Marc Ruxin, EVP, Chief Innovation Officer, Universal McCann: Marc joined UM in 2009, and leads UM’s global innovation practice across a number of disciplines. In this capacity he works with traditional media companies on cutting edge brand integrations, develops groundbreaking social media ideas, and collaborates with VC’s and emerging media start-ups to create digital opportunities for UM clients. He also leads media innovation across Microsoft products and services and uses his digital-media background to help enhance their brand strategies. Marc spent three years prior to UM in a similar role at sister company McCann WorldGroup. Before joining UM/McCann, Marc was Chief Operating Officer of The Mill Group, an innovator in commercial visual effects, and Beam.tv, the foremost digital asset management system. Marc was Executive Vice President of Strategy at Gyro International, a global leader in technology advertising and marketing. He also assumed the role of VP of Business Development at iVast, the originator of MPEG4 technology, and held a similar position at Eveo, Inc., one of the primary user- generated content portals. Marc also worked for WPP Group, where he was an MBA Marketing Fellow and ultimately led West Coast New Media Strategy for the company.






Kurt Smith
leads global Sales for Verizon's Digital Media Services business unit. Verizon Digital Media Services is creating a first of its kind automated, end-to-end digital media utility, from content ingestion to individualized unicast distribution. Previously, Kurt was with the Deloitte Consulting Media and Entertainment consulting practice. Deloitte is the only full service firm (Tax, Audit, Financial, Consulting) that has an industry focus on the Media and Entertainment industry, and Kurt is responsible for business development across North America. Previous to Deloitte Consulting, Kurt worked for BearingPoint, Inc. (formerly KPMG Consulting), and was responsible for leading the firm's sales efforts in the Media and Entertainment practice across North America. Kurt has over 20 years of experience within the media industry and has a strong background in developing and leading Services businesses. He has spent his career of managing senior level executive relationships and working with clients to diagnose their strategic, operational and technological issues and develop innovative solutions to address them. Kurt holds a BA and MBA from Babson College.







Beth Clearfield, SVP Digital, Media & Business Development, BBC World
wide: Beth Clearfield is responsible for the development of digital media markets for BBC programs - including EST, VOD, broadband, mobile phones, and high definition. In addition, she has a central role in determining business development activities for BBC Worldwide in the U.S. including strategic/commercial partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions, and new service launches. Beth was previously responsible for program supply for BBC AMERICA, and oversaw a department that serves as the central program information resource for all BBCWA sales teams in North and Latin America. A 16-year veteran of BBC Worldwide, Americas, Beth's accomplishments include the company's first deals with clients such as iTunes, Microsoft, Netflix, Amazon, Yahoo!, AOL, Real Networks, Here!, iN Demand, Azureus, and Akimbo. She worked on the conception of BBC AMERICA and BBC Worldwide's joint venture channels with Discovery Communications Inc. in Latin America. Before joining BBC Worldwide, America, Beth was Manager of the Story Department at CBS/Fox Video. She graduated magna cum laude from Yale with a degree in Economics and Political Science.



Tim Connolly
is Vice President of Mobile Distribution for Disney & ESPN Media Networks. He is
responsible for creating and maintaining strategic relationships across the mobile industry on behalf of ABC Entertainment, ABC News, Disney, Disney Channel and ESPN, with a primary focus on growing the distribution of mobile video and mobile web services with wireless service providers, handset manufacturers and others. Connolly and his team oversee account management, negotiate carriage agreements, and develop distribution strategies, including pricing, packaging and marketing of the company’s mobile product offerings. Prior to joining Disney, Connolly served as VP of Sales and business development at Ericsson, where he was responsible for delivering networks, applications and services to T-Mobile and AT&T. Prior to this role, he was responsible for Ericsson’s Applications business in North America. Prior to joining Ericsson, Connolly founded a telecom and media start-up as well as a gourmet coffee business. Connolly received an MBA and a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Maryland, as well as BA from Wesleyan University. He is based in New York City.




Marc Goldberg, Chief Technology Officer, EPIX: Marc Goldberg is chief technology officer of EPIX, the multiplatform premium entertainment channel, video-on-demand and online service that is owned by Viacom and its Paramount Pictures unit, MGM, and Lionsgate. In this role, Mr. Goldberg is responsible for the design and implementation of technology strategies across all of the EPIX platforms. Previously, Marc was the principal partner at Goldberg Technology LLC, a technology consultancy firm that he founded which helped multi-million dollar companies improve productivity and performance within the technology sector. Mr. Goldberg is respected for his expertise in technology architecture, Internet applications, CDN management, integration and organization management, video delivery, as well as his ability to bring technology projects to very large scale. Earlier, Mr. Goldberg served as CTO for Next New Networks, the leading publisher of original online television programming. He built the technology team from the ground up and guided the development and implementation of all advertising, operational, and corporate technology. This included hands-on development of the video content management system, integration of several CDN partners, integration of display and video advertising delivery platforms, automating syndication to partners and creation of reporting tools. Before joining Next New Networks, Goldberg was the Director of Web Services Engineering at Gemstar-TV Guide, Inc., the leading provider of television guidance products. He was hand- picked by the CTO to manage the redesign and launch of the next generation TV Guide portal and used his extensive technology acumen to address scaling issues, CDN integration, and instituted development processes and life-cycle management. Mr. Goldberg also previously held several positions in the Technologies Division at AOL. He built and managed numerous talented teams and organizations, all of which were tasked with scaling AOL's proprietary architecture on big iron Unix servers or commodity Linux servers. One of Mr. Goldberg's most impressive feats involved leading his team's Web Proxy Infrastructure to enable 3 million simultaneously signed-in members to access 15 billion URLs per day. Mr. Goldberg received his B.S. in Information Technology from American Intercontinental University. He resides in New York City with his wife, Shannon, and their new baby daughter.


