Much of what will be possible in the future home entertainment environment will depend on innovation in the compression technology sector. In this session we will address the limits of what technology can offer today and what we can expect to see a year or two down the road. He responsible for the sale and delivery of large Pay Television scrambling and compression systems to customers worldwide. Dr. Rubin is a founder of NDS which started in Jerusalem in 1988 as News Datacom. He has a B.Sc. in Physics and Electro-Optical Engineering from the Jerusalem College of Technology (1975), an M.Sc. in Systems Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland (1978), and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, in Medicine and Computer Engineering (1981). NDS Limited provides end-to-end solutions for digital broadcasting. The company is a recognized leader in digital video compression, conditional access and a pioneer in the field of data broadcasting. NDS is providing solutions and services to many of the current and planned satellite and terrestrial broadcasting systems now deployed or being deployed around the world. Among its clients are DSS-DirecTV in the U.S. providing over 175 channels of satellite TV to the entire U.S. Other clients are BSkyB in the UK, Globo in Brazil, Televisa in Mexico, StarTV in the Far East, Japan, Reuters and more. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rupert Murdochs News Corporation's and is News Corps high-tech arm. Kishore Manghnani: Vice President of Marketing, TeraLogic, Inc. Kishore joined Te raLogic in 1996 as a member of the core founding team. He has been responsible for defining the companys business strategy, strategic alliances and product roadmaps. He also has been instrumental in positioning the company into three market segments: digital TV, data broadcasting and personal TV. Prior to joining TeraLogic, Kishore was the marketing director for consumer products at LSI Logic Corp., where he was responsible for the company's set-top decoder, DVD and video games. He received an MBA from Santa Clara University, a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Hawaii and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Jodhpur. Kishore has spoken at several venues, including COMDEX, Digital TV, MultiTech, CES and Convergence.Giri Venkat, product marketing manager for the Business Line Video at Philips Semiconductors, is responsible for Source & Channel Decoding IC's for the worldwide Digital TV market. Since joining Philips in 1998, Giri has been driving Philips' DTV product roadmaps, and business development. Prior to that, he has spent the previous 7 years in semiconductor marketing in both the PC & Consumer Electronics markets with notable contributions in the area of graphics acceleration, DVD chipsets, and DTV systems. Giri has a BSEE from Temple University and has spoken at several industry tradeshows, including CES and PCI Conference. |
