Mark Ely, Executive Vice President of Strategy, Sonic Solutions: Mark Ely joined Sonic Solutions in 1992. Mr. Ely has served as executive vice president of strategy at Sonic Solutions since April 2005. A leader in digital media software, Sonic develops products ranging from the advanced authoring systems used to produce Hollywood DVD and Blu-ray Disc titles to award-winning consumer applications and services. During his tenure, Mark has played a leading role in partner relations as well as mergers and acquisitions. Currently, Mark is directing Sonics Premium Content Group, which is focused on delivering high-quality digital entertainment to a broad range of consumer electronics. Mr. Ely received a B.A. from Middlebury College and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School at UCLA.
Erick Opeka, Head of Digital Distribution, New Video: a global distribution company bringing top television, cutting-edge documentaries, independent film, professional sports, and childrens programming to the home entertainment marketplace. As the worlds largest independent digital video distributor, New Video provides over 11,000 hours of film and television from more than 120 trusted brands to all major download and streaming platforms. New Video distributes content from major brand partners including A&E, HISTORY, Major League Baseball, Arthouse Films and Scholastic, among others. Most recently, Erick partnered with Zipline Entertainment in the ground-breaking distribution of Sundance Official Selection Bass Ackwards, which was available nationally in millions of homes via digital and VOD platforms as well as DVD-on-demand during the festival. Previously, Erick worked in theatrical marketing for Madstone Theaters, a nationwide Arthouse chain, and later marketed DVD releases for the Docurama Films and A&E Home Entertainment labels, including eighteen Academy Award®-winning and nominated feature documentaries. Erick holds a BA from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Florida State University.
Daniel S. Simpkins, Founder, Chairman and CEO, Hillcrest Labs: Dan Simpkins founded Hillcrest Labs in 2001 with a team of experienced technical and business professionals to create a revolution in entertainment. Prior to Hillcrest, Dan was Vice President and General Manager of the SALIX Switching Division of Tellabs, Inc., which was established in 2000 when Dan sold Voice over IP leader SALIX Technologies to Tellabs for $300 million. Dan founded SALIX in 1990 and continued as president and CEO through the sale. Dan currently serves on the Board of Advisors of Cornell Universitys BR Ventures and is a member of the prestigious Cornell University Council. He also sits on the Board of Advisors of several high-tech companies and is a member of CTAM. Dan served as an Executive in Residence for New Enterprise Associates (NEA), one of the countrys premier VC firms. He is a frequent speaker at industry and business events and has authored many papers on both technical and business subjects. Dan earned both a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering with Distinction and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.
Jeremy Toeman, founder and Managing Partner, Stage Two Consulting: Jeremy Toeman is an expert in the convergence of digital media and consumer technology. He has spent over 10 years designing, and marketing numerous award-winning consumer electronics products and Web services. Jeremy is the founder and managing partner at Stage Two Consulting, a strategic marketing and media relations firm he launched in 2006. At Stage Two he has consulted with Boxee, VUDU, DivX, the Boxee Box by D-Link, Clicker.com, and many other consumer technology companies. Before founding Stage Two, Jeremy joined Sling Media in 2004 as VP of Product Management. He was responsible for guiding development of the Slingbox from conception to launch, helping take the vision of the founders and shape it into a physical product. While at Sling Media, he was the company evangelist and was responsible for building grassroots/viral marketing programs. This included developing the companys online presence with regards to various Web communities and blogs. Since launch, the Slingbox and its corresponding software components have won numerous industry awards. In 1999, Jeremy co-founded Mediabolic, a software company that provided digital media networking technology to consumer electronics and computer manufacturers (acquired by Macrovision in 2007). While at Mediabolic, Jeremy contributed to the design of digital home devices for companies including Pioneer Electronics, HP, Fujitsu, and Denon. Jeremy also sat on the steering committees for DLNA and the UPnP AV Working Group. Jeremy holds a B.S. in Economics and Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
