Mari Ghuneim, appointed to Vice President Online Media, Bravo, in March 2007, manages the strategic development, content and operations of Bravo's web and broadband initiatives. Bravo's portfolio of digitally-linked assets includes BravoTV.com and TelevisionWithoutPity.com. Prior to joining Bravo, Ghuneim served as Executive Director in programming at AOL since 2004. In that role, she launched the new lifestyle portal AOL Living, a beauty and fashion site called Stylelist.com, as well as a series of video shows in home entertaining, home improvement and cooking. Ghuneim first joined AOL in January 1999, serving a number of key roles inside the organization, including leading programming for AOL Music, where she grew the site into a top online music destination. She launched a number of innovative programming initiatives including "AOL Sessions," "Dave Matthews Live from Central Park," the Emmy-nominated "Top 11 Countdown Show" and the Emmy-winning "Live 8." Additionally, Ghuneim worked across AOL's entertainment sites in TV, movies and radio, developing programs for mobile and wireless devices, as well as building new opportunities in social media. Previously, Ghuneim worked at EDventure Holdings and Esther Dyson, a founding member of the digerati and leading authority on digital technology, where she headed up marketing from August 1997. Her first foray into the online world was in 1995 with ArtView, a global network of galleries, auction houses and museums. There, Ghuneim lead marketing efforts for e-commerce and inventory management solutions. Ghuneim's career in media began in Asia working for Charles E. Tuttle, an independent publisher of Asian-interest books and maps, and the publisher of English-language books in Japan. She was also the Tokyo correspondent for a radio station in Hong Kong, as well as an announcer for NHK Radio. Ghuneim earned her BA from the University of Chicago and MA from Stanford University.
Jennifer Kavanagh, Vice President of Digital & New Media, Oxygen Media: As Vice President of Digital & New Media, Jennifer Kavanagh is responsible for innovating and leading Oxygens digital initiatives on all existing and emerging platforms. Well versed in the online space for 12 years, Kavanagh joined Oxygen as Director of Interactive Marketing in 2006. Under her leadership, Oxygen.com has experienced rapid multi-platform growth. In November of 2009, Kavanagh was honored as a Top Women in Cable Technology by WICT and CableFAX Magazine. Kavanagh' currently oversees Oxygens suite of digital assets including Oxygen.com and the recently launched and wildly successful OxygenLive.com. OxygenLive is the first two-screen experience in which fans can socialize, interact and react with every episode in real time. Viewers can chat live, post to Facebook and Twitter as well as read other fan posts and tweets all in one place while a show airs. This real-time water cooler has pushed ratings to new record-breaking highs since its launch in conjunction with Bad Girls Club season four last December. Most recently, Oxygen Media announced a fully integrated sponsorhip deal with IKEA for the fifth season of Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, marking a first time sponsorship for www.OxygenLive.com which launched its inaaugural three-screen experience to its fans, now including mobile chat, for the season premiere of Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. This year, Kavanagh has been asked to be a featured presenter at Twitters first ever developer conference, Chirp, where she will take the attendees through the OxygenLive/Bad Girls Club case study. Additionally, Kavanagh has spoken on several social media and strategic relationship panels at Digital Hollywood, Media Summit NY and the 2010 CMO Spotlight Forum, to name a few. Oxygen.com is a hub for Generation O featuring editorial content that focuses on everything from television to fashion, and includes an interactive offering around games and social media. Kavanagh oversees the development of each Oxygen series microsite, which include blogs, photo galleries and the bOnus act, an additional act to every original episode available exclusively to online and mobile users. She also oversaw Oxygens first web based series, Mommywood, based on the NY Times bestselling book of the same title by Tori Spelling. Kavanagh oversaw the launch of a suite of digital assets including Fantastic Plastic Makeover, a tool that allows users to upload a photo and give themselves a virtual facelift utilizing advanced computer vision and image processing algorithms; ShopOholic, where users are able to shop -- using a single integrated cart -- for Oxygen branded merchandise from their favorite Oxygen shows; and tweetOverse, Oxygen's exclusively branded micro-blogging universe powered by Twitter technology. Kavanagh is also leading the digital side of the Oxygen Everywhere strategy. Oxygen Everywhere is a multiplatform strategy that puts the network in front of its young, female audience, wherever they are. Kavanagh is responsible for optimizing sponsorship opportunities online as part of Oxygens Super 360 offerings, which extends on-air advertising sponsorships into relevant content on NBC Universals female focused properties, including custom editorial on www.oxygen.com. Before joining Oxygen, Kavanagh was Director of Client Services at NETexponent where she was responsible for leading strategic marketing initiatives online for clients including the New York Times, Verizon and Financial Times.
