Introducing the Evening Keynote
7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Ken Hertz, Partner, Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman & Warren, Hertz & Goldring, LLC
Ken Hertz: Expert in digital copyright issues, Hertz is a prophet of the new music industry, and one of the few feverish advocates of artists rights. Ken and Fred Goldring started their practice in 1989 as partners in the law firm now called Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman & Warren, Hertz & Goldring, LLC. Pushing them forward was the belief that a singular focus on supporting artists would build a solid business and avoid the conflict of interests rampant in the music industry. Bringing a unique perspective of how the record business works because he represents artists intrests and he has been an active participant in discussions affecting where technology will take the music industry. He is probably the only music attorney not working for a company that participates in the SDMI (Secure Digital Music Initiative) meetings, and has been activly participationg in this process. What sticks many observers is that when high tech firms and giant Hollywood companies gather to discuss how the future of media is taking shape, at many times Hertz and his firm appears to be amongst the only voices truely speaking on behalf of the artist.
