Michael Lee is CEO of Thoora, a new service that helps people discover the most interesting stories across social and traditional media. Prior to Thoora, Lee served as Chief Strategy Officer for Rogers Communications, where he was responsible for strategy development, business development, and strategic partner management for the Rogers Communications group of companies, which include Rogers Cable, Rogers Wireless, Rogers Media and Rogers New Ventures. Lee also held the roles of VP Strategy and Development, VP Product Management, and VP Product Development at Rogers Cable. Before Rogers, he founded the Internet Startup iMoney. As a well-regarded keynote speaker, Lee has discussed technology innovation at conferences worldwide. Prior speaking engagements include CTAM (Cable Telecommunications Association for Marketing) Supercomm, Mobile World Congress (Barcelona), Worldwide mobile conference, Cable Congress Europe (Berlin), NCTA (Worldwide Cable show), Voice Peering Forum, and numerous investment conferences.
Jacob Morgan, Principal, Chess Media Group: Jacob is the Principal of Chess Media Group, a social business consultancy that focuses on two practice areas to meet business objectives: Social Collaborative Workplaces and Social Customer Communities. Jacob is also the Author of Twittfaced, a social media 101 book for business and has contributed to sites such as Marketing Profs, Zdnet, and Media Post. Recently Jacob was named as a fellow for the Society for New Communications Research and is currently working on his research project focused around Enterprise 2.0. Jacob also authors an Enterprise 2.0 and Social Business blog that is ranked by AdAge as one of the 100 most influential marketing blogs in the world. Previously Jacob ran his own social media startup and worked for a marketing agency, he has worked on or with clients such as Adobe, New Horizons, Sprint, Salesforce, Sandisk, and Conde Nast.
Brian Zisk is a serial entrepreneur and technology industry advisor specializing in digital media, web broadcasting, and distribution technologies. Brian is a co-founder of Collecta, the ultra-hot Streaming Real-time Search Engine. Brian is the Executive Producer of both the SF MusicTech Summit and the Future of Money and Technology Summit. Additionally, Brian is a Co-Founder and Technologies Director of the Future of Music Coalition and a Board Member and/or Strategic Advisor for a wide variety of tech companies and non-profits. Brian was previously a founder of The Green Witch Internet Radio which was sold to CMGI (NASDAQ: CMGI) at the turn of the millennium. He is active in many influential computer-mediated forums, is quoted and published extensively in the media, frequently appears on panels and at industry events domestically and abroad, and is an expert at frenzy whipping, brand awareness, and in creating new business models.
Tommy Means, Creative Director and Partner of Mekanism, recognized that the :30 second spot was having a mid-life crisis and that brands needed different avenues to effectively tell their stories. Tommys vision called for a fully-integrated creative production studioand Mekanism was born. Here, he could lend his talent for storytelling outside the constrictive space between TV shows. Tommy was soon joined by his friends Pete, Ian, and Jason; they rented a warehouse and began gathering talent to help them make spots, short films, virals, TV shows and feature films. Tommys natural talent for directing quickly surfaced. His award-winning commercials and short films have been recognized at Cannes, The One Show, the Creativity No Spot Festival, The Clios, The AICPs, AdWeeks Top 50 Spots, Creativity Magazines Best Work of the Year, and oddly enough The Today Show. Recently, Tommy collaborated with Daily Show comedian Demetri Martin to co-write and direct clearification.com, the pre-launch campaign for Microsoft Windows Vista. Tommy later directed a :60 spot for the global launch of the Nike+ system, a joint venture between Nike and Apple. Tommy is also producing a feature documentary for Mark Cubans HDNet Films about the legendary family of Surfers the Paskowitz. The film is slated for a Summer 2007 theatrical release. Prior to launching Mekanism, Tommy was at Complete Pandemonium, where he learned the art of commercial filmmaking and visual effects.
Will Price is the CEO of Widgetbox, the consumer resource for online widgets and a leading provider of Internet rich media advertising. Prior to joining Widgetbox, Will was managing director at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners where he played a key role in the firms investments in Move Networks, Replay Solutions, Mulesource, Star Analytics, Hubpages, Widgetbox, Kwiry, Infopia and SlideRocket. Prior to joining Hummer Winblad, Will was a senior vice president with Pequot Ventures, where he focused on investments in information technology. Previously, Will served as CEO and COO of several software start-ups. Will graduated from Harvard College and earned his M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University where he graduated at the top of his class.
Tyson Daugherty, Vice President, Internet Development, Future US: Tyson joined Future US in September 2006. As Vice President, Internet Development, he manages the online audience development, ad operations and Internet technology departments. He has overseen multiple site redesigns, new product launches, led key acquisitions and strategic partnerships. Under Tyson's guidance, Future's online portfolio reach has grown from 9 to 30 million monthly unique users. Tyson's current focus is Blips, a real time content discovery platform that reaches 14.4 million monthly unique users across 55 sites. An expert in digital media, Tyson has 15 years of general management and business development experience in media and entertainment. He holds an MBA from INSEAD.
Chris Tolles, CEO, Topix: Chris came to Topix from Spoke Software, a business social networking company, where he was a co-founder and VP of marketing. Before Spoke, Chris was a Director of Marketing at AOL/Netscape for AOL Music, Netscape Search and Directory Products. Chris was a co-founder and VP of Marketing at NewHoo, and led the sale of the company to Netscape. After the acquisition, NewHoo was relaunched as the Open Directory Project at Netscape and became the world's largest human edited directory of the web, and is still used by companies like Google, Alexa and AOL. Previous to NewHoo, Chris held a variety of sales, marketing and management positions at Sun Microsystems. Chris graduated from the University of California at San Diego with degrees in Computer Science and Economics, where he was awarded the Michael J. Addison award for his senior thesis about the online information industry.
