Scott Drake, Vice President, CNBC Digital: He is responsible for setting the strategy and developing the multi-platform products the enable CNBC to provide real-time financial market news and information on-air, online and on mobile. Drake oversaw the launch of the successful CNBC Mobile Web site in June 2007, which has posted consecutive year-over-year growth since inception. This past June, the site closed its best quarter ever, increasing page views by 37% compared to the same time last year. (Source: Omniture) In the fall of 2009, Drake and his team launched CNBCs Real-Time iPhone App. Recently ranked fourth on PC Magazines The Top 40 Free iPhone Apps 2010 list and named by Apple as one of the best APPs of 2009, the CNBC iPhone App has been downloaded close to 800,000 times since launch. Drake has over 20 years of technology & software development expertise and has been with the network for more than 10 years. Prior to his current role, he served as CNBCs Vice President and CIO of Information Technology, responsible for all real-time on-air applications and analytics. Previously, Scott was the Chief Technology Officer for CNBC.com, responsible for building the technology organization and infrastructure for the site. Before joining CNBC, Drake worked as the General Manager at Bloomberg.com and was responsible for that companys web development. He was also in charge of equity derivative software development for Bloombergs professional services. Drake started his career as an equity quantitative analyst at Salomon Brothers Inc. Drake holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Rutgers College
Kathleen Sullivan is the Chief Marketing Officer for Verizon Digital Media Services (VDM S). She is responsible for leading the VDMS group's marketing strategy, product development and lifecycle management as well as successful execution in the market. She and her team are keenly focused on anticipating customer desires and responding to the digital media industry's rapidly evolving product and service requirements to drive value for VDMS customers, partners and Verizon. Prior to her current position, Sullivan was the Division Vice President for Emerging Market Development for Verizon Global Wholesale. She led an organization responsible for identifying and building compelling programs and products for new customer segments such as those focused on rich media content delivery and capturing market trends for existing global wholesale clients such as introducing cloud based services globally. Prior to joining Verizon's Global Wholesale organization, Ms. Sullivan held positions of leadership in Verizon Business and its predecessor companies. Her marketing roles included leading the Verizon Business Global Field Marketing team as well as product line management for Emerging Services. Direct Sales roles included leading the Verizon Business's Premier Accounts team for the Northeast as well as Vice-President for the National Accounts and Solutions Architect team. Ms. Sullivan joined NYNEX from Chemical Bank's Corporate Finance department. She has her BA in Economics and an MBA, both from New York University. Her office is presently in Basking Ridge, NJ.
Roger Keating, Senior Vice President, Hearst Television: Roger Keating runs the digital media effort for Hearst Television. His scope includes Hearst Television's station web sites, mobile television and interactive TV. He came to Hearst Television with a broad background in various sectors of the media industry. Mr. Keating has run large cable TV operations at Comcast and more recently at Time Warner, where he presided over the integration of the Adelphia acquisition in the Los Angeles Region. He ran the voice services business at AOL, and also ran the AOL Health and AOL Travel verticals. He led the formation of Comcast's Internet division in the mid 90's and oversaw the development of their high speed data business. And he was founder/CEO of a dot com in 1998 named "Zatso" that worked with local TV broadcasters to offer streaming video-based "personalized newscasts". Keating began his career after graduating from Notre Dame with an Industrial Engineering degree as an efficiency expert, working in factories and distribution facilities. After obtaining an MBA from Stanford, Mr. Keating worked as a strategy consultant at Mercer Management Consulting in disparate industries ranging from jet fighters to bakeries.
Brooks Tobey, Senior Vice President, Sales Solutions & Multi-Screen Development and Delivery, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., (TBS, Inc.): In this role, Tobey has tactical and strategic leadership of systems design, development and management activities for TBS, Inc. in the areas of ad sales, trafficking, billing and digital ad delivery and measurement across all media platforms. He is also responsible for centralized mobile and connected device solutions architecture, digital video distribution and video player technologies, including TV Everywhere. Tobey is based in Atlanta and reports directly to Trish Jones, chief emerging technologies officer for TBS, Inc. During his more than 10-year tenure with TBS, Inc., Tobey has managed ad sales systems and developed a linear trafficking system (Crossroad), digital ad systems, mobile operations and multi-platform distribution for the company. Previously, Tobey was product manager for McDonalds global store systems. He also worked with the Army National Guard in IT systems design and development. Tobey earned a bachelor of science in computer science from Regents College in New York, and a master of business administration (MBA) in technology management from the University of Phoenix. Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner company, creates and programs branded news; entertainment; animation and young adult; and sports media environments on television and other platforms for consumers around the world. Turner brands and businesses include CNN/U.S., CNN International, CNN.com and HLN; TBS, TNT, truTV and Turner Classic Movies; Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Adult Swim; and Turner Sports.
