Chia-Lin Simmons, GM, Americas, PlayPhone: is responsible for the strategic direction of marketing, product marketing, and customer support. As a marketing and business development executive with more than 15 years of experience, she has led successful marketing, business development and product marketing efforts in wireless, mobile devices, e-commerce, and emerging technology units for a variety of companies in the digital media industry. Simmons has held key positions with companies such as AOL / Time Warner, Audible (an Amazon company), WIRED, CNET, Beyond.com, Newscorp, and other digital media brands. Most recently, she managed partnerships with social media companies such as MySpace and Facebook at AOL / Time Warner as a business development executive. As Audibles VP of Strategic Alliances, Simmons successfully launched Audibles wireless business and was responsible for global partnership and marketing programs with companies such as Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, Palm, SanDisk, Creative, Garmin, Best Buy, Amazon and other major mobile handset, consumer electronics and online/offline commerce companies. In her spare time, she spends time as the co-host of a weekly podcast call On Digital Media www.odmcast.com The podcast covers the technology, creation, distribution, consumption and monetization of digital media and its effects on traditional media and marketing. The ODM podcast counts as its listeners numerous technologies, digital media and traditional media executives. Simmons graduated Magna cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from U.C. San Diego and received her MBA from Cornell University, where she was a Park Leadership Fellow. She also has a JD from George Mason University School of Law and is a licensed New York attorney.
Caroline Giegerich, Vice President, Director of Innovations, Initiative: Caroline Giegerich serves as Vice President, Director of Innovations in Initiative's Los Angeles office. She is responsible for executing marketing strategies for the agency's Lionsgate, Lucas Arts, Carl's Jr, Kia, and Dr. Pepper/Snapple clients. Initiative's Innovations unit is fully integrated into the agency's account teams and Caroline is charged with uncovering and evaluating the latest emerging platforms and newest content that can be leveraged to reach each client's target audience. Caroline has been integral in the launch of several groundbreaking campaigns including Lionsgate's use of social media platform Foursquare for a mobile geo-targeted promotion in 11 cities nationwide in support of the action movie 'The Expendables'. Before joining Initiative, Caroline was Manager, Emerging Platforms & Technologies for Home Box Office, Inc, (HBO) responsible for pursuing strategic relationships in new media, product development and research. Her duties also extended to the realm of emerging platforms and technologies leveraged by internal teams at HBO. In addition, she managed the development and marketing of two products for HBO Boxing designed to deliver statistics to the on-air program in order to increase engagement. During her tenure at HBO, she was also managed multi-platform content development -- launching new HBO on Demand product offerings and developing cross-platform marketing strategies. Caroline is the founder and editor of Daily Marauder, a daily website devoted to the intersection of art, technology and online media. Before joining HBO, she worked at the Los Angeles Times and in radio as a disc jockey at a medium market alternative station. Caroline holds a Bachelors of Arts in Pre-Medical Sciences and Philosophy from Brown University.
Jack Krawczyk, Senior Product Marketing Manager, StumbleUpon: As Senior Product Marketing Manager at StumbleUpon, Jack Krawczyk is responsible for the product marketing development of advertising and partnership solutions. Focused on Paid Discovery, StumbleUpons social media marketing platform, Jack has been working closely with marketers to understand how to better engage brand promise with consumers who are in the mindset of discovery. Jack is also responsible for the distribution of StumbleUpon traffic solutions, which enable site owners to more deeply engage and grow their audience. Prior to joining StumbleUpon, Jack was at Google where he worked on the development of Google+, and previously industry marketing management of Fortune 500 advertising relationships in the media & entertainment, financial services, travel and local services sectors. He has also worked as an analyst at Banc of America Securities. Jack holds a BS in Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University.
David Maher Roberts, Chief Executive Officer, The Filter: David Maher Roberts is an entrepreneurial executive with web start-up and international new media experience. After completing European Economics and Law and Advanced Management programs, Mr. Roberts began his career as a magazine editor and publisher. At the young age of 24, he successfully raised the funds to launch Unique, the first student lifestyle magazine, and The Game, a European football magazine. With roots firmly in content and fulfilling specific information and entertainment needs, Mr. Roberts went on to become the publishing director at Future Games in 2001. There he served as the board director responsible for the entire portfolio of 10 magazines, 2 websites, and 80 employees. After 2 years, he founded Future Plus, a creative agency to provide tailor-made print and digital content solutions for Futures advertisers. As Future Pluss publishing director, Mr. Roberts generated revenues of more than 8 million dollars in just over 2 years. From June 2004-December 2006, he also served as the New Media Director for Futures European web operations. After leaving Future, Mr. Roberts served as the New Media director at iSporty, where he provided the founders with a launch strategy and platform for their sport social network and he was a founder and senior partner of Digital-dna LLP, where he consulted on creating and implementing web strategies for their clients. In his spare time, Mr. Roberts plays, watches, and coaches football and passionately makes and listens to music. He lives with his wife and two children outside of Bath.
