Hany Nada, Managing partner, GGV Capital: Hany Nada is a co-founder of GGV Capital and led the firms successful investments in athenahealth (NASDAQ: ATHN), Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU), Kintana (acquired by Mercury Interactive) and Xfire (acquired by Viacom). He works with public and private companies across the portfolio assisting with business development and global market strategy. He is active with investments in interactive and online technologies such as consumer software, mobile, Internet software and gaming, and social networking. Currently, Hany serves on the Board of Directors of Vocera Communications, Tudou and three gaming companies, Glu Mobile, Turbine and Wild Tangent. Before entering the venture capital business, Hany spent ten years on Wall Street as a top-ranked research analyst at Piper Jaffray focusing on Internet software and e-infrastructure. He was recognized as a Wall Street Journal All-Star Analyst and Institutional Investor All-Star in three categories. His research coverage included such companies as Adobe, Yahoo, and Vignette, and he was the lead analyst on a broad range of tech IPOs. Hany is a graduate of the University of Minnesota where he earned a B.S. in economics and a B.A. in political science.
Ajay Chopra, General Partner, Trinity Ventures: Since joining Trinity Ventures in 2006, Ajay has developed a reputation as an entrepreneurs coach. His passion is helping entrepreneurs execute their Big Idea. He has over 20 years of operating experience at the senior management and board level with start?ups, private companies and public companies. Prior to joining Trinity Ventures, Ajay co-founded Pinnacle Systems, a seminal media technology company that pioneered consumer generated media creation. During his tenure at Pinnacle, the company grew from start?up stage to a global $350M public company, won several Emmy awards and completed over a dozen M&A transactions before being acquired by Avid Technology. Previously, Ajay was with Mindset Corporation, a computer graphics start?up. Before Mindset, he held various technical and management positions at Atari Corporation, a video games company, and Unisys Corporation, an IT services company. He is a charter member of The Indus Entrepreneurs, an active group providing support for entrepreneurs and is on the Board of Trustees of the Harker School in San Jose.
Sharon Wienbar, Managing Director, Scale Venture Partners: Sharon invests in mobile, internet, and enterprise software companies at Scale Venture Partners, which she joined in 2001. Sharon sits on the boards of Actiance, Everyday Health, MerchantCircle, PlayPhone, Reply!com and uTest. Prior to ScaleVP, Sharon spent 15 years at Critical Path, Amplitude Software, Adobe Systems and Bain & Company. Among her varied responsibilities, she directed marketing strategies and operations, integrated product and service businesses following acquisitions, managed the application of technology to Pacific Rim and European markets, and negotiated complex intellectual property licenses. Sharon holds a BA and MA in Engineering from Harvard University, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Sharon also serves on the Board of Directors of the non-profit Myelin Repair Foundation and on Microsoft's Venture Advisory Committee. As a Managing Director, Sharon is happy to offer our startups an opportunity to obtain free software.
Clifford H Friedman, Managing Director and Founding Partner, Constellation Growth Capital, Highbridge Principal Strategies LLC: Mr. Friedman brings over 30 years of private equity, venture capital, investment, financial, technical and media expertise to the Fund. Mr. Friedman currently serves as a director and or chairman to the following companies; AirplusTV AB (and wholly owned subsidiary Dahlia Television S.A.), Hibernia/MediaXstream, Net Insight AB, TV One, Widevine Technologies. Additionally Mr. Friedman has served as a director of and/or advisor to the following companies: Savvis Communications, MTM Technologies, College Sports Television (CSTV), Fathom Online, Capital IQ, Active Health Management, The Street.com, Network 24, Origin Digital, Vivid Logic, TV Azteca (Mexicos second largest broadcast network), Netscape and InterTrust. He also supports Highbridge Principal Strategies media based investments which includes; Digital Cinema Implementation Partners (DCIP). From January 1996 through August 1997, Mr. Friedman served as a Senior Vice President of Universal Studios where he was responsible for the creation and development of the Studios New Media Group. Mr. Friedmans responsibilities at Universal Studios included working with all of Universals divisions to develop, execute and create investments, acquisitions, strategic alliances, multimedia applications, international expansion and other new business opportunities. From February 1995 through January 1996, Mr. Friedman served as Vice President--Strategic Development at NBC, where his responsibilities involved leveraging existing franchises to create new business opportunities. While at NBC, he helped to form the joint venture between NBC and Microsoft (MSNBC) and formulated NBCs Latin American strategy. From 1990 through January 1995, Mr. Friedman was a Senior Managing Director in the Media and Technology Group at Bear Stearns. During this period he was ranked an All American Analyst by the Institutional Investor Magazine poll of Wall Street institutional clients. While at Bear Stearns, he published New Age Media--The Merging of Media, Communications, Computing and Consumer Electronics in 1993 and a follow-on publication, New Age Media II, in 1994. During this period, Mr. Friedman also led Bear Stearns efforts to raise $225,000,000 to launch the New Age Media Fund, Inc. and helped advise several major media and technology companies. Concurrent with his time spent at Bear Stearns in the early 1990s, Mr. Friedman launched a self-funded, private venture capital and consulting company in 1992 called Cold Spring Ventures. Investments included early stage, seed investments in Netscape Communications, InterTrust Technologies and Scoop.
Len Rand, Managing Director, Granite Ventures: Len Rand joined Granite Ventures in 2002 after spending nearly three decades in the technology sector. Prior to Granite, Len was General Manager of Strategic Marketing and Global Alliances for Intel Communications Group (ICG) at Intel Corporation. He joined Intel following its acquisition of NetBoost Corporation, where Len was CEO and founder. Len was a co-founder of Internet Middleware, Inc., acquired by Network Appliance; CEO of The Whitewater Group, acquired by Symantec; and CEO of the Rand Group, acquired by Intergraph Corporation. He was Vice President and General Manager at both Intergraph Corporation and Autodesk, Inc. Len serves on the Boards of Directors for Aspen Avionics, Ozmo Devices, Plato Networks and PowerGenix. He holds several degrees including a B.S. degree in Building Sciences, a B.S. degree in Engineering, a BArch degree in Architecture, and an M.S. degree in Structural Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
