Joseph Gillespie - President & Chief Executive Officer, Zoove: Joseph Gillespie joined Zoove as President and CEO in 2010, overseeing all business operations and strategy for Zoove. Under Joe's leadership, Zoove has launched StarStar Numbers across all of the top wireless carriers in the US, reaching 95% of mobile consumers, and announced its first major campaigns with brands including: Suzuki, 1800Flowers.com, Good Morning America (ABC), The Early Show (CBS), cable programming networks, consumer packaged goods companies, and others. Joe joined Zoove after stepping down from an accomplished career at CBS, and initially serving as an advisor to Zoove's Board of Directors. Most recently, Joe served as executive vice president of CBS Interactive Technology & News, which includes CBSNews.com, CNET.com, CNET News.com and Download.com. At CBS, Joe was responsible for vision and execution, ensuring that CBSNews.com continued to complement CBS News broadcasts in an innovative manner, and CNET continued to lead the market in developing engaging, authentic brand experiences. Joe joined CBS after it acquired CNET Networks for $1.8 Billion in 2008. Joe joined CNET in mid-2004 as chief marketing officer, and eventually oversaw CNET's Web 2.0 strategy, including several brand extensions to attract new audiences and advertisers. These extensions included CNET TV, Webware.com, Crave.com, Car Tech, and the CNET Blog Network. Prior to joining CNET Networks, Joe served as executive vice president, chief operating officer, and acting chief executive officer of Paul Allen's Vulcan Ventures' TechTV, which was acquired by Comcast in 2004 and merged with G4. Before his tenure at TechTV, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer of ZDTV, a Ziff-Davis, Inc. Company. He also served as executive vice president of corporate sales and marketing for Ziff-Davis, Inc, a pioneer in the development of trade press with publications like PC Magazine. Joe spent his early career in sports media with companies including CBS Sports, National Broadcasting Company and Sports Information Database, Inc. He earned his bachelor's degree in journalism/communications from Rutgers College and is a current member of its advisory board.
Chase Norlin, CEO, AlphaBird: a leader in online video syndication, and has spent the last 15 years in the Internet industry as an entrepreneur and distribution executive. Prior to AlphaBird, Mr. Norlin was the founder and CEO of Pixsy, a pioneer in syndicated video search funded by TVGuide-Gemstar (now Rovi - NASDAQ:ROVI). Previously he served as a senior executive at ValueClick (NASDAQ:VCLK) where he managed publisher distribution for the display advertising network, paid search, and comparison shopping divisions. Prior to ValueClick, Mr. Norlin held the position of Senior Consultant to InfoSpace (NASDAQ:INSP) charged with publisher distribution for the paid search division. Previously, Mr. Norlin developed Sony's first online photo sharing venture and founded the web's first online video sharing company ShareYourWorld. Mr. Norlin also served as a new venture consultant in launching Boeing's (NYSE:BA) online video and image licensing division. Mr. Norlin serves on the advisory boards of EgoTVOnline, AdBidCentral, Kerosene and a Match, PickupPal and Adgregate Markets. Additionally, he serves as Chair of the Video Committee at the Internet Content Syndication Council. He received his BA from UC Berkeley and MA from The University of Chicago and is a regular speaker on video syndication, online advertising, and search. Recent speaking engagements include the Goldman Sachs 9th Annual Global Media Conference, NATPE, NAB, ad:tech, and PubCon.
Joseph Epstein is the C hief Marketing Officer of Digital Broadcasting Group (DBG), the leading creator, producer, and distributor of premium video content across digital media. Joe oversees the company's marketing and branding, including its marketing solutions, events, press, social media and research efforts, and drives key client initiatives, strategic partner programs and new content efforts. Joe joined DBG after nearly seven years at Sony Pictures Entertainment, most recently as Vice President of Digital Marketing. His work has earned him several awards over the years, including three Key Art Awards for District 9 and the Grand Prize of Excellence from Mediaweek for When a Stranger Calls.
