In this session, we will discuss what it means to work within the current generation of handhelds and networks, addressing the 2G & future 3G environment as well as how the different device manufacturers have looked to make content, screen technology, audio technology, etc. a part of their ongoing services. Prior to his post at MobileWay, Mr. Peyret served as head of engineering at Sun Microsystems for Java technologies applied to portable products such as mobile phones. Mr. Peyret also served as CEO and founder of Integrity Arts, a software concern that specialized in secure system software for smart cards. In 1997, he arranged the acquisition of Integrity Arts to to Sun Microsystems. As head of R&D and business development at Gemplus, the worlds largest smart card vendor, Mr. Peyret initiated the European-funded ESPRIT project that led to the design of the worlds first RISC-based chip for smart cards. Mr. Peyret has also served the consumer electronics industry as general manager of Thomson Consumer Electronics (now Thomson Multimedia) Laboratories in France and Los Angeles, and as technical advisor to Thomson-CSF Ventures, the venture-capital branch of Thomson. He also sat on the board of VPL Research, the company founded in California by Jaron Lanier to pioneer Virtual Reality. Mr. Peyret holds a Ph.D from Ecole Centrale in Lyon, France. Curtis Sasaki is director of Technology Advocacy at Sun Microsystems where he is res ponsible for driving global evangelism for Sun's emerging technologies in the Enterprise, Wireless, Digital Television, Residential Gateways and Automobile industries. Prior to his current position, Sasaki was director of marketing for Sun's consumer technologies where he lead the definition and business strategy behind the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition, Jini Network Technology, PersonalJava and EmbeddedJava platforms, as well as channel partner strategy. While at Sun, he also managed the early JavaOS product line. Prior to Sun, Sasaki was a marketing director at General Magic which focused on providing easy to use communication devices and services. Before General Magic, he was a marketing director at NeXT Computer, responsible for both hardware and software technologies. Prior to NeXT, Sasaki held senior management positions at Apple Computer. John Todd, Principal, Thomas Weisel Partners: John Todd recently joined Thomas Weisel Tom Hunt, Vice President of Marketing, Pumatech: Tom Hunt is the vice-president of marketing for Pumatech. He was PUMATECH'S director of corporate sales before being promoted to vice-president of marketing. Mr. Hunt has been in the mobile computing industry for over 20 years, previously holding the positions of VP of business development for wireless industry pioneer Radiomail Corporation and VP of sales and marketing for DISCTEC, a mobile computing peripheral manufacturer. Mr. Hunt began his computing career at the White House serving in the Carter Administration, where he worked in mobile communications planning and architecture. He holds a bachelor's degree from Hofstra University. Barry Peters, Director of Emerging Media, Lot21: As Director of Emerging Media, Barry is leading the charge in wireless, Interactive Television and broadband development at Lot21. His group has been responsible for many of Lot21's new media initiatives beginning with the first execution of inserting live Web content into a television commercial as well as the first wireless advertisement placed on the AvantGo mobile portal. Prior to Lot21, Barry lead efforts in advertising, product marketing, and marketing database management as Vice President, Marketing for Egghead.com (formerly Onsale.com). There he developed the second largest e-tail database online with over 6.2 million customer records. Barry also sits on the Board of Directors for the Wire Advertising Association where he addresses major challenges facing the wireless advertising industry including technical, business, creative, measurement and privacy issues. |
