| Monday, May 15 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM Session C: Digital Commerce: Monetizing, Managing & Maximizing Digital Content: Part I Content is what the entertainment and media industry produce, and the viability of the industrys future, rests on its ability to manage its content, control its distribution while at the same time making it available to an every larger customer base. And the Internet is at the crossroads of content distribution, from business to business transactions, to the unique massive challenge of business to consumer information that the entertainment and media industries produce and distribute every day. In this day long workshop we will try to understand the problems of content management, the needs of the respective sectors of the industry, explore case histories, understanding how some of the larger institutions have faced up to their problems and to take a close look at some of the problem solving and management tools at our disposal. Sales and Marketing, NHL National Hockey League Krishna Pendyala, co-founder and Executive Vice President, MediaSite, Inc. Dan Stone, VP and General Manager for the Media and Entertainment Division, Scient Mischelle Weedman, Director Product Marketing, Qpass, Moderator Joseph Jennings is InterTrust's senior vice president of marketing. Prior to joinin g InterTrust, Jennings consulted to venture capital firms, Mohr-Davidow, Sigma Partners, and InnoCal. He has also served as a market development strategy consultant to a variety of companies, such as Oracle, Seagate, and Sun Microsystems, Inc., and has been widely published in business and technology publications. As founder and president of Jennings & Company, which was sold to Grey Advertising in 1994, he provided market development strategy and launch programs for the IBM ThinkPad, Adobe Acrobat, Stac Electronics' Stacker, Red Brick Systems Red Brick Data Warehouse, Visioneer's PaperPort, and others. He is active as a co-founder or advisory board member of software start-ups Aeneid and OnDemand. Mr. Jennings has an M.B.A from the University of Washington and a B.A. with Honors, cum laude from Whitman College.Cornelius Willis, Vice President of Marketing, Qpass: Prior to joining Qpass, Cornelius was Director of Platform Marketing at Microsoft Corporation, managing the team responsible for marketing Microsofts overall systems strategy, including its Internet strategies. In this role, Cornelius was one of the most visible spokespersons for Microsoft, crafting and articulating its position and messages on a number of critical industry issues. As a nine-year veteran at Microsoft, Cornelius served in a series of increasingly responsible evangelism and technical marketing positions, including launching the Multimedia PC platform and managing the Visual Basic family of development tools. A graduate of Stanford University, Cornelius has over 14 years of experience in the IT industry. David L. Hoey, Vice President Business Development, InfoLibria: Mr. Hoey has 15 years experience investing in, and building, technology startups, with a focus on market assessment, financial analysis, and the structuring and execution of transactions. From 1985 to 1991, Mr. Hoey was on the Board of Directors of a publicly-traded, Australian venture capital firm, where he invested in startup biotechnology and computer companies. More recently, Mr. Hoey established the business development function at a technology startup, Molten Metal Technology, where he negotiated and closed transactions valued at more than $290 million that spanned finance, joint venturing, and licensing in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Mr. Hoey attended the University of Queensland, where he studied law and business. Kirk Loevner, Chief Executive Officer, PublishOne, founded the Company in January 1999 in Mountain View, CA. Mr. Loevner was previously President & CEO of Internet Shopping Network (ISN) where he grew the company from $5M in revenues in 1996 to $30M in revenues in 1998. Mr. Loevner conceived and launched First Auction in 1997, which was the Internets first real time auction business. Prior to leading ISN, Mr. Loevner held VP and General Manager positions at Silicon Graphics and at Apple Computer. He has a BSE degree in Computer Science from Tufts University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is currently on the Board of Directors for Freeshop.com in Seattle. He has served on the Board of Directors for CompareNet Inc. and the Software Publishers Association. Kenny Nova, Director, Sales and Marketing, National Hockey League: Kenny Nova oversees the sales and marketing aspects of the online businesses of the National Hockey League, including e-commerce, advertising sales and sponsorship, content licensing, and brand and direct marketing. Prior to joining the National Hockey League, Mr. Nova served as the Director of New Business Development at Random House and held positions at Time Inc. (consumer marketing stints at Fortune Magazine and Sports Illustrated), Harper's Magazine and PC Magazine. Mr. Nova holds an MBA from Northwestern University and a BA from Tufts University. Krishna Pendyala is the co-founder and executive vice president of MediaSite, Inc. (formerly ISLIP Media, Inc.) with over 15 years of experience in new media and digital video. Prior to starting ISLIP Media, he was assistant director of the Informedia Project at Carnegie Mellon University. Mr. Pendyala was also the founder of Visual Symphony, Inc. which developed networked interactive multimedia applications.
