Tom Conrad, CTO, Pandora: For the last 20 years, Tom has been designing and developing interactive applications for both the desktop and web. Tom has worked on a diverse range of products, from operating systems and enterprise software to video games and consumer products. He has led a number engineering and product design teams at both early- and late-stage companies. Tom holds three US patents, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan. He occasionally posts interesting finds to his blog.
GEORGE LINARDOS, Vice President, Product Management, Media, Nokia Inc.: As VP Product Management for Nokias Media group, George Linardos is responsible for product strategy, development and marketing of Nokias global mobile content services. Prior to his current role, George was Director of Mosh. In this role, he co-founded and served as the general manager of mosh.nokia.com, Nokias integrated web and mobile platform for the global distribution and sharing of user-generated mobile content. Prior to MOSH, Mr. Linardos served as Head of Branded Content & Aggregators where he was responsible for driving global business development efforts and alliances with major media and entertainment companies. Mr. Linardos came to Nokia from a similar position at Macromedia as Director of Programming. Previously, George formed and ran the Digital Media division of HSI Productions Inc., one of the largest television commercial and music video production companies in the world. At HSI, he helped create some of the first major advertising campaigns to seamlessly integrate television and Internet creative for clients such as Gap and Nike. Equally experienced in traditional media, George was originally a feature film development executive and producer for Academy Award winning filmmaker Oliver Stone and then in partnership with actor-filmmaker Ben Stiller with whom he co-founded Red Hour Films at 20th Century Fox Studios. Some of the projects he helped develop and produce include the Academy Award nominated The People vs. Larry Flynt, Zoolander, and the Emmy and Golden Globe winning HBO film Indictment: The McMartin Trial.
Alex Bloom, CEO, Handango: As CEO, Mr. Bloom is responsible for setting the company strategy and positioning the business to fully take advantage of the huge growth in the smartphone market. Mr. Bloom has been instrumental in expanding Handangos distribution channels and forging content partnerships with top media brands. With more than a decade of experience in the industry, Mr. Bloom has worked in all facets of the wireless landscape including with carriers, content providers and smartphone app stores in various positions in general management, sales and marketing and product management. Mr. Bloom joined Handango, as vice president of content and international where he oversaw content, international websites and the direct to consumer business. Prior to joining Handango, Mr. Bloom served as the general manager of the Motricity smartphone business where he oversaw the direct to consumer website, channel partnerships, technology development and the customer care divisions of the mobile content solutions and wireless services company. Preceding his tenure with Motricity, Mr. Bloom served 11 years at Verizon Wireless, most recently as the director of content and programming. During his time at Verizon Wireless, he managed the content and programming strategies and operations for all consumer mobile content businesses including BREW, Ringtones, Ringback Tones, VCast Video and Mobile Web. Additionally, Mr. Bloom spent six years in various sales and marketing positions as GTE Wireless, including cutting the first Mobile Web (WAP) content deals for the launch of GTEs first Mobile Web offering. Mr. Bloom earned a Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Virginia.
Alex Barkaloff, Executive Producer, Digital Media, LIONSGATE: As Executive Producer for Digital Media at Lionsgate, Alex Barkaloff is responsible for developing high-impact mobile entertainment, applications, games and communities from the companys 12,000 film library and hit TV shows as Weeds, Mad Men, Crash and Fear Itself. Additionally, he oversees original digital productions, especially those that can be cross-developed for filmed entertainment and TV. Prior to Lionsgate, Alex created media-based mobile applications for musical artists, graphic novels and dramatic, horror and comedy projects with such companies as UCP Morgen/qPass, Nellymoser, and mobile operators including T-Mobile, Telefonica, Belgacom, Era Poland and handset makers including Nokia. An entrepreneur and venture capitalist, Alex founded GlobalNet Ventures in San Francisco in 1998 and ArtistOne, an online digital music distributor. His enterprise experience ranges from Oracle to PSION (UK) to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory/NASA.
Noah Hurwitz, Founder and General Manager Gravity Mobile: Noah Hurwitz co-founded Gravity Mobile with Chris Lyon in 2003.Through the last six years, Noah has worked closely with chipset manufactures, carriers, OEMs, and premium brands to bring multimedia applications to mobile phones. Prior to Gravity Mobile, Noah founded and later sold the award winning 3d animation studio, Imagination Plantation. Noah also has a deep passion for music, and produced and mastered records for several years before embarking on this mobile phone adventure.
Samir Ahuja, VP, Engineering & Product Solutions, QuickPlay Media: Samir Ahuja is a seasoned entrepreneur, leader and technologist, and vital member of QuickPlay's executive. As Vice-President of Engineering, Samir drives Research & Development including: Product & Solution Management, Content Operations, Systems Engineering, and the Network Operations Center (NOC). As co-founder, CTO and COO for Optura, a successful software company, Samir gained extensive experience developing and executing mission critical programs. His company was ultimately sold to OpenText, a leader in Content Management. OpenText's management recognized Samir's distinct abilities and experience, and invited him to join their team. As General Manager, Samir and his division provided strategic Enterprise Software solutions to key customers. Samir earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Engineering from the University of Toronto.
Rick Osterloh, Vice President, Emerging Communications, Mobile Devices, Motorola, Inc.: As Vice President of the Emerging Communications group for Motorola, Rick Osterloh manages the team that is responsible for end-to-end product development of a new line of social messaging products and services. His team delivers differentiated smartphone products based on the Android platform as well as rich applications and services that will be used by additional products in the future. His industry experience includes work as Vice President of Product Management and Marketing for Good Technology, a leader in enterprise wireless handheld computing software and services that was acquired by Motorola in 2007, where he was responsible for Goods global product offering, product strategy, marketing execution and overall business planning. As the companys first employee in May 2000, Rick also wrote the business plan for Goods entry into the wireless data market. Prior to Good Technology, Rick managed enterprise software projects for Fortune 1000 companies at Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group, and analyzed wireless industry investments for Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers. Rick earned a bachelors degree from Stanford University, and was an Arjay Miller scholar at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he received a masters degree in business administration.
Steve Bradbury, Vice President, Business Development, GoTV Network: Steve brings over a decade of entertainment convergence experience to his role at GoTV Networks, focusing on the burgeoning made-for-mobile, video-on-demand space. GoTV provides news, sports, music, entertainment, and other essential content customized specifically for cell phone users. Prior to GoTV, Steve was President of Marketing By Design where he was responsible for the interactive division of the Improv Comedy Clubs, Showbiz Scoop for Columbia TriStar Interactive, the eSportsworld executive conference, a $20 million McDonalds/Coca-Cola tie-in for Santa Claus: The Movie and the Openwave/IBM mobile entertainment summit. For the last six years, he has led the Hollywood & Digital program at UCLA Extension. Steves corporate experience includes VP Marketing of MGM Worldwide Television and Director, Creative Services at Universal/MCA TV.
