MPEG 4 - the Next Standard in Streaming
With the introduction of MPEG4, media rich interactivity enters its next phase of activity. Each generation of technology enhances the user experience, affording greater flexibility, faster response, increased interoperability - simply making for a better product. The introduction MPEG4 brings with it the next generation of all media rich activities in digital form - video on the Internet will never be the same. Standards is the name of the game, and with MPEG4, the broadcast, Internet and entertainment industries will open a whole world of media rich user experience.

Elliot Broadwin, President & CEO, iVAST: Elliot is the founder and former CEO of OpenTV, which is a publicly traded (OPTV) provider of interactive television software and applications. His next venture was as CEO of S-VISION, a silicon imaging technology startup. Elliot has also held positions as General Manager of Thomson Consumer Electronics High End Color Television business unit marketing the RCA, GE and ProScan brands, and 9 years in Product Marketing, Program Management, and Engineering roles within the RCA, GE, and Zenith consumer electronics businesses. Elliot earned his B.S.E.E degree from Purdue University and is the co-inventor of a system for the network distribution of Internet content via digital interactive television networks.

Julien Signes is the CTO and product visionary for Envivio, Inc. a leading developer of MPEG-4 solutions for the broadcast industry. Julien has a long history of innovation and involvement with MPEG-4 and has been awarded 7 patents relating to the standard. In 1998 he was granted the "young investigator award" from the SPIE society of engineering for his contribution to MPEG-4. He chaired the scene representation (BIFS) group within MPEG-4 and is recognized as a leader in the design of this portion of MPEG-4. Julien graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Telecom Paris.

Peter Forman is president, chief executive officer and chief operating officer of Ligos Corporation, based in San Francisco, California.  As CEO and COO, he is responsible for leading the process of formulating company strategy and managing all aspects of strategy implementation.  In addition, he is responsible for ensuring the financial well being of the company and managing its key relationships with investors and strategic partners. Before joining Ligos, Peter was president at Intelligence at Large, Inc., a developer of internet telephony and IP videoconferencing technologies. Prior to at Intelligence at Large, Inc. he was vice president of Business Development at Image G, Inc., a special effects production house where he was responsible for developing Internet related strategy and business. Before that, Peter was founder, president and CEO of New Video Corporation, a pioneer in the development of video and audio codecs for personal computers for use in media authoring and training systems. He also held management positions with Deloitte and Touche Management Consulting and The J. Paul Getty Trust Art History Information Program. Peter holds an MBA from University of California at Los Angeles, Anderson School of Management and a BFA from California Institute  of the Arts.

Marc Ruxin, VP, Business Development, iVAST: Marc brings 9 years of experience in business development, marketing, strategic planning and venture capital to iVAST. Before joining iVAST he was the Vice President of Business Development at Eveo, Inc., a VC backed next generation streaming company. Prior to that Marc worked for WPP Group plc., where he lead the West Coast venturing effort, in addition to prior WPP operating company stints at (Ogilvy & Mather, Enterprise ID Group). Before WPP Marc worked in A&R at EMI Records. Marc has a BA from Hamilton College, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Alex Eleftheriadis, Ph.D., President & Chief Technology Officer, Flavor Software: Dr. Eleftheriadis is a leading authority on multimedia and digital video, with ten years of experience in multimedia research and software development. He received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and M.S., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in 1992, 1994, and 1995 respectively. Since 1995 he has been with the faculty of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University (currently on leave, as an Associate Professor), where he is leading a research team developing digital video and multimedia systems. Dr. Eleftheriadis has been one of the chief architects of the MPEG-4 Systems specification (ISO/IEC 14496-1), and has served as its Editor since the standard’s inception. He is also co-principal investigator of the ADVENT Project (http://www.ee.columbia.edu/advent), an industrial affiliates program at Columbia University who is purpose is to perform research on all aspects of digital video representation, communication, and description. Dr. Eleftheriadis is a member of the ANSI NCITS L3.1 Committee and the ISO-IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11 (MPEG) Group that develop national and international standards for audio and video coding. He has authored more than 60 publications in international journals and conferences and holds 10 patents (9 more pending). His awards include a National Science Foundation CAREER Award. He is in the editorial board of the Multimedia Tools and Applications Journal, has served as a guest editor, committee member, and organizer for several international journals and conferences, and has co-authored one book and four book chapters.

Ahmad Ouri is Vice President and General Manager for MP4Net (a Business Unit of Philips Digital Networks), a leading supplier of ISO Standard MPEG-4 streaming solutions. Prior to his current assignment, Ahmad was General Manger for Philips’ Video Server Division. Ahmad has 9 years experience in Product Marketing in the Professional Broadcast Market. Before joining Philips, Ahmad worked at Dynatech Video Group in the role of Marketing. He was responsible for introducing the first video server product into the broadcast market. Ahmad holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics and Masters degrees in Business (MBA) and Engineering (Instrumentation).
