Bringing content and production from one culture to another is a process of discovery. The panel will present a variety of projects and explore what insights have emerged from efforts to create successful cross-cultural entertainment media products and social networking sites.

Phillip Christon, Founder & Producer, We World Entertainment: Phillip Christon is a critically acclaimed, award-winning writer/director with a career spanning over two decades in mainstream Hollywood and Independent feature film production for virtually every major studio including Paramount Pictures, Universal, Warner Bros., New Line and Fine Line Cinema, and Columbia TriStar, in addition to Superbowl and Oscar contender commercials for DDB Needham, Leo Burnett and TBWA/Chiat/Day, as well as groundbreaking music videos for Sony, Arista, Maverick and Virgin. Upon graduating summa cum laude from the UCLA Film School, Phillip quickly began working with a host of the industry’s most prestigious filmmakers, ranging from Gus Van Sant, Bill Condon, Gore Verbinski and Oliver Stone to top photographers Herb Ritts, Matthew Rolston and Annie Leibovitz, as well as a “Who’s Who” of A-List celebrities spanning the actor/pop-star/athlete gamut, from Keanu Reeves and Madonna to Michael Jordan. As both writer and director, Phillip’s personal projects have premiered, toured and been awarded at major film festival circuits throughout the world, including Cannes, The Seattle International Film Festival, The Hamptons International Film Festival, the Weis Film Festival, Austria and L’Etrange Film Festival, France. His newly formed motion picture production company, We World Entertainment is currently producing a slate of six independent feature films fueled with the mission of eradicating stereotyping in mainstream Hollywood entertainment by targeting, representing and engaging the unified global audience.

Jayson Won, CEO/President, MADM3DIA Entertainment, Inc.: Prior to founding MADM3DIA Entertainment, Jayson was a forerunner in the world of broadcast graphics and entertainment experiences. He was part of the Emmy award-winning team at Aerodrome Pictures and later pioneered dvd menu design and interactive special features as the founder of 1k studios, launching the first releases for MGM, Disney, Polygram, Paramount, 20th Century Fox and Universal Studios. That same creative spirit was at work when Steve Jobs tapped Jayson and 1k to develop the interface design for such Apple iApps as iDVD and, most recently iTunes originals. His latest venture, MADM3DIA Entertainment represents a dream come true – surrounding himself with creative visionaries who share a common passion to inspire and be inspired through the creation of innovative entertainment experiences. MADM3DIA Entertainment is currently producing the first stereoscopic 3D war film, “17 Days of Winter,” helmed by director Eric Brevig and produced by Charlotte Huggins, for a 2012 release date in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Korean War. The story of one of the personal triumph, courage and universal humanity set against the backdrop of the brutal 17 day battle where 12,000 U.S. Marines and soldiers faced overwhelming odds and deadly sub-zero temperatures, while outnumbered by 120,000 Chinese troops in a battle for the soul of a nation.

Michael Peyser, Producer of ‘The Warrior’s Way’, Professor, USC School of Cinematic Arts: Peyser is an accomplished producer of both major studio movies as well as cutting edge independent films, and has spent his career mastering the challenges of the film industry both as a producer and a studio executive. He is currently in post-production on the samurai/western action film “The Warrior’s Way,” starring Jang Dong-Gun, written and directed by Sngmoo Lee. The film also stars Geoffrey Rush, Kate Bosworth and Danny Huston. It will be released by Relativity Media in 2010. Peyser most recently executive produced the groundbreaking U23D, the first stereoscopic live-action 3D film that was the sensation of both the 2007 Cannes and 2008 Sundance Film Festivals before its worldwide release. Peyser’s extensive credits encompass a wide range of commercially and critically successful films, including: “Ruthless People” (Bette Midler, Danny DeVito), “Big Business” (Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin), “Hackers” (Angelina Jolie), “Desperately Seeking Susan” (Madonna), and the children’s classic “Matilda” (directed by Danny DeVito). He also executive produced the Sundance cult classics “Haiku Tunnel” and “SLC Punk.” Additional production credits include Milos Forman’s musical “Hair,” the classic thriller “Marathon Man,” and the hit comedy “Arthur” starring Dudley Moore and Sir John Gielgud. He supervised production on several Woody Allen films including “Manhattan,” “Stardust Memories,” “Zelig,” “Broadway Danny Rose,” and “Purple Rose of Cairo.” In addition to his producing credits, Peyser was the founding senior vice president of Hollywood Pictures at The Walt Disney Studios where he supervised creative development, production and a broad release schedule for an extensive slate of films. Peyser is also a tenured professor at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, where he teaches all aspects of producing and the filmmaking enterprise. He is involved in research and development of creative production pipelines, digital studio stagecraft, storytelling and immersive media.