Joe Hyrkin, President, Wordnik: He has more than 18 years of experience in general management, and in senior sales and business development management both domestically and internationally. He has focused his career on creating and launching new businesses in the US and Asia, and has been instrumental in pioneering creative revenue opportunities in the community and social web space. In 2010, Joe completed a role as an Entrepreneur in Residence with Trinity Ventures. While at Trinity, Joe spent six months focused on opportunities in next-generation social commerce, community, crowdsourcing, and social media and evaluated more than 150 companies. Prior to joining Trinity as an EIR, Joe was the Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Gaia Interactive. While there, Joe oversaw all revenue including virtual goods, advertising/sponsorship and merchandise as well as all Business Development efforts including fundraising, strategic partnerships, and content acquisition and distribution. Prior to Gaia Online, Joe headed up the business side of Multimedia Search at Yahoo!, where he also served as head of Business Development and Sales for Flickr. Before his time at Yahoo, Joe served as Vice President of Strategic Accounts and Asia Pacific Operations at Virage Inc., a provider of video search and publishing services and software. While at Virage, Joe and his team established some of the first business relationships in the broadband entertainment space, working with many of the world's leading media companies. Prior to Virage, he headed sales for Sina.com, the top Chinese language portal, and before that Joe ran The Economist Group's business in China for four and a half years, establishing the company's presence in the country and overseeing offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Joe serves on the Board Of Directors of Viximo, Inc., and on the advisory boards of Bunndle, Inc., RadiumOne, Inc., TaskRabbit, and Zoodles Inc.
Todd Greene is the co-founder and CEO of Loyalize. As an entreprenuer who has found ed and successfully sold companies across the software spectrum, Todd launched Loyalize with a vision to revolutionize the way audiences participate. Todd leads the Loyalize product and business strategy, working with the growing Loyalize team to deliver exceptional consumer experiences to market. As CEO of Loyalize's sister company and successful social recommendation network site Trusted Opinion, Todd launched and grew the company to over 1M members worldwide. Todd previously was founder and CTO of CascadeWorks, a company providing Services Procument solutions to companies like Texas Instruments, Charles Schwab, and ABN Amro, and acquired by Elance. After working with companies like GE, SGI, and Quantum while a consultant at Price Waterhouse, Todd joined NetDynamics (sold to Sun Microsystems in 1998) to help create a truly game-changing product: the first application server built for the Internet. Todd has a B.S. in Computer Science from San Diego State University and lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children.
Jonathan Weitz, Partner, IBB Consulting: Jonathan helps clients pioneer new products and services, develop innovative business models, design organization structures and successfully execute business operations. Over the course of his career, Jonathan has advised companies such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Showtime, Sony Pictures Television, The GolfChannel, IAC/InteractiveCorp, Goldman Sachs and Intel. At IBB, Jonathan leads growth strategy for content owners, service providers, device manufacturers and software providers, opportunities in broadband and mobile video, advertising across platforms, content on smart phones and tablets, broadband video, interactive television, enhancing viewership and engagement, and growing physical and digital media revenue. He leads efforts related to Revenue Growth Opportunity Analysis, New Product Strategy and Launch Management, Communications Products and Social Networking Services Development, Marketing Planning, Financial Modeling, Partnership Planning, Product Portfolio and Roadmap Management, Ad Sales Effectiveness, Customer Acquisition and Retention, M&A Due Diligence, Business Operations Optimization, Performance Measurement and Change Management. Recent engagements include a broadband video portal strategy for a Cable and Wireless provider, product strategy and advertising planning for a new HD network and merger integration planning and execution for a cable network. Jonathan has published white-papers and articles on topics such as Broadband Video and has conducted research including global trends in interactive advertising and mobile content. Jonathan's insights can be found in leading publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times, as well as at conferences such as Digital Hollywood. Prior to joining IBB Consulting, Jonathan was a manager in BearingPoint's strategy practice. He holds Bachelor Degrees in Psychology and Communications from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Business Administration from New York University in Finance and Operations.
