John Caplan, founder and CEO, OpenSky: an innovative new online retail network that ena
bles influential people, from celebrities and authors to popular bloggers and journalists, to offer the goods and services they love directly to their communities through their own online shop. OpenSky was founded in May 2009 and has raised $11 million from Highland Capital, Canaan Partners and Ron Conway. Prior to starting OpenSky, John was the President and CEO of FORD Models, the world’s foremost modeling agency, where he not only expanded FORD’s core business but developed the artists division and created and launched the agency’s digital media business, leading the iconic brand into the future. Before joining FORD Models, John was an integral part of About.com, first as Chief Marketing Officer and later President. He played a key role in facilitating the company’s sale to Primedia for $700mm in 2001. His early experience includes leading the strategic development and marketing for the launch of the Arizona Iced Tea brand and overseeing regional marketing for Starbucks Coffee Company. He graduated from the University of Rochester with a B.A. in English and lives in NYC.




Rana Sobhany, Brand Storyteller, The iPad DJ: Rana Sobhany is not a marketer, at least n
ot in the traditional sense. She is a brand storyteller who believes that polish is the key to success in creating a lasting and memorable brand. Specializing in developing customer acquisition strategies, brand positioning, and leveraging public relations as marketing, Rana applies her unique style and methodology of integrated marketing communications to promoting companies and ideas across political, nonprofit, mobile, entertainment, advertising and social channels. As co-founder of Medialets, the largest in-application analytics and advertising platform for the iPhone, Rana Sobhany has been deeply involved in the successful design, implementation, and execution of comprehensive iPhone application marketing campaigns for products across the industry since the very beginning of the space, and was among the first to promote app marketing as a discrete practice. She has coached mobile application developers at every level: solo developers; indie development shops; creative and media buying agencies; and large, venture-backed application firms. As a thought leader in the field of monetizing iPhone applications, Rana's assistance is often requested to help guide new and experienced developers through the world of marketing. Rana is a frequent speaker at mobile conferences, helping educate developers about how best to fit their products into the iPhone ecosystem.


Chris Monteleone, Vice President, Interactive Business Operations & Revenue, Madison Square Garden: Chris Monteleone is currently Vice President of Business Operations and Revenue for Madison Square Garden and Fuse Interactive a division of Madison Square Garden, Inc. In his current role, Chris is responsible for the monetization of MSG and Fuse content across mobile, web and all other emerging platforms. The MSGi network of websites includes the sports teams of the Knicks, Rangers and Liberty, iconic venues Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden as well as the respective sites for the Fuse and MSG cable networks. Prior to MSGi Chris was Director of Digital Development for Rainbow Media, In that role he developed business opportunities and partnerships with interactive media companies in the mobile, internet and emerging platform sectors of the business. Rainbow Media consists of multiple nationally distributed networks (AMC, IFC, WE, Sundance), which comprise over 250MM homes in aggregate. Over his career, Chris has held positions at Cablevision, E! Entertainment Networks and The Game Show Network. Chris is a graduate of Fairfield University in Connecticut and resides with his family in Huntington, NY.


Toby Southgate, Managing Director, The Brand Union: Toby joined The Brand Union at the en
d of 2007, and was responsible for the successful launch of our Abu Dhabi office. After just over 2 years in the Middle East, he took on a new role as Managing Director of The Brand Union New York in January 2010. Toby's background focuses on developing and managing international client relationships, with experience across the UK and Europe, the MENA region, and the Americas. Before joining The Brand Union, Toby led the start-up of US operations for Marque Creative, and in another previous life, managed the business development and client services functions at Navyblue Design Group. In both positions he has worked with international clients on understanding and communicating their brands and offers more effectively. Toby has created and implemented new strategies for business acquisition and retention, and for strategic commercial development. He has led branding projects for clients including the Royal Bank of Scotland, the London 2012 Olympic bid team, Mubadala Development Company, Sorouh Real Estate, RMJM International Architects, Tottenham Hotspur FC, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The Macallan and Remy Cointreau. Born in London and educated at Millfield School and The University of Edinburgh, Toby spent 9 years in Scotland before moving to New York in 2005. After 2 years in the Middle East, he returned to New York with The Brand Union at the start of 2010. He plays hockey, cricket and golf to a competitive standard.


Steven Rosenbaum is an entrepreneur, author, and curator. As the CEO of the web's largest Video Curation Platform, Magnify.net - he provides a realtime curation solution that powers more than 83,000 sites, including NY Magazine, New York Magazine, Mediaite, and The Week.com. Increasingly, curated content is powering ecommerce, brands, and organizations like Patagonia, National Wildlife Federation and RocaWear. Rosenbaum created MTV's groundbreaking user-generated series MTV UNfiltered, a pre-web television project that handed cameras to young storytellers. Since that time he has built a career finding, organizing, and contextualizing stories. Rosenbaum's work in media includes filmmaking work as an Emmy Award winning documentary filmmaker. His film “7 Days In September” gathered more than 500 hours of video around 9/11 – creating a curated journey through the eyes of 28 filmmakers and citizen storytellers. Rosenbaum's vision of curation is the subject of his book Curation Nation (McGrawHill / Spring 2011) engages with more than 60 thought leaders and companies to help explore and define the power of Curation for Brands, Media, and Consumers. Today, Rosenbaum calls Curation the “New Magic” of the connected world – fixing the signal to noise problem, and making the world contextual and coherent again.

Harry Kargman, founder and CEO, Kargo: Kargo is a mobile technology leader. Kargo helps
publishers mobilize, distribute, and monetize their content.  Harry is responsible for future product planning and the day to day strategic vision.  Harry has been featured on 20/20, The Today Show, the New York Times, NPR and in major business publications around the world.   Harry has spoken at CTIA, GSM, the CDMA World Congress, COMDEX and other events.  Harry holds six patents on wireless technology and graduated with honors from Harvard College. Kargo was founded in 2003 and partners with major media companies to create the best in branded mobile sites, widgets and applications.  Kargo leverages its global distribution relationships to build audience as well as its carrier billing capabilities and advertising management solutions.  In addition, Kargo integrate community features and social media into its products to deliver engaged fans. Kargo works with major media companies including Rolling Stone, Us Weekly, Shape, Motor Trend, Blackbook, Star Magazine, Tiger Beat, Spin Magazine, Consumer Reports and many others.
