Joe Ruffolo, Senior Vice President, Digital Media, ABC News: Joe Ruffolo joined ABC News in April
2011 as Senior Vice President, ABC News Digital.  He oversees the full spectrum of ABC News’ digital portfolio:  ABCNews.com, ABC News Now, Mobile, on-air show pages,  and emerging platforms. Ruffolo comes to ABC News with valuable experience and key roles across the media landscape.  Prior to joining ABC News, Joe served as Vice President of AOL.com and Head of Current programming in New York – overseeing the operations of the home page and leading all daily video series.   Earlier, Joe served as the Vice President of International Business Development  - working on content, distribution, and strategic deals to help establish nearly 30 AOL branded portals around the world.  He later moved into the Business Operations team working on large strategic initiatives and managing global operations and planning. In 2005, Joe worked at MTV Networks in New York as the Senior Director of Strategy and Business Development for the "Kids and Family Group" (Nickelodeon).  In that role, he led the negotiations and planning for paid and ad-supported video download and licensing deals for Nickelodeon and MTV Networks; and focused on strategy and business development for Nickelodeon’s Television, Digital, Consumer Products, Magazines, and Attractions (Theme Parks, Hotels, Live Shows). Joe Ruffolo started at AOL in Dulles, VA in 2000, as the Manager of International Business Affairs and Development, working on the creation of joint ventures for AOL in Japan, Australia, Latin America, Europe and Canada.  He later became the Director of Corporate Strategy leading several early broadband content relationships and working on the business plans and execution of several multimedia programming, communication, and commerce initiatives.  Joe started his career at CNN in Atlanta, where he worked in Strategic Planning developing new network concepts and programming, and later in CNN Interactive  doing business development and leading the planning and launches of several of CNN's local language sites. Joe received his Bachelors degree from Brown University and a MBA from Emory University.

Robertson Barrett, VP, Yahoo! News and Finance, Yahoo! Rob Barrett is Yahoo's! Vice President of News and Finance, where he leads programming initiatives for the company's category-leading properties. While at the helm of Yahoo! News, Barrett has emerged as a key player in the premier digital media company's groundbreaking partnership with ABC News, the development of a Washington, D.C. news bureau team boasting several blue-chip talent acquisitions from the news and political media space and the visionary behind Yahoo! News' unique, user-centric coverage philosophy towards the 2012 presidential race. Barrett also oversees Yahoo! continuously prosperous Finance property where 7.4 million people checked their stock quotes in August 2011, viewing 336 MM pages; more page views for stock quotes than the WSJ, Bloomberg, CNN Money, Reuters, MSN Money, AOL Money & Finance and Google Finance get for their entire content library. A media industry veteran, Barrett brings more than 15 years' experience managing online ventures. He most recently served as Chief Strategy Officer of Perfect Market, a Comcast-backed venture, where he was responsible for building relationship with major news brands for the organization. Previously, he was EVP of Tribune Interactive, where he managed the operations and strategic development of online properties in 40 U.S. markets, including latimes.com, chicagotribute.com, baltimoresun.com, and all Tribune news, entertainment and TV sites. He also was previously VP and GM of The FeedRoom Inc., an Internet news venture backed by NBC, where he oversaw the development of video-on-demand for NBC, Tribune Company, CBS and local station groups. He was also co-founder and operating lead at online ventures for Time Inc. (time.com), Disney (ABCNEWS.com) and Primedia (Channel One Interactive). He holds a BA from Duke University and a Masters from Harvard University.

Sharalyn Hartwell, Executive Director, Magid Generational Strategies™: Sharalyn joined the Magi
d Generational Strategies™ team in 2010. She was already a well-known generational expert and Millennial voice, writing a national column about Millennials for an online newspaper since 2009. Through the column, which has been featured a number of places including Larry King's blog, she quickly established a strong voice as a business-savvy Millennial who could interpret what research about her generation actually meant. She leveraged her column and professional experience to start her own consulting business to help companies showcase their brand to the coveted Millennial demographic. Since joining Magid, Sharalyn has broadened her expertise on Millennials to include Baby Boomers, Generation X and Post-Millennials (the generation following Millennials that has yet to be named). Her broad media background not only encompasses sales, marketing and new media journalism, but print, television, HD video and satellite technologies. She graduated magna cum laude in Communications with a dual emphasis in Print and Broadcast Journalism from Utah State University.