Michael Quigley is vice president of business development & multi-platform distribution for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., focusing on initiatives such as TV Everywhere, Interactive Television, Connected Devices, Content Search & Navigation and traditional digital businesses - which include broadband syndication, gaming, and electronic sell-through. Quigley is based in Atlanta and reports to Jeremy Legg, senior vice president of business development & multi-platform distribution. Within his role, Quigley evaluates new IP video distribution technologies, develops advance video products, cultivates partnerships with consumer electronic manufacturers, and develops associated new business models with both internal and external constituencies.  He also serves as the primary liaison between Business Development and Animation, Young Adults, & Kids Media. Most recently, Quigley was executive director of business development. Since joining Turner in 2006, Quigley has been responsible for developing and executing all non-linear platform distribution for the Turner properties across broadband and interactive television. He has served as a leader in the TV Everywhere effort - which spans across technology platform initiatives to advertising models to new distribution technologies - as well as in the distribution of Turner’s first Interactive Television application. Prior to joining Turner, Quigley was the vice president of business development and strategy for DMX MUSIC. In this role, he was responsible for the distribution of DMX MUSIC’s Asia Pacific pay TV music channels, execution of the company’s digital music business plan and the sale of the company to a private investor group. Before DMX MUSIC, Quigley served as director of business development for Liberty Digital, Inc., and as manager of strategic planning for Time Warner, Inc. Quigley earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Rice University and a masters of business administration from Stanford University. Turner Network Sales (TNS), a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), is responsible for the sales and marketing of Turner Broadcasting’s 10 domestic basic cable networks – TBS, CNN, HLN, TNT, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, CNN International, CNN en Español, Boomerang and truTV – to cable and satellite affiliates and special markets throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner company, creates and programs branded news, entertainment, animation and young adult media environments on television and other platforms for consumers around the world.

Shahid Khan, Chairman and Chief Strategist, MediaMorph, Inc.: Shahid Khan is an acclaimed
thought leader in converging Media and Telecommunications industries, with tremendous track-record of helping leading media, cable and wireless compaies to identify and capitalize on opportunities based on emerging platforms and launching initiatives across Digital Music, Broadband TV, Mobile TV, HD Networks, eBooks, etc. Shahid is currently the Chairman and Chief Strategist at MediaMorph, the leading global provider of cross-platform tracking, measurement, licensing and royalties management platforms for media companies with clients such as Warner Brothers, HBO, Sony, etc. Prior to joining MediaMorph, Shahid was a Senior Partner at IBB Consulting Group, LLC, a premier boutique consulting firm serving leading Cable, Mobile and Media companies. At IBB, Shahid advised top management at leading clients such as Sony Entertainment, Scholastic, Disney, Hearst, IAC, Showtime, Time Warner Cable, Cablevision and Comcast on Business and Operational Strategy, Digital Strategy, New Product/Service Development/Launch, Merger Integration, and Business Development. Some of Shahid’s recent engagements include the transformation of Advertising operations for a leading Cable MSO, development of Advanced TV strategy for a group of broadcasters, development of Digital Strategy for a major Hollywood studio, merger integration of on-line businesses for a leading sports TV network, acquisition planning of a TV network, as well as launches of: an on-line news venture, an on-line movie service, a multi-platform TV network, a mobile TV network, an HD TV network, a broadband entertainment portal, an children’s eBook service and a mobile communications service. Prior to joining IBB, Shahid was a Managing Director at BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting), responsible for leading BearingPoint’s Entertainment and Information Services industry practices, serving clients such as Warner Music, Major League Baseball, Thomson-Reuters, Moody’s and Rodale. Prior to that, he was a Client Services Partner at IBM Global Services in Communication Industry, serving clients such as Viacom, Bertelsmann, Cablevision and the New York Times. Shahid holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business, and is a Fellow at U. Penn’s Wharton School of Business. He has published numerous white-papers, is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences, and is often quoted in leading publications such as the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Red Herring, the New York Times, etc.
