Market Development, Digital Media, Broadband, and Wireless, Sun Microsystems: Bill, a fifteen year veteran of the computer industry, has been responsible for leading and shaping Sun Microsystems digital media market strategy for the past five years. He has been directly responsible for Sun's push into streaming media, content and rights management, webpublishing for broadband and wireless networks, and interactive television. Bill has appeared on numerous industry panels and forums as an expert in digital media trends and business model evolution. Prior to joining Sun, Bill traded fixed income securities with Morgan Stanley in New York. He has an MBA from Duke University and and undergraduate degree from Bucknell. Susan Bratton: Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Excite@Home: Susan Bratt on manages media sales, account management, operations and trade marketing for Excite@Homes media business. Bratton focuses on one of the two critical growth areas for the Company media revenue. Her expertise is in building broadband and narrowband advertising revenues and inventing next-generation advertising models that span existing and future Internet platforms.Bratton held the previous role as vice president of Market Development handling the marketing integration of acquisitions including MatchLogic, Enliven, Blue Mountain Arts and Webshots in the post-merger organization. In her nearly five year tenure at Excite@Home, she initially pioneered the market of broadband advertising as director of the Interactive Advertising Group for the @Home Network and was responsible for deploying the first interactive multimedia advertisements on the internet using @Homes broadband capabilities. Brattons advertising background includes 20 years of high technology publishing and sales experience during which she has specialized in building new advertising products and properties and developed sales teams for successful deployment of new businesses. Before joining @Home Network, Bratton worked for Knowledge Industry Publications, Inc. where she was vice president and associate publisher of AV/Video and Multimedia Producer magazines. Prior to that she was the founder of Media Associates, a publishers representation firm in trade publishing. Bratton has served on the Board of the Internet Advertising Bureau as Vice Chairman and was also appointed to the FAST (Future of Advertising Stakeholders) Forward Steering Committee from 1997-2000. She was recognized by Advertising Age magazine as one of the top 25 most influential professionals in the online media space. Bratton is also an oft-featured speaker at industry-wide conferences fulfilling nearly forty engagements covering the future of online media. She holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She is married to a dot-com founder; the couple has a daughter and lives in Los Altos, California.Deepak Srinivasan, CEO, enScaler: Mr. Srinivasan is the Founder and CEO of enScaler. He has extensive entrepreneurial, marketing and technology experience with over 15 years in broadband, home networking, consumer video applications, consumer marketing and strategic information systems. Prior to enScaler he was with ShareWave, a startup pioneering the home networking market, where he managed the wireless networking and video compression chipsets. From 1994 to 1997 Deepak held the positions of Director Product Marketing and Business Development with Elcom Technologies, a home networking startup, where he launched several products into consumer retail, OEM and service provider channels. From 1985 to 1994 Deepak consulted in software /IT in US, Europe and India. Deepak has a BS in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Kanpur (India). He is an aviation enthusiast and counts photography and geopolitics among his many interests. Natalie Boutin, Director & Subject Matter Expert, Sapient: Natalie Boutin is Director and Subject Matter Expert in the fields of interactive television. As Product Manager at Excite@Home, Ms. Boutin managed the definition, design and production of a content service for broadband interactive television. At TELE-TV Media, a now-defunct joint venture between Pacific Bell, Bell Atlantic, and NYNEX, she managed the development of a wireless broadband (MMDS) interactive television service, one of the first itv products to go to market. Ms. Boutin holds a B.A. in Social Studies from Harvard University. |