Marc DeBevoise, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Entertainment, CBS Interactive
: Marc DeBevoise is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of CBS Interactive's Entertainment division. In this role, DeBevoise oversees CBS Interactive's entertainment sites, including CBS.com, TV.com and Clicker.com, as well as digital content distribution strategies, and the development of both original and show-based digital content, applications and games. DeBevoise joined CBS Interactive from Liberty Media's premium subscription channel Starz, where he was responsible for the company's overall digital strategy and the digital initiatives supporting its film, television and digital original content properties. At Starz, DeBevoise also led the generation, evaluation and execution of business development, strategic investment, and growth opportunities for all of Starz' business units. Prior to joining Starz, DeBevoise held various roles at NBC Universal, in both Digital Media and Business Development, and worked in the Technology, Media & Telecommunications Investment Banking Group at JPMorgan. DeBevoise has been recognized on Home Media magazine's “Digital Drivers” list for 2011, The Hollywood Reporter's “Digital Power 50” for 2010, and Multichannel News' “40 Under 40” for 2009. DeBevoise is also a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. DeBevoise received his M.B.A. with distinction in Entertainment, Media & Technology and Finance from New York University's Stern School of Business and his B.A. in Economics and Computer Science from Tufts University.



Jeffrey L. Thompson is a media professional currently serving as Vice President, Digital Strategy & Business Development, Conde Nast Entertainment, which produces award winning cross-platform branded content from Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Wired, Conde Nast Traveler, Bon Appetit, Gourmet and others. His past experience includes serving as Vice-President, Global Business Development, Walt Disney Studios, charged with growing incremental revenue for the Disney, Pixar, Miramax and Touchstone releases by developing and implementing strategies to drive conversion to digital platforms, particularly Blu-ray disc, 3D and digital distribution platforms. In addition, Jeffrey has been involved in structuring, implementing and managing strategic alliances such as Director Alliances at Disney/ABC, leveraging his experience in Strategy, Product Development and External Alliances. In that role, Jeffrey helped launch the industry's first High Definition online player, participated in the testing and development of MovieBeam, an early competitor to Netflix, and worked on interactive marketing initiatives with multiple partners. He has worked with global brands such as LG, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Sony, Panasonic and others. In 2006, Jeffrey co-produced Schooled, a brand-funded back-to-school special distributed on ABC Family and Google Video specifically developed for cross-platform distribution and serving as a model for development of cross-platform content and the monetization of new advertising models.

Larry Gerbrandt, Managing Director, Janas Group & principal, Media Valuation Partners: Larry
Gerbrandt joined Janas Consulting in late 2010 as a managing director focusing on valuation and media/entertainment/technology sector clients.   A leading media and entertainment executive, research analyst and consultant for more than 25 years, he focused on the economic and strategic implications of the intersection between traditional media and emerging content delivery technologies. Background includes experience in film and video production, commercial photography, cable TV system operations and magazine publishing.  Joined Kagan World Media, a groundbreaking media research organization, in 1984.  As senior analyst and senior vice president of Kagan’s entertainment division, oversaw more than two dozen of its newsletters and databooks, led its valuation practice and was the creator of Kagan's definitive Economics of Basic Cable Networks database.  In 2000, after Kagan’s sale to Primedia, became COO  and led its integration into Primedia’s MediaCentral division.  Upon Kagan’s subsequent sale to MCG Capital joined AlixPartners to lead its entertainment consulting and litigation support practice.  In 2005 was recruited by The Nielsen Company to become SVP/general manager of Nielsen Analytics, focusing on emerging media technology economics and conducting primary research on consumer adoption of new media platforms.  Following Nielsen's sale to a group of private equity companies he formed his own research and valuation practice, Media Valuation Partners, in 2007.  Widely quoted as an expert on trends and economics in the M&E industries and has served as moderator of more than 200 Kagan and industry panels and conferences.  Have served as an expert witness and expert consultant on dozens of major litigations in the media, entertainment and intellectual property arena, including the landmark Katzenberg v. Disney case.  An award-winning fine art photographer and a graduate of Regis University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.  Author of two monthly columns in leading industry publications: “Letter From America” in Euromedia Magazine and the “Media Math” column in The Hollywood Reporter.