David L. Smith, Founder, CEO: Mediasmith: David Smith is an internationally-recognized expert in the areas of new media application, media strategy, media planning and metrics. As a veteran in the area of advertising media management, his experience is drawn from the creation of the first-generation advertising technology to dealing with todays issues surrounding metrics in the digital marketplace. At the forefront of new metrics applications, David has deep advisory board and industry committee involvement where he works to establish and refine standards in metrics, business practices and financial issues for interactive advertising. With a number of awards to his name, including an Effie, David was also awarded the first-ever ad:tech Industry Achievement Award. This accolade recognized his longterm dedication and consistent outstanding service to the digital marketing industry.
Gerry Campbell, CEO, Collecta: was previously President of search & content technologies for Reuters, SVP of Search for AOL LLC, and led commerce strategy for AltaVista Company. Most recently, he has been an angel investor and advisor to notable early-stage companies, including Summize (acquired by Twitter), Tweetdeck, StockTwits, Outside.in, OpenCalais and Betaworks. Tania Yuki, Director, Product Management, comScore, Inc.: Tania Yuki manages comScores Video Metrix product, and is responsible for ensuring that online video measurement supports the growth and balances the needs of the online video and advertising industry. Prior to joining comScore, Tania was Head of Content for a leading global online video network and IPTV platform KIT digital (previously ROO Media), overseeing content acquisitions, digital strategy and programming optimization for key publishing clients and content partners in North America, the UK, and emerging markets. She has also worked in Australia in interactive and digital media for Foxtel and began as an attorney who specialized in media and internet law in her hometown of Sydney, Australia. Outside of comScore, Tania is also co-Founder of wimLink, an association promoting entrepreneurship, leadership and professional development for women in media and technology and leads the mentorship program for CampInteractive, a not-for-profit for New York youth.
Alex Blum, CEO, KickApps: Alex Blum is a seasoned senior executive who brings deep leadership experience from roles at global and emerging technology companies. He is responsible for providing the strategic leadership that guides the companys business, product development, marketing and sales strategy.Before joining KickApps, Alex was President and COO of JumpTV, a leading Multi-Cultural Internet Protocol Television Network. Alex has held several executive positions during his eight year tenure at AOL. Most recently he was responsible for re-launching the AOL Portal and delivering an entire suite of web-based applications including: AOL's Video Player, Video Portal, Streaming Video advertising platform, AIM and AIMpages social networking service. Prior to that, he was General Manager of AOLTV, where he established strategic relationships with DirecTV, TiVo, OpenTV and Philips Electronics. Alex has an MBA from the Albers School of Business at Seattle University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado.
Mark Ghuneim, Chief Executive Officer / Founder, Wiredset and Trendrr: Mark Ghuneim is a new media visionary with expertise in social engagement, technology and behavioral trending as well as marketing for music, television and brands. Mark launched Wiredset in 2004 as a futuristic digital agency with the ability to incubate, create and execute all aspects of digital marketing. Recognizing the need for real time actionable data for his clients, Mark oversaw the development of a proprietary online tracking service that allows for unparalleled visibility into user behavior and market intelligence across a myriad of internet categories such as social networks, search engines and video sites. With headquarters in New York City and offices in L.A. and Seattle, Wiredset services top entertainment properties such as HBO, MTV, Bravo, Comedy Central, ESPN, Oxygen, Atom Films, Virgin Records, Universal Music Group, Sony BMG, and leading consumer brands such as Apple, Microsoft, Puma and Armani Exchange. Prior to starting Wiredset, Ghuneim spent 16 years with Sony Music USA, where he was most recently Senior Vice President for Online Services. In that role, he created and implemented online marketing campaigns and was responsible for Sony Music's online sales. As Senior Vice President of Online & Emerging Technologies for Sony's Columbia Records Group, Ghuneim was instrumental in the careers of artists such as Destiny's Child, Jeff Buckley, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Billy Joel. Mark has pioneered innovations in new media as the music industry has evolved during the past three decades. Before joining Sony, Ghuneim was Director of Press and Video Promotion for the legendary independent label Beggars Banquet Records. In the nascent days of music video, he was program director and production manager at the New York City video nightclub Private Eyes. Ghuneim frequently moderates panels at top industry gatherings and guest lectures at universities such as NYU's Stern and School of Music in New York City and UCLA in Los Angeles. He has worked as a mentor with the Center of Communications. His work in the Information Securtity Space was feature in Time Magazine and cited by the head of the FBI in addressing national infrastructure vulnerabilities. He has worked with NYCLU and ACLU addressing surveillance in public spaces and Ghuneims photographs have appeared in publications such as New Musical Express and the British Music Weekly. Known to many online as Mediaeater, Ghuneim reads 10 print newspapers each morning and 100s online each day in his RSS reader. He resides in the tranquil West Village in Manhattan.
