Bill Gannon is the Managing Editor, EntertainmentWeekly.com, and for the la st five years has served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of California-Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism specializing in digital and social media. Prior to joining EW, Gannon served as Director of Digital Media for film maker George Lucas' Lucasfilm Ltd., where for four years he led a number of major Star Wars and Indiana Jones transmedia initiatives in theatrical films, TV shows, video games, and web sites. Prior to joining Lucasfilm Ltd., Gannon served for four years as Senior Editorial Director and Managing Editor at Yahoo! Inc., with strategic roles and responsibilities in news, content programming, product development, policy, and marketing. Prior to joining Yahoo! Gannon served as Editorial Director & Managing Editor of Financial Engines Inc.. He was previously a National Correspondent for The Newhouse News Service and The Star-Ledger of Newark, NJ where he specialized in conflict reporting in Africa and The Middle East, National Politics, and Investigative Reporting. He is a former John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford University, and has received a number of national journalism awards. He is a Certified Scrum Master in Agile product development and serves on a number of national non-profit journalism advisory boards.
Karin Gilford, Senior Vice President, Digital Media, ABC Television Network: As senior vice president, Digital Media for the ABC Television Network, Karin Gilford is responsible for ABC's digital media initiatives including ABC.com, the official online home of the ABC Network's Primetime, Daytime, and Late Night programs, as well as the network's digital efforts on mobile platforms and interactive television technologies. Prior to joining the Disney/ABC Television Group, Ms. Gilford was Senior Vice President, Online Media at Comcast Interactive Media (CIM), a division of Comcast Corporation dedicated to developing and operating online and cross-platform entertainment and media businesses. At Comcast, she was responsible for the growth and management of CIM's broadband portal site, Comcast.net and cutting-edge online entertainment site, Fancast.com. Before joining Comcast, Ms. Gilford spent eight years with Yahoo! serving in several different roles, including Vice President and General Manager of Yahoo! Entertainment where she led all programming, content and business strategy for the entertainment consumer Web sites: Yahoo! Movies, Yahoo! Music, Yahoo! TV, Omg!, Shine and Yahoo! Games. She also previously held positions in business development and finance at Paramount Pictures International Television, and Ernst & Young LLP. Ms. Gilford holds a BA in business administration from Cal State Northridge, and a MBA from the University of Southern California.
Beth Johnson, VP Digital Media, ABC Family: Beth Johnson is Vice President, Digital Media for Disney/ABC Television Group's ABC Family network. In this role, Ms. Johnson is responsible for the strategic direction, production and operations of the network's digital media initiatives, including all efforts related to ABCFamily.com, as well as other related broadband and mobile applications. She reports to Albert Cheng, executive vice president, Digital Media, Disney/ABC Television Group. Previously, Ms. Johnson was Vice President, ABC Daytime & SOAPnet Digital Media, where she was responsible for the oversight of all daytime-related digital media initiatives including SOAPnet.com, ABC.com's Daytime content including The View site, and SOAPNETIC, a gated broadband offering available through various multi-channel video providers. Earlier in her career, she served as Editorial Director of Digital Media at Bravo and was an Editor and part of the launch team for InStyle Online (instyle.com and instyleweddings.com). Ms. Johnson earned a degree in Political Science from University of Chicago. She resides in the Los Angeles area with her husband and children.
Carlton Cuse, Executive Producer, LOST: Carlton Cuse grew up in Boston, Mas sachusetts and Orange County, California. He attended Harvard University, graduating with a degree in American History. With Jeffrey Boam, Cuse developed the story and screenplays for Lethal Weapon 2, Lethal Weapon 3 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. In television Cuse began his writing career on the Michael Mann series "Crime Story." He co-created and executive produced the critically acclaimed Fox series "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." He created and executive produced all six seasons of the CBS show "Nash Bridges" starring Don Johnson. He also created and executive produced the CBS series "Martial Law". Cuse, along with Damon Lindelof, served as the showrunner, executive producer and head writer for all six seasons of "Lost" on ABC. In addition to overseeing the network show, Cuse also pioneered the development of the first transmedia content for network television series. Cuse has received ten Emmy Nominations for his work and has won two Emmys: one for Best Drama Series and the other for Outstanding Achievement in Interactive Media. Among his other honors, Cuse has won a Peabody Award, a Golden Globe, the Jules Verne Award, four Saturn Awards, and a Writers Guild Award. In 2010, Cuse was named to Time Magazine's annual List of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.