Joyce Lan Kim,
CEO, Soompi.com: Joyce Lan Kim is CEO of Soompi.com, the largest English site for Korean and Asian pop entertainment fans. Initially started as a hobby, Soompi has grown into a rapidly growing startup with a community that receives more than 1 million unique visitors a month. Joyce was also the co-host of “The Giga-Om Show,” a weekly online show regarding the internet industry and the business side of technology and social media. Prior to running Soompi, Joyce was an attorney practicing venture capital financing and mergers and acquisitions in the Palo Alto office of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP and in the capital markets group in the New York office of Shearman & Sterling LLP where she worked on public securities offerings. Joyce entered college after completing one year of high school, graduated from Cornell University at the age of 19 and went on to receive an A.M. in Regional Studies, East Asia from Harvard University and a J.D. from Columbia Law School. Originally from New York City, Joyce currently lives San Francisco, California.

Ted Kim, EVP, CJ Entertainment America: Ted Kim is President and Head of Production of CJ Entertainment America where his duties include corporate strategy and planning as well as leading the company's English language production activities. CJ Entertainment is a vertically integrated media company active in film, television, music, live performance and electronic media and one of the leading media and entertainment studios in Asia. Ted most recently led CJ Entertainment's development and production partnership with 1492 Pictures and Chris Columbus. He was also an integral part of CJ's acquisition of a US cable network and is now a member of the company's Board of Directors. CJ will convert the network into an English-language Asian content focused channel. He is also currently a producer on the English language feature films "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance_" (Warner Brothers), _"A Bittersweet Life"_ (Fox) and _"Korean Wedding_" (Lions Gate) for CJ Entertainment. Ted’s interest in promoting Asian entertainment in the US, and Asian American entertainment globally, has led him to remain active in the Asian American media community. He was an Executive Producer of the feature films _"Yellow_" and _"West 32nd" as well as a Co-producer of the English language remake of _"My Sassy Girl." He is a board member of the Lodestone Theater Ensemble (www.lodestonetheatre.org), a Los Angeles based Asian American performance society.

Jeremy Ross,
President, Prestidigital Publishing: Jeremy Ross is an executive producer specializing in new product and new business development. He is a member of the Producers’ Guild of America. The common theme uniting his career is adapting print storytelling & information for cross-media deployment, especially in animation, interactive media and games. He led new product development at TOKYOPOP since 2003, adapting the company’s original manga (Asian-style comics) into mobile applications, eBooks, games, animation, film and other media. He successfully launched the first mobile manga viewer available via major US carriers with partner uclick, and the first e-ink manga for SONY’s Reader. Jeremy initiated TOKYOPOP’s original manga development, signing IP deals with over 100 worldwide creators and creating the Pilot program. He founded TOKYOPOP’s Manga Online Web site to expose this work to fans and taught a pioneering seminar about manga at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Immediately prior to joining TOKYOPOP, Ross served as executive producer at Kleiser-Walczak, developing the company business plan and spearheading expansion into games and consumer products. His production credits include the award-winning short animated 3-D CGI film Little Miss Spider: Lost and Found and CGI visual effects for Julie Taymor’s film Frida. Jeremy was previously Director of New Technology at Callaway Media from 1997 to 2001, where he supervised acclaimed cross-media projects with author David Kirk. His lifelong interest in games led his post as VP of Computer Games at Byron Preiss Multimedia from 1992 to 1997 where he directed and produced several award-winning standalone and online games. Jeremy has strong relationships with Korean artists, government agencies and business partners. He has served as a judge & speaker at KOCCA-sponsored events in Seoul and L.A. and a speaker at a number of Korea’s leading conferences.