Todd Weaver, Founder and CEO, ivi TV (ivi, Inc.) : Todd Weaver has been helping Hollywood with online video delivery from behind the scenes for more than a decade. Since 1998, his work has been concentrated on video delivery technologies by consulting on a wide range of projects involving the creation of solutions for making Internet video distribution more robust by increasing its efficiency. Weaver has provided senior-level consulting related to online video distribution for major Hollywood studios with Entertainment Works and interactive distribution with Impart Media Group, where he served as CTO, in addition to online audio and video distribution with PlayNetwork, in his capacity as a software architect. Later, he became dedicated to delivering a proof of concept for live video delivery by solving the problems of scale and security. In 2007 he had his a-ha moment and incorporated ivi, inc (ivi TVs parent company) realizing he had solved the live video delivery conundrum. Subsequently, he has been squarely focused on improving upon his breakthrough and readying ivi TV for its recent infamous launch, which has thrust him into the spotlight with ivi TVs highly disruptive technology that has taken the world by storm enabling consumers to watch live TV anytime, anywhere they have an Internet connection. Along the way, Weaver has been recognized for his visionary strategy, technical leadership, and for evoking an entrepreneurial culture in his ambitious start-up. Mr. Weaver is married with two daughters and lives in Seattle, WA, where ivi TV is based.
Richard Glosser, President, Hilltop Digital: Richard Glosser has been identifying and building cross-platform digital media businesses for over 15 years. He has lead teams that have built award-winning Web Sites, TV programs, broadband video series, mobile sites and applications, and integrated marketing programs. Glosser has closed strategic and business development relationships that have driven significant revenue streams. Glosser has worked across all facets of production and distribution of film, television, cable, Internet, mobile, publishing and emerging media. Currently, Glosser is President of Hilltop Digital, his consulting company where he focuses on helping media companies with digital strategy; content and product development; business partnerships; and advertising and pay business models. Glosser is also currently on the Advisory Board of promising start-up companies including a digital video guide for connected devices, a local mobile offer platform and an e-reader platform for iPhone and iPads. In addition, Glosser is consulting for media and marketing companies to develop new products and business models around digital media. Clients include: MediaLink, Alpha Media/Maxim, ABC News, Phillips Van Heusen/IZOD, ION Media and others. Previously, Glosser was Executive Director of Emerging Media for Condé Nast Digital (CND), the digital division of Conde Nast Publications. He joined CND in 2005 and spent four years developing the company's video, mobile and emerging media initiatives. Under his leadership, Glosser produced thousands of videos for over a dozen different magazine and web brands including Style.com, Vogue.com, Epicurious, GQ, Glamour, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker and others. He also worked closely with the sales, publishing and creative services teams to drive revenue through integrated advertiser programs that included video, mobile and emerging platforms. Glosser won an Emmy as Executive Producer by the NY Chapter of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences. CND programs have also been recognized by the International Academy of Visual Sciences, MIN, the Magazine Publishers Association and others. In addition, Glosser led the cross-departmental video platform team that defined CNDs product requirements, selected vendors and managed implementation across twenty sites. Glosser created strategic relationships with video publishing and distribution partners such as Brightcove, YouTube, Hulu, Verizon VCast, Sonys BIVL service, Boxee, Emerging Cinema and others. For CND mobile efforts, Glosser led mobile strategy, vendor relationships, advertising strategy and strategic Apple relations to support the launch of CNDs first six iPhone apps. Prior to joining Condé Nast, Mr. Glosser had senior leadership roles at CSTV: College Sports Television, Bolt Media, and NBC Sports. His early career was at Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), where he was Founder and President of SPE's digital media division, Columbia TriStar Interactive, where he launched and managed all of the studios early Web efforts. During his eleven years at Sony, Glosser launched Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune online and helped launch SPE's basic cable network, Game Show Network and Sony Online Entertainments Everquest. Glosser has a BS from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Columbia Business School. He is married with two children and lives in New York City.