Brad Pelo is the CEO of i.TV - maker of the top TV and entertainment app for the iPhone and iPad - where he and his team re-imagining the television experience by giving viewers choice and voice. i.TV is the ultimate convergence of Pelo's lifelong passion for media and technology, reflected in his many prior professional roles. Most recently, he produced a number of feature films, including Outlaw Trail: the Legend of Butch Cassidy and Forever Strong, co-starring Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings). Prior to that Pelo founded NextPage, a compliance and information risk solutions provider. Before that he was president and publisher of Bookcraft, a book publisher, and was a founding team member and the first CEO of Ancestry.com (Nasdaq: ACOM). Brad also co-founded and served as president of Folio Corporation - the early search-engine pioneer, which was later acquired by Lexis-Nexis.
Jesse Redniss, Vice President, Digital USA Network: Jesse Redniss is the Vice Presiden t, Digital for USA Network overseeing all digital strategies, deployments and growth for the various USA Network properties including usanetwork.com, westminsterkennelclub.com, universalhd.com, sleuthchannel.com and characterarcade.com. Since joining the company in April of 2005, Redniss has been at the forefront of the digital restructuring and growth of the usanetwork.com business. The usanetwork.com digital movement has driven major innovations and changes in the industry that have been adopted by many of USA Network's competitors. Redniss has been instrumental in shifting the company's online properties from merely entertainment sites to revenue generating destinations and further driving the concept of socialized TV and two-screen experiences. These properties are custom built for advertiser branded content, engaging activities, customer-friendly interactions and to deliver a tangible ROI for the advertiser. Some of the most popular and successful USA initiatives pioneered by Redniss and his team, include new initiatives and industry-firsts such as affinity rewards program, CLUB PSYCH; an entertainment check-in app, PSYCH Vision; immersive experiences that 'gamify' shows, such as BURN NOTICE: Black Ops and development of the network's proprietary casual gaming destination Character Arcade. Additionally, Redniss has been a key player in selling through integrated multimedia packages to major fortune 500 clients such as Ford, Hyundai, GM and SC Johnson & Company. During his time at USA, Redniss has led the digital team to achieve unprecedented growth, with a 40 percent increase in uniques year-over-year and industry-leading time of engagement per visit in the cable industry site sector. Redniss has also become a recognized voice in the industry, speaking about the changing face of online advertising, interactivity, gamification branded media, social TV, casual gaming, engagement and more at shows and in print such as SXSW, NATPE, Media Summit, Casual Connect, Gamification Summit, LA Games Conference, iMedia Connect, Digital Hollywood, Fortune, AdAge, VentureBeat, Multichannel News, MediaWeek and more. Redniss' day-to-day responsibilities involve developing and overseeing innovative digital growth strategies, establishing advertiser partnerships with the digital sales group and overseeing the interactive campaigns for the record-breaking launches of the network's critically acclaimed hit series White Collar, In Plain Sight, PSYCH, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, Covert Affairs and others. Since his involvement, the digital team has gained industry recognition through various awards, including an AdAge Media Vanguard Award for CLUB PSYCH as the best social loyalty program, Web Marketing Association for the Broadcast and TV web site of the year, for more than three years running (2007, 2008 and 2009) over 17 gold and silver Promax/BDAs, the 2008 Beacon Award, and most recently two Addy awards. Redniss himself has been ranked as one of the 40 under 40 to watch in the digital world by Multichannel News. Before joining USA, Redniss worked as a digital supervisor at Tangible Media on the Atari and Midway games accounts and several leading advertising agencies specializing in media planning, buying and interactive strategy. Redniss has also held positions within the music industry at Volatile Media and SONY 550DMV.
