The Smartphone - Tablet Economy: Apps, Devices, Commerce, Video, Music & Consumer Obsession Mobile communication and lifestyle and consumption has now entered a new and transformative stage. With the evolution and ubiquity of SmartPhones and the introduction of the iPad and other tablets, the landscape has forever changed. The technologies and devices of the past year has set a new threshold of design, elegance and features that all future mobile devices and generations of devices will be compared to. The communications platform of the future will no longer be acceptable to the consumer as anything less perfect. It must be a perfect lifestyle device, a phone, a texting and email machine with full information and entertainment accessibility. The coming generations of mobile devices have forever raised the bar for what all future mobile platforms must aspire to. In this session, we will address the iPad-Tablet - Smartphone platform the features, the network capabilities and consumer expectations. Matthew Fix, Principal, Vodafone Ventures : Matthew is a Principal at Vodafone Ventures, a $200M fund focused on the mobile and digital media space. Matthew has invested in and is an active board member of Amobee, Evolution Robotics, and Caringo and also invested in SNAP-in (acquired by Nuance), United Hubbing, OBS Medical, and Brilliant Telecom. Prior to joining Vodafone Ventures at the end of 2006 he was at Intel Capital, with a focus on software, open source, and Internet/digital media. Investments include Financial Engines (IPO), Datallegro (acquired by Microsoft), Spike Source, Black Duck, BayPackets (acquired by Genband), and Incesoft. Prior to Intel Capital, Matthew worked at a boutique merchant bank and for Robertson Stephens. He also founded a small communications company while an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, traded equity options on the floor of the pacific exchange, and was in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Matthew has an MBA from the University of Oxford.
Michael Bramlage, Director of Product Management, Nokia: Michael Bramlage heads product management of Ovi Store and is a relative newcomer to Nokia having spent over five years working for Microsoft in various product management, strategy, and business development functions in its online service unit. He is extremely excited about the potential for Store and spends nearly all his waking hours obsessing about how to get there faster and faster .and faster. In his (very limited) free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring NYC, and checking out new independent music. Responsibilities include product roadmap, feature design, and user experience for Ovi Store and its companion service for developers and publishers, called Ovi Publish.
Cameron Friedlander joined Designkitchen [WPP] in late 1999 to build out and lead an interactive team focused on the conceptual development and delivery of innovative solutions across a range of emerging technologies. Drawing on over a dozen years of strategic marketing leadership and technology experience, Cameron has helped shape Designkitchen's interdisciplinary teams to focus on the constant evolution of technologies and user experience models, while seamlessly integrating strategy, creative, content and technology. His emphasis on natural user interfaces and vision for experiencing real-time information on multiple devices across multiple marketing channels has continued to drive engagement and produce measurable results. During his tenure at Designkitchen, Cameron's teams have successfully concepted and developed award-winning solutions that for Fortune 500 clients, such as Sears, Craftsman, DieHard, Motorola, Burger King, Kimberly-Clark, and United Technologies, among many.
Will Pinnell is the director of mobile strategy at Sabre Holdings, Inc., a company that provides distribution and technology solutions for the travel industry. At Sabre, Mr. Pinnell oversees mobile marketing strategies and research and develops wireless business pricing models for three business units including Sabre Travel Network, Sabre Airline Solutions, and Travelocity, one of the worlds largest travel companies. Prior to Sabre, Pinnell spent nearly 10 years at Handango, most recently as the Senior Director of Content & Strategic Alliances. As an early founder of Handango and industry-recognized mobile expert, he served in various management capacities overseeing business development, strategic marketing, international franchise expansion, social media endeavors and the deployment of subscription services. At Handango, Pinnell oversaw nearly $100M worth of revenue generated directly from his ventures. Pinnell holds double Bachelor of Science degrees in marketing and management from TCU and graduated cum laude from New York's Columbia University Biosphere2 Ecological Studies Program.
Michael Rice, Senior Vice President, Director of Digital, McCann Erickson Los Angeles: Michael Rice is senior vice president, director of digital for McCann Erickson in Los Angeles. He is charged with further strengthening the agencys digital capabilities, including digital strategy and production, and plays a key role in business development and talent recruitment. Michael has an impressive array of interactive experience. He previously held the position of executive vice president, digital, for Integrated Media Solutions, a leading direct response agency in Beverly Hills, CA. At Integrated, he was responsible for managing and growing interactive accounts, as well as supporting sales efforts to generate incremental interactive business. From 2005 to 2008, Michael was senior director of marketing for LeadPoint, Inc., an online acquisition exchange for direct response marketers, serving as a high level marketing strategist. He also has entrepreneurial experience, having built the interactive agency Citrus from the ground up from 1998 to 2004. He also served as the vice president of marketing for a top digital agency, iXL, and as the director of marketing for Fox Broadcasting prior to launching Citrus.
Yahav Isak, SVP of Operations, SVP of Operations, MRM Worldwide: Yahav has over fourteen years of experience in the digital world having built and lead numerous teams to manage the complex world of 360 development of integrated marketing programs. Prior to MRM Worldwide, Yahav built the digital discipline at JWT. He oversaw all digital initiatives, production, and the entire studio operations. Managed clients such as: Microsoft, J&J, Royal Caribbean, Cadbury, Rolex and DTC. Prior to that, Yahav headed TBWA\ TEQUILA\ Interactive group, where he oversaw program management as well as the production disciplines. His clients included: Sprint Nextel, Disney, Chivas, Jameson and Hotels.com. Before that, Yahav spent five years with WorldNow, enabling local TV stations across the US to publish their videos/content online.
Steve Bradbury, Vice President, GoTV Networks: Steve Bradbury is an innovative senior executive with over 16 years of experience across the digital media spectrum. Steve's core value is his ability to optimize and close deals. His career has spanned strategy, business development, business affairs, operations & marketing in both entrepreneurial and corporate environments. For the past 4_ years, Steve has been the VP, Content Strategy & Business Affairs for GoTV Networks, the premiere mobile media network in the US. GoTVs programming is accessible in streaming and on-demand formats via carriers (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltel, Virgin + int'l carriers), application storefronts (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, WinMo) and online (You Tube, MySpace, Daily Motion, MSN, etc). Steve has also monetized assets for companies such as Sony, The Improvisation, Engage Games Online, Openwave/IBM and Proprietary Media among many others. His corporate experience includes tenures at MGM Worldwide Television and Universal/MCA TV. Steve is on the CES Content Advisory Council, moderates panels at major conferences (Digital Hollywood, NATPE, CTIA, etc), speaks to visiting executives (CCTV, Korean Broadcasting), is a board member of the Syracuse University Alumni Association and has led the Hollywood & Digital program at UCLA Extension.
