By being held in conjunction with Digital Hollywood, "The University Project" will immediately expose and introduce its participants to the three days of sessions and the thousands of professionals in the entertainment and technology industries already in attendance at this traditional gathering place in Los Angeles. The "University Project" is a work-in-progress. As such, the Department of Entertainment Studies is interested in taking suggestions from attendees on how continue to develop new professional/educational connections and affiliations (and supplement existing ones) beyond the Digital Hollywoods conferences. Corporate Involvement - The University Project will look for creative ideas in corporate development, looking toward the future of entertainment and technology organizations and exploring their relationships with University and College programs, from scholarship to co-development concepts. Jane Kagon is the Director of UCLA Extension's Department of Entertainment Studies and Performing Arts, the largest and most highly acclaimed professional continuing education and training program for all sectors of the international entertainment industry. Considered to be the platinum standard for the certification of entertainment based training programs, the Department of Entertainment Studies serves as a central hub in a synergistic world-wide network of entertainment/education institutions. In her capacity as Director of the Department, Ms. Kagon is responsible for coordinating B-to-B custom programs on site and around the globe, as well as overseeing the implementation of over 500 courses a year in Los Angeles for approximately 10,000 enrollees. Prior to coming to UCLA, Jane was a long term production and development executive in Hollywood, working as Vice President of Production for Michael Douglas among other major producers, as well as being an independent film producer herself and a writer for interactive media, game projects and television animation series.
