Just as developing the content for streaming media has its own set of rules, so does the addition of the monetizing experience. As companies introduce and test various V-commerce plans, case histories with invaluable information is building up that can help the rest of us. In this session, we bring together companies active in the process of V-commerce in the streaming environment. She has full P&L responsibility for all sales in the U.S. and Asia. In her capacity as General Manager, Sarah is responsible for providing the tactical and strategic leadership for the Division's operations, including the direct management of Sales, Business and Market Development. Prior to her current position, she was the senior financial and operations officer for PictureWorks Technology, Inc, which she joined in 1995. Prior to PictureWorks, she spent 12 years at Household International where she served in a succession of positions with escalating P& L responsibility including the position of President, Household Bank and Director of Sales at Household Finance Corporation. During this time period, she participated in thirteen due diligence projects resulting in the successful acquisition of 7 institutions. After leaving Household, she served as a management consultant to several established and start-up companies in the Bay Area. He has worked on cutting edge Internet Infrastructure technologies including IP Mediation, web-based DSL service provisioning, web-enabled calling card architectures, etc. He has contributed to technology projects in several areas ranging from application architecture to project management and from IT strategy to business relationship management. He was also instrumental in defining the Deloitte Consulting e-Bus Solution for DSL deployments. Shailendra obtained his Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology at Bombay.( April 1998) Yaron Gissin, Vice President Interactive, IP Planet: Mr. Gissin joined IP Planet as VP Interactive and Content in early 1999. In this capacity, he established the company's interactive broadcasting line, created the syncast concept, and participated in securing a successful private placement to fund this project. Prior to joining IP Planet, Mr. Gissin founded Vizooal, a multimedia design-house that integrates high-end broadcast design with interactive web and multimedia. In New York, Mr. Gissin also taught New Media design at the School of Visual Arts, establishing the first TV-Internet creative professional course in the USA. Clients included BMG, CBS Sports, USA Networks, Microsoft, The Smithsonian, Packard Bell and others. Mr. Gissin graduated with honors from the School of Visual Arts, New York, with a degree in visual communications and interactive design. He is a former fighter pilot in the Israeli Air Force. Shari Glusker, Manager Revenue Services Strategies Group, Microsoft TV Platforms: Sh ari Glusker is manager, revenue service strategies group, for the Microsoft TV Group at Microsoft Corporation. In this role, Glusker sources partners, demonstrates services and builds business models demonstrating the economic value of Microsoft TV products. Glusker joined the Microsoft TV group in March 2001. She previously managed the Interactive TV Support Group for WebTV. There, she was responsible for working with key broadcast partners to create enhanced interactive programming and define revenue-generating features in WebTV products. From May 1999 May 2000, Glusker was manager of broadcast services for WebTV. Before joining Microsoft, Glusker spent 18 years overseeing the creation of film and video programming, as well as video-based interactive applications for a number of companies. While working in positions such as manager of the interactive TV design team at Silicon Graphics and senior producer at Colossal Pictures Glusker communicated with major advertisers, networks and cable channel operators nationally. Gluskers varied experience with different facets of the interactive TV industry enhances her ability to provide Microsofts multiple system operator customers greater convenience, depth and variety, while extending network operators business. Glusker has recently spoken at Digital Hollywood and at National Cable Television Association trade shows. Glusker holds a bachelors degree in product design from Stanford University.Matthew Devine is Chief Executive Officer of DG Systems, (NASDAQ: DGIT), the leading digital technology provider for managing and delivering short- and long-form audio and video content to the broadcast industry. As CEO, Matt oversees the operations and development of the three business segments that make up DG Systems: DG, the industry standard for the digital delivery and management of short-form audio and video for the broadcasting industry; StarGuide Digital Networks, which uses satellite and terrestrial technology to manage and deliver long-form audio to broadcasting networks and their affiliates; and, CoolCast, an Internet portal that broadcasts and aggregates join-in-progress and stored streaming TV-quality video and CD-quality audio. In this capacity, his responsibilities include developing and executing corporate strategy with the goal of improving operating results. Prior to these roles, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Chancellor Media Corporation (now Clear Channel Communications.). Mr. Devine co-founded Chancellor Medias predecessor company, Evergreen Media Corporation, with Scott Ginsburg in 1988 and served as a Director, its Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. During his 11-year tenure in radio broadcasting, Mr. Devine was