The next generation mobile device has set a new threshold of design, elegance and features that all future mobile devices will be compared to. The Mobile Platform 2.0 is now the SmartPhone - Tablet Platform, and it will no longer be acceptable to the consumer as anything less perfect. It must be a perfect lifestyle device, a web, a phone, a texting and an email machine with full information and entertainment accessibility. The next generation of mobile devices have forever raised the bar for what all future mobile platforms must aspire to. In this session, we will address the SmartPhone - Tablet platform - the features, the network capabilities and consumer expectations.

Andrew Stalbow, Senior Vice President, Mobile, Fox Digital Entertainment: He is responsible for creating new distribution channels for 20th Century Fox’s film and television properties on portable platforms worldwide. Two highlights over the past three months include pre-loading James Cameron's Avatar with every Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant mobile device sold in the US and launching an iPhone / iPad application for Glee with Smule. Prior to this, Andrew served as Vice President, International for Fox Mobile Entertainment based in London. Before Fox, Andrew was in business development at Vodafone Group, where he negotiated international content and marketing agreements for 29 operating companies around the world. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and three children.












TED HONG, Chief Marketing Officer, Fandango and Movies.com, NBCUniversal Entertainment and Digital Networks: Ted Hong is the Chief Marketing Officer of Fandango and Movies.com. Fandango is the nation's top moviegoer destination, with over 30 million unique visitors per month, 20 million downloads of its popular mobile apps, and more than 16,000 screens across the country. Fandango, acquired by Comcast in 2007, is a unit of NBCUniversal Entertainment's digital networks group. Hong has enjoyed 20 years as a business leader in marketing, strategy and general management from small start-ups to $200MM global brands. Hong is in charge of Fandango's brand and customer acquisition, leading all of its online and offline marketing, public relations, promotional and retail product initiatives. He was instrumental in launching the nationally-recognized Fandango Bag Puppet advertising campaign. He also manages all marketing efforts for Fandango's sister property, Movies.com in the same capacity. Movies.com is a content focused web site for everything movies, from pre-theatrical buzz to home entertainment. Prior to Fandango, Hong was at the .TV Corporation, a web identity services provider acquired by Verisign Inc. in 2003. At .TV Hong led marketing efforts for the international and wholesale divisions of the company. Hong also spent several years at Nestle USA in brand management for the Chocolate and Confections division on the Butterfinger brand and the Halloween and Valentine's Day seasonal businesses. He started his business career as a management consultant for Gemini Consulting, non-profit management for the California Alumni Association and professional sports for the Golden State Warriors. He received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA in Political Economy from UC Berkeley.

Cameron Friedlander, VP, Director of Creative technology, Designkitchen: As the leader of Designkitchen’s technology practice, Cameron oversees Designkitchen's conception, development and delivery of innovative solutions across a range of media and technology platforms, and steers its teams to embrace the constant evolution of formats, functionality and convergence. Under Cameron’s tutelage, Designkitchen's web development and interactive teams create solutions that seamlessly integrate design and information while ensuring user experience and relevancy. Drawing on 10+ years of leadership and technology expertise, Cameron informs key project phases and deliverables including user experience, technology, business requirements, application logic, user pathway and site flow development, multimedia and video production, and UI/application technology integration. He brings new technologies and user experience models to every project-most notably, pervasive computing and real-time information flow experiences that are pushing the way a user interacts with data (NUI interfaces) and the devices are empowering the user. Cameron is a graduate of the University of Redlands in California with a BS in Computer Science.


Kevin Shields is the Director of Product Management at Digimarc. Kevin is responsible for the joint ventures with The Nielsen Company and leads product development efforts with a focus on new product initiatives. Kevin has held management positions at technology startups and established software companies. Prior to Digimarc, Kevin was the Director of Product Marketing at TechTracker, now a part of CBS Interactive, and a Senior Product Manager at Symantec. Kevin started his career in the US Senate as a policy intern. Kevin holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Journalism from the University of Oregon and a Master's Degree in Business Administration, Information and Technology sequence, from Portland State University's Graduate School of Management.













Lucy Hood, Executive Director, USC CTM, (Institute of Communications Technology Managemen
t) : Lucy Hood is a highly respected industry expert in telecom strategy and digital content. USC’s CTM is the world’s foremost Institute at the intersection of technology and content, offering its members cutting-edge research and business strategy, executive education and leadership forums for the digital industry. Corporate partners include AT&T, Verizon, HP, Cisco, Sun, Qualcomm, Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, France Telecom, SK Telecom and Disney. Prior to joining USC’s Marshall School of Business, Hood was President of Fox Mobile Entertainment, and Senior Vice President of News Corporation. Lucy Hood is widely known as an architect of corporate digital strategy, building News Corporation’s mobile business to hundreds of millions through partnerships with companies such as Vodafone, AT&T, Qualcomm, Nokia and Verisign. Hood’s team introduced text messaging in the US on broadcast TV via American Idol, and invented the Mobisode®, an early innovation in mobile video content. Hood was a key executive in launching numerous technology businesses at Fox, including Fox.com and FX Cable. Previously, she was an executive at Paramount Pictures, and produced the news program, “Business Times.” Lucy Hood is a keynote speaker at major industry events and business conferences around the world such as CES, E3, CTIA, 3G World Congress, Wireless Influencers and Digital Hollywood. In addition, she has spoken on digital issues before top government officials in the US and in China. Lucy Hood has won numerous awards and is regularly featured in lists of key influential executives, including the Digital 50. She holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from Yale University.