Rob Sussman, EVP, Business Operations, Development, and Strategy, EPIX: Rob Sussman is EVP of Business Operations, Development and Strategy of EPIX, a next generation multiplatform premium entertainment service owned through joint venture between Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA and VIA.B), its Paramount Pictures unit, Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM), launched in October 2009. Sussman spearheads the distribution strategy and business development efforts as well as managing day to day operations and launch of the service. Sussman has over 20 years of experience in the media industry, most recently serving as the SVP of Program Enterprises for MTV Network's music group, where he was responsible for operations and strategy for consumer products, including radio, ecommerce, licensing, games, home entertainment, and retail. Prior to joining MTV Networks, Sussman was President, New Media and acting COO of the Trade and DRTV groups of Gaiam, the leading producer and distributor of fitness and wellness video products and accessories. As President, New Media, Sussman oversaw the development, digital distribution, and day to day management of all media content. He also served on the Board of LIME Media and was acting President upon Gaiam's acquisition in July 2007. Before joining Gaiam, Sussman served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sundance Channel from 1996 to 2006. As one of the founders of the Channel, Sussman wrote the business plan, raised equity capital, and launched the Channel, which was sold to Cablevision for $500 million. In addition to his day to day financial responsibilities, Sussman managed business development, ancillary revenue generation, administration and operations. Sussman was also previously Vice President of Corporate and Business Development at Showtime Networks, joining Showtime in 1990 and holding numerous positions in the Finance group throughout this tenure. Sussman also served as a Senior Analyst in the Corporate Treasury Department at Viacom, joining in 1988. Sussman holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. degree in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Dan Sacher, Vice President, VH1: Dan Sacher is Vice President of VH1 and Logo Digital, overseeing the strategy, creative direction, content development and production for VH1 and Logos digital properties VH1.com, VH1Classic.com, LogoTV.com, VH1 and Logo Mobile and various vertical sites including VH1s TheFABLife.com and BestWeekEver.tv and Logos AfterEllen.com, AfterElton.com, Downelink.com, 365Gay.com, TripOutGayTravel.com and NewNowNext.com. Since moving into his role as Vice President, VH1 & Logo Digital in June 2009, Dan has overseen the launches of several successful mobile applications including VH1s I Love The 80s & 90s Trivia apps, which have been downloaded close to 800,000 times in less than one year and Logos popular Downelink iPhone app. Downelink also currently holds the title of MTV Networks most-trafficked mobile site. Prior to his role at VH1 and Logo, Dan was Vice President, Online Production, Logo Digital. He also held the position of Creative Director at HBO Online/Business Development where he oversaw interface development for HBO Go and online gaming and was a Senior Producer role at Razorfish in New York. Dan is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and lives in Brooklyn with his family.
Rob Underwood serves as the National Senior Sector Specialist for Deloitte. In this role, Rob works to develop and refine Deloitte's Media & Entertainment offer and market strategy across Deloitte's distinct US businesses (Consulting, Audit & Enterprise Risk, Financial Advisory, and Tax). Previously Rob served in Deloitte's strategy practice where he led sales and market strategy engagements for many of Deloitte's premier TMT (Tech-Media-Telecom) clients. Much of Rob's client work has been focused on helping media and technology companies anticipate and plan for the evolving ecosystem within which TMT companies now must go to market - a market where traditional distinctions between media and high-tech are rapidly going away. Rob has written about and been cited in the press on the topics of collaboration, channel strategy, and social media. Rob was the lead author of a Deloitte white paper on the use of new media and social networking by presidential campaigns and potential lessons for corporations and private enterprise, and is currently in the process of a new research project around how social movements and disaster responses can be incubators to innovative modes of social media use. Rob is also presently leading a major new Deloitte study on the topic of tablets and their impact on media consumption patterns. Rob is a graduate of Colby College and lives in Brooklyn with his wife and 3 children.