Karl House, VP, Sales, Deca: Karl House is primarily responsible for developing new business and managing sponsorship sales at DECA. His team integrates top-brand advertisers across DECAs digital lifestyle properties. Prior to joining DECA in 2008, Karl served as Group Advertising Director for Money Media, a Financial Times company, where his team generated revenue across a network of prominent financial websites. He developed and managed million-dollar relationships with clients such as Barclays, Fidelity and Charles Schwab. Before Money Media, Karl worked as National Sales Director at CampusLink, where he sold sponsorships to Fortune 500 companies targeting college students. Karl House received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and now lives in Pacific Palisades.
Anthony Bontrager, President & CEO | Soda Media: A recognized veteran in telecommunicatio ns, broadcasting and interactive media, Anthony Bontrager is currently President and CEO of Soda Media, Inc., a digital media investment and advisory firm with a primary focus on content development, management and distribution platforms/services that span the web, mobile and iTV sectors. Soda's unique approach brings together significant thought leadership, hands-on operational guidance, unparalleled connections and investment capital in order to help companies succeed in today's ever-changing media environment. Prior to founding Soda Media, Anthony was President Onecast, Inc. (1Cast), where he was responsible for setting overall strategy and establishing key technology and content partnerships. The goal of 1Cast was to make traditional television news programming readily available online and just minutes after the original broadcast in a personalized newscast format. Before joining 1Cast, Anthony was President and CEO of Broadstream Communications, Inc., a company he co-founded, which became the telecommunications industry's first virtual head-end and middleware platform for IPTV delivery. Under Anthony's leadership, Broadstream was the first company to secure the largest library of IP-content rights from companies such as NBC-Universal, Disney/ABC, ESPN, Starz, Discovery, Fox, Turner Networks and others. Additionally, Anthony spearheaded the company's equity and debt financing rounds, which included a $30M strategic partnership with Intelsat, Ltd, the world's largest satellite owner and operator. Previously, Anthony was General Manager at Fisher Pathways, Inc. (a division of Fisher Communications, Inc.), where he oversaw programming origination and satellite and fiber re-distribution of television and video content for companies such as ESPN, The Portland Trail Blazers, CNN and others. Anthony's telecom career began during the early days of PCS systems deployments and continued with Advanced Radio Telecom Corp. (ARTT) where, as Vice President of Real Estate, he oversaw the acquisition of over 800 million square feet of telecommunications facilities in the United States, London and Scandinavia. Anthony is also the Managing Partner with Axis Partners, LLC, and sits on the advisory boards of Vote iQ and SATCON/CCW. Anthony is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences - Interactive Media Peer Group and Film Group, and is a past member of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and World Teleport Association (WTA). Anthony is a sought after speaker on digital media and IPTV and has authored various articles on telecommunications and digital media, which includes being a co-author of Washington State's wireless siting policy. Anthony holds a degree in Business Administration and Finance from Seattle University.
Abbe Cherkaoui, General Manager, Media Sales, GoldSpot Media: As General Ma nager, Media Sales, Abbe is responsible for the adoption of GoldSpot's Ad Creation Tool and Services to the brand and advertising industry. Bringing over 23 years of operating and management experience in both the US and Europe, Abbe has worked with top companies in the media, advertising and publishing industries. Abbe has successfully orchestrated sales teams through barriers to entry in various country environments and has lead sales and marketing organizations in being early adoptors of new media strategies. Prior to GoldSpot, Abbe was VP of Digital for Metro Traffic. There she oversaw the sales endeavors and was responsible for the national launch of Sigalert.com. While living in Europe, Abbe founded International Sales Strategy Group in France, which was a consulting group providing strategic sales, business development and marketing consulting services focused on the broadcast and digital media sectors, CPG and SAAS industries. Abbe has worked in several start-up environments both in the US and Europe leading the sales and business development strategies to successful sales outcomes.