instrumental in raising over $5 billion in public and private equity and debt to support first Evergreen, then Chancellors rapid expansion from 6 to 108 stations. He also supervised the merger and acquisition activity related to each entitys growth and coordinated Evergreens initial public offering in 1993. From 1975 to 1988, Mr. Devine held various positions in the finance departments at AMR Corporation, the parent company of American Airlines, first in AMRs Corporate Treasury Department, where he oversaw bank relations with over 200 domestic and international institutions, negotiated and administered short-term borrowings, generated cash forecasts and maximized corporate cash flows and later as Vice President/Treasurer for an investment management subsidiary. Marie Alexander, President & CEO, Quova, Inc.: As president and CEO, Marie is respons ible for company-wide operations and business strategy execution. Prior to joining Quova in October 2000, Marie served as vice president strategic relationships at Telocity, a leading provider of consumer broadband services. Prior to Telocity, Marie served six years at Vantive Corporation, a leading customer relationship management software firm, where she was part of the executive team that is credited with growing the company's services revenues from $2.6 million in 1994 to over $200 million in 1999. In 1999, as Vantive's executive vice president of services, she managed the company's successful merger with PeopleSoft. Before joining Vantive, Alexander was a pioneer in the EDI market at Harbinger. Initially the head of product management for their EDI product line, Alexander subsequently joined the executive team and is recognized with building the customer support and services organizations.Tom Des Jardins, Chairman & Chief Technology Officer, Lightningcast: As a founder of Lightningcast, Mr. Des Jardins held CEO/CTO responsibilities until recently assuming the Chairman and CTO role. An avid self-starter and innovator, in Mr. Des Jardins participated in several successful business ventures during his 20-year career. Leveraging his engineering and development background, he launched his first venture -- East Tech, a small engineering services organization. This firm specialized in networking software, simulation software for networks and several aircraft simulators. This was followed by the launch of Xylan/Alcatel's Northern Virginia office, where he served as the senior systems architect. During this time he designed and developed leading cable modem technology and led design efforts on several key products. Prior to Xylan, Mr. Des Jardins held key engineering and managerial roles at FORE Systems. In this capacity, he was responsible for managing the router QA group, and was a systems architect for the Inbound Technologies Group and OEM partnerships as well as evaluating proposed OEM equipment. He also designed key ASIC technology to implement leading-edge QOS on FORE's ATM switches and served as Lead Inventor on US Patent 5,936,939 "Early packet discard mechanism with adjustable threshold." Mr. Des Jardins has spoken frequently at national venues, and has authored numerous columns and papers. In addition, he was a contributing author to Multimedia Networking Handbook. Chris Bruck, Managing Director Europe, IP Planet: Dr. Christian Bruck is the General Manager of the companys European headquarters in Munich, Germany. His main task is to establish IP Planet´s Syncast, the pioneering software platform for the integration of TV and Internet in an interactive format, as the leading choice among European TV stations and broadcasters. Christian Bruck was co-founder and joint CEO (1994-1996) of Europe Online, an online service initiated by several major European media companies. As a renowned expert in interactive media, e-commerce and broadband technologies, he has served as a top management consultant for companies such as Bertelsmann, ASTRA and SONY as well as the European Commission. He contributes a perfect mix of vision, market knowledge, personal contacts and start-up experience, facilitating our task of establishing Syncast successfully in the European TV and broadcasting market. Syncast, by IP Planet is a very powerful and innovative software platform which will make the vision of interactive TV become a reality. Christian Bruck is a graduate of Keio University in Tokyo and Sorbonne University in Paris. He speaks four languages fluently, Japanese being one of them. Brent Roske began his career at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland, and has produced and directed many stage plays including the revival of Eugene O'Neill's Desire Under the Elms at the Sony Fine Arts Theatre in Chicago. His film credits include directing the new feature "Wheatfield with Crows" co-starring David Carradine, "The Casket Letters" for the BBC, and the feature "Playground Girls" that recently won the Best Film prize at the Showdance Film Festival, and will premiere theatrically in New York and Los Angeles on April 13th. Roske is also a Pixie nominated cinematographer, as well as a published songwriter. He has spoken at numerous engagements including MB5, the Arte Series, the iHollywood Forum, and was contacted by Senator John McCain to represent independent film makers during the Federal Trade Commission's investigation into motion picture distribution. He is a member of the Director's Board of Motion Pictures, a chair member for the Hollywood Charities Foundation, has served as the President for the American Federation of Film Producers since 1997 and is a frequent contributor to their website, FilmFederation.com. |
