Edgar Villalpando, SVP Marketing, ActiveVideo Networks: Edgar joined ActiveVideo in 2008 and is responsible for global market strategy and product marketing for ActiveVideo®.  Edgar’s extensive media and consumer products experience includes executive positions with HBO and DIRECTV, and as Founder of THUMP, an agency that developed branded content through a combination of traditional and new media platforms.  With HBO, Edgar served as vice president, new media and business development for the programmer’s international group, with specific responsibility for expanding linear and new media properties into new territories.  Edgar previously had served as vice president, marketing for HBO, driving and managing international marketing and communications efforts for the HBO and Cinemax brands.  With DIRECTV,  Edgar first served as director of marketing and advertising with a focus on supporting the satellite provider’s new and international programming services within United States. Edgar began his career in advertising in the agency world, working on blue-chip brands such as Ford, Miller Brewing, Mobil Oil, Wesson Oil, and several other accounts.  He holds a B.A. in Psychology from UCLA.

Greg Willis, Client Sales Executive, Communications, Media & Entertainment, HP Enterprise
Services: Greg Willis is client sales executive for HP’s Communications, Media & Entertainment Industry. He is responsible for the cable and broadcast segment for Media & Entertainment, with primary focus on broadcast networks, cable networks, cable and satellite operators, broadband, and music companies. Willis helps clients develop new products and services, create innovative business models and next generation technology platforms. Willis’ extensive media and industry experience includes executive positions with a number of leader content and technology companies. A 25-year veteran of the cable, broadcast communications, and broadband industries, Willis previously held the position of senior vice president, sales for Ascent Media. Willis was responsible for Sales for Ascent Systems & Technology Services businesses. He was responsible for securing major new contracts with Fox News Channel, for the launch of Fox Business Network, The Weather Channel, NBCU, CBS and U.S. Senate. Before Ascent, Willis was executive vice president, Affiliate Sales & Marketing for WheelsTV. He was responsible for Affiliate Sales, Marketing, Broadband, and Network Operations and also for the launch of WheelsTV On-Demand and Broadband on Comcast. In addition, Willis previously held the position of senior vice president of Global Sales Operations & Marketing for PanAmSat, a leading satellite services provider. He was responsible for Global Sales Operations, Marketing, Product Management, Customer Relations, Business Affairs and Market Intelligence. Willis has also held several other leadership positions with prestigious companies including senior vice president, Business Development for Interactive Video Technology; senior vice president, Affiliates Sales & Marketing for Liberty Media’s The Box Music Network and DMX Music; vice president, Digital Networks for Scripps Networks; member of the initial start-up team for the Food Network, where he became senior vice president of worldwide distribution; and vice president, Sales & Marketing for The Charlton Group, a direct marketing firm. Willis began his media career at HBO, where he spent nine years in various sales, marketing and finance positions in New York and Dallas. He graduated from Boston University, where he majored in Economics and earned a bachelor of arts. He is a past board member of Cable in the Classroom. In addition, he is a recipient of Cable Telecommunications Association for Marketing’s Gold and Silver Awards, and The New England Cable TV Association’s Public Service Award. Gregory Willis is a member of CTAM, SMPTE and serves on the advisory committee for HD World and CTAM Advanced Advertising Committee.

Wayne Josel, New Media, Entertainment and Technology group, Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP: Wayne's practice focuses on the legal, strategic and policy issues arising out of the convergence of technology, entertainment and media. Eric Hoffert, CTO, Thwapr: Thwapr CTO Eric Hoffert will discuss how

Eric will illustrate the dramatic changes in multimedia delivery and user experience for mobile devices and showcase how the company’s unique solution is supporting a new level of capability for mobile marketing and end-user experience. Eric is a digital video pioneer with more than 25 years of experience launching new businesses and building successful products and patented technologies. He has played a key role in digital media and collaborative software businesses at AT&T, Apple, and Bell Labs, and is credited with inventing the first software video codec in QuickTime now used on more than 500 million computers. He serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Digital Asset Management and is Chairman of Versatility Software, a strategic technology-consulting firm specialized in digital media, content management, and online video. He was Co-Founder, CTO, and Chairman of the Board for Magnifi, a digital asset management firm where he developed award-winning, patented technologies for ABC, CBS, Warner Bros., and Disney. Eric has the experience as well as the insight of where the publishing industry can go in the new world of mobile media content.



Jonathan Weitz is a partner at IBB Consulting, LLC. Jonathan Weitz helps clients pioneer ne
w products and services, develop innovative business models, design successful organization structures and optimize business operations. Over the course of his career, Jonathan has advised companies such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Showtime, Sony Pictures Television, The Golf Channel, IAC/InteractiveCorp, Goldman Sachs and Intel.
