Pallavi Shah, Market Segment Manager, Digital Video Infrastructure, Sun Microsystems: Pallavi Shah is responsible for recruiting and managing strategic partners for Sun in the digital video infrastructure market. Since joining Sun in 1995, she has been involved in bringing key components of Sun's advanced digital media technology to market. She chaired ISO's MPEG4-Java standards group and formed multi-company alliances to promote Java and protect Sun's strategic interests. Prior to Sun, Ms Shah was with the Sarnoff Corporation (RCA research lab). She represented the HDTV Grand Alliance during the development of HDTV and pioneered the world's first E-Commerce application of interactive HDTV at NAB-95. She has served as a panelist/speaker at several industry conferences, published papers and has several pending patents. She hold M.S. from Utah State University.

Mark Myers is Director of Product Marketing at Convera (formerly Excalibur Technologies). Convera offers a range of products and services that enable organizations to unlock the value of digital content—inside or outside the firewall and in any digital form. In five years with the company, Mark has played a key role in the development and marketing of Convera’s intranet, Internet and multimedia products, including the successful launch of Screening Room, a comprehensive, integrated solution for capturing, searching, viewing, editing, and publishing video content. Mark has a total of 17 years software industry experience, including a variety of marketing positions. At Visix Software, Mark was Product Manager for Galaxy, a cross-platform development environment offering multimedia development capability for the X Windows System. Mark also served as Product Marketing Manager at Applix, the first software vendor to offer live-linked multimedia objects in word processing, e-mail and spreadsheet documents.

Michael Gordon, co-founder & CEO, Axient: Michael Gordon co-founded the company and is CEO and a member of the Board. Prior to co-founding Axient, Mr. Gordon founded Cyclone Commerce, Inc. and Gateway Data Sciences Corporation. Mr. Gordon was a marketing representative with IBM and worked in the commercial lending division of National City Bank. Mr. Gordon received a BS in Finance from Ohio State University. Axient Communications is a privately held corporation headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz. that has reinvented the Internet user experience by delivering the Octane media-quality experience via its next-generation Internet network. Octane is a dramatic change in the quality of the Internet experience for Internet users and audiences of its direct customers - content providers, commerce companies, ISPs and enterprise customers. Carlos Montalvo is the Chief Marketing Officer at Virage, Inc. Carlos joined Virage in 1998 to lead their product and marketing organizations. Over the past two years he has helped Virage bring to market such products as the Virage VideoLogger(TM), the Virage Video Application Server(TM) and the Virage Internet Video Guide(TM). Today, these products are redefining how content owners publish, manage and syndicate video on the Web. Prior to joining Virage, Carlos was corporate vice president of Apple Computer's Interactive Media Group, where he was responsible for Apple's suite of QuickTime technologies and products, including QuickTime, QuickTimeVR, QuickDraw3D and QuickTimeTV. As director of marketing for Apple's Entry Systems division, he led the product management and introduction of Apple's first integrated video-in/video-out architecture for consumer PCs. Prior to Apple he held several positions at Xerox, including program lead for the Xerox J-Star project. Carlos began his career in government service where he served as a presidential appointee with the Reagan Administration and held several positions at the National Science Foundation.



Roy Stewart, Vice President, Interactive Services: Roy Stewart is Vice President of the Interactive Services Practice for The Bulldog Group Inc. The Interactive Services Practice focuses on leading content producers, aggregators and distributors targeting emerging markets for delivering interactive content via the Internet, Broadband and Interactive Television. The Interactive Services Practice enables leading technology companies to implement a comprehensive end to end solution for the management and delivery of content from creation to final delivery whether via a set top box, cable head end or internet site. Early customers focusing on this market include Discovery.com, Open Interactive and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Prior to his current role, Mr. Stewart was the VP of Sales for The Bulldog Group Inc., pioneering Bulldog's early efforts for media management and eBusiness for the entertainment, broadcast and music industries. Over the years, Mr. Stewart has held a number of senior positions in the computer industry. Mr. Stewart was VP of Sales for ATI technologies, the world's leader in manufacturing video accelerators for the PC industry; General Manager for Canada for Aldus Software (since acquired by Adobe Systems), a leading supplier of publishing, graphics arts and video effects software and VP Enterprise Markets for Apple Canada. Mr. Stewart has earned a M.B.A. and BSc from Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada.

Philip DesAutels, Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ereo, Inc.: Building the most relevant rich media search engine in the world - this is Philip DesAutels goal as a founder of Ereo and its chief technology officer. Responsible for the company's entire technology base, Philip leads a team of world-class engineers as they create the future of searching on the Internet. Philip brings extensive high-level experience and expertise in the technological realm to his role at Ereo. Most notably, he spent time as a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he worked with Tim Berners-Lee as a project manager of the World Wide Web Consortium (www.W3.org) responsible for W3C's work on digital signatures and privacy on the Web. Philip led the development of Web standards in security, metadata, privacy and child protection. He joined W3C after working for Andersen Consulting, IBM and John Hancock where he was a project manager and management advisor. While with John Hancock, Philip reorganized the corporation's IT department and operations processes. In addition, he served as a senior engineer at IBM, responsible for the development of an Artificial Intelligence-based order configuration system. He also spent a year with the United States Peace Corps in Uzbekistan, where he helped to establish an electronic mail infrastructure, taught business computing courses at Namangan Polytechnic Institute and worked to develop other local industries. The author of a number of published papers on advanced forecasting and statistics, Philip's research interests are in the area of social interactions on the Web and trust. Philip holds an M.S. degree in Industrial and Management Engineering (IME) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he worked for the North East Manufacturing Technology Center and did research in exploratory data analysis. Prior to joining Ereo, Philip worked as chief scientist at MatchLogic, a subsidiary of Excite@Home. He was responsible for crafting and executing advanced projects in broadband technology and data utilization for the online advertising company. Married with four cats, Philip enjoys carpentry, sporting clays, and motorcycle riding when he is not pioneering the Internet.

Max Bloom is a streaming media consultant and founder of Integrated Streaming, a media services company based in Santa Monica, California. He has an extensive background in broadcast television and film as a writer, producer and technical director for major studios and networks including CBS, ABC, NBC, 20th Century Fox, and Sony (Columbia-Tristar). Max writes frequently on streaming media business applications for websites and publications including Streamingmedia.com and Streaming Media magazine.






Rene Seeber, Co-Founder and Chief Technical Officer, Cobion: As Chief Technical Officer Rene is responsible for the development of Cobion’s software applications, services and platform infrastructure in digital image searching, image analysis, video image capture, brand protection, and face recognition. He also directs Cobion’s product development strategies in concert with business partners and leading research institutions. Initially trained as an electronics engineer, Rene joined Heckler & Koch Automatisierungssysteme in Oberndorf/Neckar, Germany as an electrical systems engineer and software developer. He subsequently received his degree in mathematics with a minor in computer science at the University of Kassel. To further his international software experience he joined Waterloo Maple Software in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada as a lead software developer in portable multi-platform GUI development (UNIX & Windows), and software library design. Rene is the co-author of two books on C++ and object oriented programming, and the author of a technical guide to Windows NT.
