Antonio Rodriguez, General Partner, Matrix Partners: Antonio Rodriguez is a general partner, Matrix Partners. Antonio loves disruptive products almost as much as the entrepreneurs behind them, and happened to get lucky enough to enter the technology industry as the commercial Internet began to redefine entire industries. With 15 years of operating experience as an engineer, manager, CEO, and founder, he is eager to partner with entrepreneurs looking to make a dent in the universe. Originally a native of Venezuela, Antonios love of technology began when he learned to program on an Apple II as a nine year old. That early spark inspired him to become a hacker and serial entrepreneur. Most recently, Antonio was CTO of HPs consumer Imaging and Printing division where he led a wide array of projects in the areas of mass customization, e-reading, mobile platforms, and next generation web platforms for content consumption. He came to HP through the acquisition of Tabblo, where he was founder and CEO. Tabblo, a Matrix-backed company, was a high-end photo site focused on bringing together the viral nature of online content publishing with the high margins of digital printing. Prior to that, Antonio held a variety of engineering, product, and business development roles at MyPublisher (currently the leading photo book manufacturer in the US), abuzz Technologies (acquired by the New York Times), and the Boston Consulting Group. Antonios area of focus include consumer Internet, mobile, software and Internet infrastructure.
Gil Beyda, Managing Partner, Genacast Ventures: Gil is a seasoned entrepreneur turned venture capitalist. Gil launched his first company Mind Games in 1982 to develop games for the original Apple II. Gil then started a software consulting firm with Fortune 100 clients in the U.S., Asia and Europe. In 1995, Gil helped pioneer Internet advertising by founding Real Media, the first online ad network and ad server company. After Real Media was acquired in 2001, Gil pioneered the next wave of online advertising as CTO of TACODA, the first behavioral targeting, ad network. Following AOLs acquisition of TACODA in 2007, Gil founded Genacast Ventures.
Jeff Richards, Partner, GGV Capital: Jeff Richards joined GGV Capital as a Partner in the Menlo Park office in 2008. Jeff's primary areas of focus are on Internet, Applications Software, Mobile and Enterprise Infrastructure technologies. Jeff led GGV's investment and serves on the Board of Appirio and BlueKai, and is actively involved in GGV's investments in Qunar, hiSoft, Focus and 21ViaNet. Prior to GGV, Jeff was the Vice President of Digital Content Services at VeriSign, where he oversaw the company's efforts in the Broadband Content space. Prior to VeriSign, Jeff was a co-founder and CEO of R4GS, a software and services provider acquired by VeriSign. Prior to R4GS, Jeff was a Co-Founder of Quantum Shift, a telecommunications software firm. Earlier in his career, Jeff was a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he led technology, banking and consumer products engagements in the U.S. and Asia Pacific. Jeff graduated from Dartmouth College with an A.B. degree. In addition to his efforts with GGV, Jeff serves on the Board of the First Tee of the Tri Valley, Advisory Board of the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Foundation, and is active with several other nonprofits in the greater Bay Area.
Len Rand, Managing Director, Granite Ventures: Len Rand joined Granite Ventures in May 2002, after spending nearly three decades working inside both public and private companies. As CEO of four private companies, he successfully turned them into public entities through acquisition. Prior to joining Granite, Len was General Manager of Strategic Marketing and Global Alliances for the Intel Communications Group (ICG) at Intel Corporation. Len joined Intel after serving as CEO and Founder of NetBoost Corporation, which was acquired by Intel Corporation in 1999. NetBoost was a developer of network processor silicon, subsystems and software development systems. Granite Ventures was a lead investor in the company. Prior to NetBoost, Len was Co-founder of Internet Middleware, Inc., an Internet proxy caching company acquired by Network Appliance, Inc. in 1997, as well as CEO of The Whitewater Group (acquired by Symantec). Len was also CEO at the Rand Group (acquired by Intergraph Corporation), and was Vice President & General Manager at both Intergraph Corporation and Autodesk, Inc. Len has extensive technical and operational background in the semiconductor and communications industries, and focuses his investments in communications and components companies. He serves on the Boards of Directors for Aspen Avionics, HyTrust, Ozmo Devices, Plato Networks and PowerGenix. Len holds several degrees including a B.S. degree in Building Sciences, a B.S. degree in Engineering, a BArch degree in Architecture, and an M.S. degree in Structural Engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Jay C. MacDonald, CEO/Managing Partner, Digital Capital Partners LLC, eValue AG Entrepreneur, active investor & skilled digital media M&A professional, Jay C. MacDonald's career includes 20+ years of leading high growth and rapidly changing media companies and investment banks. Mr. MacDonald is the currently the CEO/Co-Founder of Digital Capital Partners, LLC, a new york based investment bank that specializes in digital media with an emphasis on cross border M&A and Capital raises. Highlights of his banking successes include representing Microsoft Corp. in the divestiture of a lead generation asset; selling a German based Ad Serving company to DoubleClick; a US based Ad Network to a UK based media company and a US based Interactive agency to a Dutch listed company in Amsterdam. Mr. MacDonald is also currently the Managing Partner of the eValue Group, an early stage Venture Capital firm that invests in digital media companies in the US and Europe. Additionally, he owns MAG-TECH Capital Partners, LLC, a US based media consulting firm. Previously, Mr. MacDonald was a partner with DeSilva & Phillips, where he founded and led the digital media & technology group; the Founder/CEO of WorkingWomanNetwork; Co-Founder/CEO of World Congress, Inc. as well as the former publisher of Inc. Magazine.
Peg Jackson, Managing Partner, Cava Capital: Peg joined the Cava Capital team in 2010, bringing a tremendous background of investing and operating expertise from over 15 years at NeoCarta Ventures, NBC and Reuters. Peg joined NeoCarta Ventures in May, 2000, investing in the technology sector and managing the portfolio. Investments include SilverPop, Zoom Systems, Cendura (acquired by Computer Associates), Datasynapse (acquired by Tibco) and Myrio (acquired by Siemens). Prior to joining NeoCarta Ventures, Peg was Vice-President of Business Development at NBC. She joined NBC in 1996, making investments in Internet and communication companies. Investments include Tivo (TIVO) and LivePerson (LPSN). Prior to NBC, Peg worked in the business development group at Reuters New Media, where she managed new acquisition and joint venture projects. She was also employed as a Media Analyst for the Toronto Dominion Bank. Peg received a BA in Economics from Georgetown University and an MBA from New York University. Peg is married with three children and enjoys sailing, skiing and cooking.
