DVD Association Announces New 2006 DVDA Brilliance Awards
@ Digital Hollywood Europe in London, November 30, 2006

The DVD Association announces a new DVD competition, the DVDA Brilliance Awards, and issues this Call for Entries. The brand new DVDA Brilliance Awards compliment the DVDA Excellence Awards program, one of the industry’s longest running recognition events. Like the Excellence Awards, the new Brilliance Awards will be judged exclusively by peers; but unlike the Excellence Awards, the Brilliance Awards are a global competition that will recognize only one winner in each category as "the Best in DVD."

Complete details, rules, regulations and entry form can be viewed at
http://www.dvda.org

The purpose of the DVDA Brilliance Awards is to honor skill, creativity, and craftsmanship in various aspects of DVD production and authoring. The overall quality of a finished DVD title is considered, but the skills used in the production of each title determine which entries will win.

Each DVD entered in a category will compete directly against others in the one of six categories Using objective criteria, an independent panel of DVD practitioners assigns each entry a score of up to 100 points. A preliminary jury will pick the top three DVDs in each category and advance these to the International Brilliance Jury. The members of this Jury will be posted on www.dvda.org. This International Brilliance Jury will then view all the finalists and pick a winner in each category that will be announced at the ceremony. In addition, the International Brilliance Jury may designate a Grand Prize for the top DVD entered in all categories.

"Our members have been asking for a second totally different awards
program, preferably in the fall, to complement our spring program. This ensures that all DVDs, regardless of their release dates, can compete in these events," says Bernie Mitchell, President of DVDA. "We are pleased to hold our first DVDA Brilliance Awards as part Digital Hollywood Europe’s inaugural conference on Nov. 30, 2006 in London, England. The DVDA is a global community, and we are excited to be holding a DVD Awards program in Europe."

A $25 discount off the $150 entry fee
