Internet Video, Advertising & Marketing: The Next Generation of Consumer Reach Video on the Internet has finally passed the critical threshold of acceptance by the advertising and marketing communities as a more than viable alternative to traditional media. Internet delivered video has not only entered the advertising space, it has invaded it and in a very short number of years, Internet delivered video will be a dominant entertainment and communications consumer medium. The scary part for traditional media, Internet delivered video may end up on a PC, a mobile device or on a TV and for the advertising and marketing industries, an emerging and maturing delivery system to an ever elusive audience is exactly what they are looking for. Joy Marcus, US General Manager, Dailymotion: Joy Marcus joined Dailymotion in early 2007. In her role as US general manager, she is responsible for spearheading the Companys growth and development in the region. Ms. Marcus has an extensive background in media and entertainment. Most recently, she served as senior vice president of Time Warner Global Marketing, where she was responsible for developing partnerships with marketers for integration with Time Warner media and entertainment properties including AOL, Turner television networks, Time Inc. magazines, Warner Bros. television and film, New Line Cinema and HBO. Prior to her role at Time Warner, she was head of business development for Barnes&Noble.com. Ms. Marcus was a key member of the senior management team at the time of the Companys IPO. Her functions included oversight of online distribution and affiliate marketing programs, responsibility for product launches and strategies, and P&L responsibility for approximately 25% of the business. Prior to that, she served as vice president of business development for MTV International, where she negotiated arrangements for new channel launches in Asia, South Africa and Russia and contributed to the restructuring of operations in Brazil. Ms. Marcus attended Princeton University and New York University School of Law where she focused on Intellectual Property law. She began her career as an M&A lawyer, practicing at international firm Debevoise & Plimpton. She also served as in-house counsel at MTV networks. Focusing on content development, she negotiated the first record label deals for MTV as well as numerous agreements for original series including The Real World.
Gloria Pitagorsky, Senior and Executive, Sound Lounge: A 13 year media industry veteran, Gloria Pitagorsky started her career as a journalist, then moved into talent management serving as a talent agent at Shiffman, Eckman, Morrison & Marx. She then returned to production with stints at Nutmeg, Photomag, audioEngine and Sound Lounge where she serves as Executive Producer for tv & new media. Pitagorsky is actively involved with Chicken & Egg Pics, a film fund that supports women filmmakers, particularly those making films dedicated to social change. She is developing a political documentary and was recently elected to the Democratic County Committee. Pitagorsky is a member of New York Women in Film & Television, Association of Independent Producers as well as the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
Randy Kilgore, Chief Revenue Officer, Tremor Media: As Chief Revenue Officer at Tremor Media, Randy Kilgore is responsible for managing the companys sales and inventory growth, expanding its relationships with advertisers and publishers, and overseeing the development of new strategic initiatives. Before joining Tremor Media, Randy spent more than 16 years with Dow Jones & Company, most recently as Senior Vice President of Advertising for Dow Jones Online, which includes The Wall Street Journal Online, MarketWatch, and Barrons Online. He has served on the boards of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and the Online Publishers Association (OPA), and was named to Media Magazines 100 Most Influential list in 2005.
Larry Rubin, COO, Cross MediaWorks: a strategic holding company that manages an array of media across diverse platforms on both a targeted and measured basis. The companies operate in the disciplines of strategic media buying, advertising, full-service creative, marketing and digital/interactive services for both top-tier brand and direct response clients. Rubin also currently serves as the Senior Executive Producer for IndieShop, a new, multimedia shopping and entertainment network that blends t-commerce and e-commerce by featuring the wares of independent designers both on TV and through the online boutique IndieShop.com. Having over 20 years of M&A and operational experience in the media industry, Rubin previously served as senior vice president, business development and strategic planning for USA Networks and vice president, associate general counsel transactions for Viacom.
Bob Martin, Chief Marketing Officer, Reach Media Group (RMG): As Reach Media Group (RMG)s chief marketing officer, industry veteran Bob Martin oversees the companys overall market positioning strategy and tactical execution. Bob, who joined the leading place-based, video media company in November 2009, brings with him 17 years of advertising agency and media and ambient marketing experience. Most recently, Bob was CEO at LevelVision LLC, a place-based media network with floor-based screens in over 300 college bookstores. Prior to LevelVision, he founded Bob Martin Media Consulting, an advertising & creative media consultancy in San Francisco, where he developed high-impact, high-ROI strategies for his media vendor, agency and brand marketer clients. Previously, Bob served as a senior-level media planning director with Universal McCann, where he led the agencys strategies within the interactive TV, out-of-home and cinema advertising landscapes and envisioned many media-first programs and platforms, including the Digital Brand Experience corridor at JFK airport. Named a 2007 Media All-Star by Mediaweek magazine, Bob was a chief judge at the 2007 OAAA Outdoor Media Awards. He was a founding advisor to and continues to serve as a board member of the Digital Place-based Advertising Association (DPAA, ex-OVAB). Bob is an alumnus of the SI Newhouse School at Syracuse University.
Adam Cahan, Chief Executive Officer, Auditude, Inc.: Adams career has been focused on online publishing, digital distribution and advertising. Prior to joining Auditude, Adam was Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for MTV Networks. There Adam supported the Music and Youth (MTV, VH1, CMT, MTV2); Kids and Family (Nickelodeon, Noggin, NeoPets); and Entertainment (Comedy Central, Spike, Atom Entertainment) teams in areas of monetization, distribution and acquisitions. Highlights included partnering with Yahoo! for search monetization, Google for Hyper-distribution, redesign of MTV.com and development of Hulus founding principles. Prior to MTVN Adam served in a leadership capacity at Google in Business Operations where he supported the development of brand advertising, wireless, and video products along with international market entry strategy. Adams background includes positions with NBC Universal in Business Development and McKinsey & Company where as an Associate Principal he worked with clients in areas of technology and media including Microsoft, Yahoo!, The New York Times, AT&T Wireless, and Cingular Wireless. Adam has spoken on the topic of online video advertising at numerous industry conferences including the 2009 Goldman Sachs Technology & Internet Conference, ad:tech San Franciso, and AlwaysOn Stanford Innovation Summit. He was named to the Hollywood Reporters Digital Power 50 in recognition for his role in helping shape digital media. Auditude has also been recognized with multiple industry awards, including being an OnHollywood 100 category winner and inclusion of AlwaysOn Global 250, which represents the top private companies operating in the global technology industries.
Brad Elders is the SVP of Sales for 5min Media. Brad has over 20 years of experience in media advertising sales. He previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of TidalTV, a video advertising start-up and also served as the SVP of North American sales for IPTV provider Joost. Additionally, Brad ran national sales for Massive Incorporated, a video game advertising pioneer (acquired by Microsoft) and built and led a new business development team at MTV Networks whose core mission was to diversify MTV's advertising business.
