In this session, we will take a look at what it takes, from a technological and financial perspective, to port content and applications into a wireless environment. Having architected large-scale Internet environments since the inception of the Web, he provides the leadership and experience required by WorldNows prominent mass media customers. Omars previous tenure was as Lead Engineer at Modem Media New York where he developed Web systems for Fortune 100 clients including AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, Chase Manhattan Corporation and IBM. During this time he was awarded Outstanding Achievement in the International Competition for Interactive Multimedia at The New York Festivals for building the Web-casting platform of the IBM Deep Blue vs. Kasparov event. Prior to Modem Media, Omar was a Senior Software Engineer at Neterra, Inc., where he completed pioneering work in Internet personalization and content management systems. Before that, he held positions at Interactive Imaginations, one of the first companies to leverage one-to-one marketing on the Web. Omar graduated from Hampshire College with a degree in Computer Science and Philosophy.Lorraine Harition, President & CEO, Beatnik, Inc.: The Web is constantly reinventing its elf in terms of infrastructure and new business models: It's a perspective familiar to Lorraine Hariton, who, during her more than 20 years in the high-tech industry, has been involved with companies whose products reflect key points in the timeline of technology itself, from IBM's mainframes to Network Computing Devices' thin-client technology to Verifone's e-commerce financial infrastructure. Having held key general management, marketing and business development roles at these companies -- including, most recently, senior vice president at NCD -- Lorraine understands that the once merely fast-paced high-tech industry now operates in Web time. While at NCD, Lorraine was responsible for all marketing, sales, and product management functions and helped close major deals with companies such as IBM, Sun Microsystems, Novell and AT&T. She brings these executive management and business development skills to Beatnik, where she has been instrumental in creating financing deals with investors such as Zomba and the Mayfield fund. Lorraine, who holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Mathematical Sciences from Stanford University, draws energy and inspiration from her teenage daughter, a fan of music on the Web.Tracy Trent, President & CEO, Stellcom: Tracy Trent brings more than 18 years of s enior technology experience to Stellcom. Trent provides strategic leadership and vision in managing Stellcom's rapid growth as a wireless systems integration firm. Before joining Stellcom, he was the Senior Vice-President and Group Manager of SAIC's e-Business Solutions organization. Trent managed SAIC's incubator portfolio of emerging businesses, including Automotive Network Exchange and a number of others. Prior to that, Trent was the group manager of SAIC's Health Solutions organization, which he grew from 70 to more than 746 people in two and a half years, as well as and the VP of Marketing for SAIC's Systems Integration organization. Prior to SAIC, he held business-development roles at Digital Equipment Corporation and Sun Microsystems. Trent holds a MS in Management of Technology from MIT's Sloan School of Management.Roseanna K. Marchetti, Managing Director of North American Operations, Wokup! Inc.: Roseanna Marchetti has more than 15 years of product management, marketing, and business development experience in the software industry. Ms. Marchetti joined Wokup! in May 2001 to expand its technology and business presence into the North American marketplace. Wokup!'s family of products enables m-commerce by ensuring any device wireless or not interactive and massively scalable mobile connectivity with any web content, applications and services. Prior to Wokup!, Ms. Marchetti worked at Netscape Communications in the Server Products Division which eventually became part of iPlanet, the alliance between Sun and AOL. Her emphasis was marketing the application server platform. Ms. Marchetti has also held product management positions at Sun Microsystems, ParcPlace-Digitalk, and a number of southern California software companies. Ms. Marchetti spent the early years of her career with Borland International in various product management and marketing positions. Leo Volfson, President, Inetcam: Leo Volfson, MS in Applied Mathematics and MS in Applied Mechanics University of Chicago, PhD University of California, formerly head of supercomputer center at Scripps Institute of Oceanography, most recently President of ACTT, Inc. (software design and engineering), principal in Moonlight Products (wholesale distributor of night vision and other electro-optical devices), specialist in applied mathematics, software engineering, electro-optics, systems configurations; lives in Del Mar, CA.Tony Sica, Director, Wireless Communications & Computing Group Marketing, Intel Co rporation: Tony Sica is a 22 year Intel veteran with an extensive background in sales and marketing. Prior to joining WCCG Tony held numerous marketing positions most recently the DPG/PCG Marketing Director. Prior to that Tony was the Mobile Module Marketing Director for MHPG and Hand-Held Marketing Director for MHPG. Prior to coming to marketing Tony was the Northern California Regional Sales Manager. In his spare time Tony enjoys golf, snowboarding, snowmobiling, horses and motorcycling.Carin Dessauer, Shapiro Fellow, George Washington University School of Media and Pu blic Affairs, and Principal, MC2--Multi-Media, Creative Concepts: Dessauer has been a pioneer and visionary in Internet journalism and integration. As an Executive at CNN, in-charge of the Washington Bureau and the record-setting political/election coverage for CNN.com, Dessauer initiated, secured and produced the first ever online news interview to date with a sitting President, President Bill Clinton, and the first and only online/on-air interview with President George W. Bush, then the Republican Presidential nominee. Reporting directly to the President of CNN Interactive, Dessauer had strategic business and budget oversight. Presently, in her fellowship, just held by esteemed journalist Helen Thomas, Dessauer is teaching a course on "Internet News." Clients of her media and strategic business consulting company include the Markle Foundation. Dessauer moved into the interactive arena when, as CNN Deputy Political Director, she was asked in 1996 to be on the original four-person CNN/Time AllPolitics.com board. As a member of the first CNN dedicated political team, Dessauer was instrumental in establishing CNN as a political coverage leader. Dessauer has 16 years as a multi-media (print, television and online) journalist and executive including work at ABC News and as a reporter for The Rothenberg Political Report. Earlier this year, her accomplishments were profiled by Working Woman magazine. Dessauer graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Bucknell University with a BA in Economics and Indepartmental in Communications. |
