Malik Ducard, SVP Digital Distribution, The Americas, Paramount Digital Entertainment: In this role, Ducard drives revenue and profitability growth, sets the strategic course for the group, and strikes deals with distributors for Paramount's content across Online, Mobile and New Media channels.Ducard collaborates with multiple broadband, wireless, hardware and device partners to expand Paramount's initiatives across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America. After receiving his BA from Columbia, and his MBA from UCLAs Anderson School of Management, Ducard worked in MGM's home entertainment division and launched the Acquisitions and Business Development group. After MGM, Ducard went on to lead the Home Entertainment Acquisitions group at Lionsgate, where he acquired feature films and libraries, as well as executive produced a stand-up comedy series for Showtime.
Stephan Shelanski is executive vice president of programming for Starz Entertainment. In this role, Shelanski is responsible for all original programming and film acquisitions for Starz Entertainment and its 16 linear channels, four HD services, six On Demand platforms and broadband services. Shelanski also oversees all on-air interstitial programming and materials operations content. Under Shelanskis guidance, Starz Originals is creating both original dramatic series (Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Crash) and comedy series (Party Down, Gravity). Prior to joining Starz Entertainment in 1994, Shelanski worked at Home Box Office (HBO) as the director of Cinemax scheduling. He began his career in the HBO Program Research department. Shelanski is a graduate of Harvard with a BA in Mathematics and holds a Masters in Cinema Studies from New York University. Raised in Philadelphia, Shelanski resides in Denver and is married with three children.
Paul Levine, President of Digital, Current TV: Paul Levine is Current's President of New Media, leading the company's consumer engagement and monetization initiatives for online, mobile, and emerging delivery platforms. Paul brings over a dozen years of consumer internet and online media experience to Current. Prior to joining Current, Paul led product, marketing, and customer operations for AdBrite, a leading online ad marketplace backed by Sequoia Capital. Previously, Paul was VP/GM of Local Services at Yahoo!, where he was responsible for the company's Local, Yellow Pages, Maps, Real Estate, and Classifieds businesses. Under his leadership, Yahoo! Local grew to reach over 20 million US unique users and became widely recognized as the industry's leading local search and content destination. Earlier, Paul held a number of management positions during 5 years at E*TRADE, where he was responsible for driving record online account growth for the company. Paul holds a BA from Amherst College and an MBA from Stanford University.
Paul Colichman, co-founder and CEO, Here Media, Inc.: Paul Colichman is a media entrepreneur who began the gay cable channel Here! and the Internet portal GayWired.com. John Waters nicknamed Colichman "the gay Citizen Hearst." Acclaimed filmmaker Paul Colichman is Chairman and partner of Regent Entertainment, a leading independent film company. He is also, President of here! TV, a precedent-setting entertainment destination serving the countrys gay and lesbian audience with quality, star-filled theatricals and video premieres. Recognized as a ground breaking film producer, distributor and entrepreneur, Paul Colichman balances the creative daring of independent films with the pragmatic goals of a movie mogul. His company, Regent Entertainment, Inc. operates like a mini-studio. With a dozen films slated for release this year, he forges a bold niche in the market, creating a haven for originality within budgetary constraints. His achievements include the highly acclaimed "Gods and Monsters" which garnered an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay as well as Academy Award nominations for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress. The picture also received a Golden Globe for Best Actress and a nomination for Best Picture. He also produced the Academy Award Nominated, Tom and Viv; a film version of the off-Broadway hit, Twilight of the Golds, which won three Cable Ace Awards; and My New Gun, which debuted in the coveted Director's Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.
Shannon ONeill serves as Senior Vice President & General Manager of Golf Channels New Media business (part of the Comcast Programming Group). He is responsible for the day-to-day management of all new media operations including product, content, marketing, strategy and technology. Under Shannons direction since August 2007, Golf Channels new media business has grown from single-digit revenues to nearly $50mm. He led development of the strategy and business plan, identified target acquisitions & partnerships, worked with Comcast to close the deals, and led the integration of the acquired companies. Shannon now leads the strategy and execution for the combined business, along with a staff of 125 people. Prior to joining Golf Channel, Shannon served as VP Emerging Networks for Comcast Programming Group, where he was responsible for developing and launching new media businesses. His role at Comcast Programming included concept evaluation, business plan development, partnership evaluation, deal execution and business launch. Shannons final project with Comcast was the launch of FEARnet, the first multi-platform horror network, in partnership with Sony and Lionsgate. Prior to joining Comcast and Golf Channel, Shannon co-founded a startup venture which developed a proprietary system for capturing, filtering and tagging financial information on the web. Shannon began his career in the Philadelphia office of Ernst & Young. He is a CPA and received his BS in Accounting from the University of Delaware. Shannon, his wife Dawn, and their daughter Devin live in the Orlando area.
Jonathan Roth, Director, Siemer & Associates: Mr. Roth joins Siemer & Associates as a Director, where he will bring more than seven years experience providing strategic advisory and corporate finance services to companies throughout the Digital Media industry. Mr. Roth was previously a Senior Vice President at Cascadia Capital where he managed and executed M&A and private placement transactions. Mr. Roth advised numerous technology companies including; Picnik, sold to Google, Umbria Communications, sold to J.D. Power and Associates (McGraw-Hill division) and Shelfari, sold to Amazon.com, Inc., among others. Prior to joining Cascadia Capital, Mr. Roth was a senior banker with DeSilva & Phillips, where he specialized in traditional and Digital Media companies. While at DeSilva and Phillips, Mr. Roth advised on numerous sell-side M&A and private placement transactions including: Austin Ventures investment into All Star Directories, FranchiseGator, sold to aQuantive, IEG, sold to WPP and Mediabistro, sold to WebMediaBrands, Inc. Prior to investment banking, Mr. Roth was a C-level leader and co-founder of two venture-backed Internet companies. Mr. Roth holds a B.A from Columbia College and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
Mark J. Kapczynski, Chief Operating Officer, Kontrol Media: Mark Kapczynski has a successful track record as a serial entrepreneur, chief executive and media industry expert. His current venture, Kontrol Media Corp., is an idea incubator for startups and senior professionals in the media and technology markets including Web 2.0, mobile, and television. Prior to that, he was founder and CEO of MESoft, a media and entertainment software company, for which Kapczynski raised two rounds of seed and venture capital funding exceeding $8MM. Under his leadership, the company also grew its distribution to a global level and partnered with leading IT companies, such as IBM, Sun and AMD, and media companies that include Avid, Ascent Media and Sony. Additionally, he received a patent for a digital media workflow process. From 1995 to 2002, Kapczynski worked at Microsoft Corporation as their Director of Worldwide Media & Entertainment Solutions Group. During that time, he worked with numerous digital media and internet start-ups such as Homestore (now Move.com), Movielink, and MeTV. Mark Kapczynski got his first taste at being an entrepreneur in 1993 when he founded Digital Genesis-a pioneer in the internet/e-commerce space-which was sold to publicly-traded Netgateway, Inc. (NGWY, now IIG) three years later. Mr. Kapczynski graduated from UCLA film school and continues to be active in multiple industry associations that span media, mobile telecom, technology, and Internet Web 2.0. In his free time, Mr. Kapczynski enjoys car racing and playing the drums.
