Don L. Daglow, President and CEO, Stormfront Studios Inc.: has served as president and CEO of Stormfront Studios since founding the company in 1988. In 2003 he received the CGE Award for groundbreaking achievements that shaped the Video Game Industry, and Electronic Games has called him one of the best-known and respected producers in the history of the field. Stormfront's major titles include the upcoming action-adventure The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (based on the film by Peter Jackson), EA Sports NASCAR Racing and Madden NFL Football, and the original Neverwinter Nights on AOL. Prior to founding Stormfront, Don served as director of Intellivision game development for Mattel, as a producer at Electronic Arts, and as head of the Entertainment and Education division at Broderbund. He designed and programmed the first-ever computer baseball game in 1971 (now recorded in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown), the first mainframe computer role-playing game ("Dungeon" for PDP-10 mainframes, 1975), the first sim game (Intellivision Utopia, 1981) and the first game to use multiple camera angles (Intellivision World Series Major League Baseball, 1983). Don co-designed Computer Game Hall of Fame title Earl Weaver Baseball (1987) and the first massively multiplayer online graphic adventure, the original Neverwinter Nights for AOL (1991-97). He was elected to the Board of Directors of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences in 2003 and again in 2007. He also is a past winner of the National Endowment for the Humanities New Voices playwriting competition. Don holds a BA in Writing from Pomona College and an Ed.M. from Claremont Graduate University.
Ian Ali, National Sales Director, Microsoft Gaming and Advertising: Ian Ali, a seasoned executive with twelve years of digital media experience, is National Sales Manager for Massive in the North American market. Ali oversees the domestic advertising sales efforts, which includes field-based and telesales teams chartered with driving revenue for the Microsoft subsidiarys video game advertising network. His team sells an array of in-game advertising solutions across its portfolio of more than 100 premium game titles for the Xbox and PC. Mr. Ali develops the go-to-market strategy for the North American sales team and works closely on the creation of strategic partnerships with global blue-chip advertisers across all vertical categories. By working closely with his partners within Microsoft Advertising, Ian strives to further promote the progress of the Massive in-game advertising medium through education and development of market-based solutions designed to connect the elusive Male 18-34 demographic to top marketers. Ian joined Microsoft Corporation in 1999 as one of the companys first media sales executives. Prior to joining the Massive team in 2006, he successfully worked within the MSN advertising sales organization to lead the closure of the first groundbreaking Xbox advertising sponsorship program. He's a highly vocal evangelist and champion for the in-game advertising medium and has participated in numerous industry panels, workshops, and forums, including Advertising Week, Marketing to Men and iMedia Breakthrough Summit.
Jordan Weisman, CEO and co-founder of Smith & Tinker: Jordan has been the creative and motivating force behind the founding and success of a number of entertainment companies, including: FASA Corporation, Virtual World Entertainment (the worlds first public networked virtual reality entertainment centers) acquired by the Disney Family in 1992, FASA Interactive (PC games, including the MechWarrior franchise) acquired by Microsoft in 1999, WizKids acquired by Topps Inc., in 2003, and 42 Entertainment (alternate reality gaming). Following the FASA acquisition by Microsoft, Jordan served on the XBox team, and was one of the lead creative directors for Halo. Most recently, Jordan founded Smith & Tinker with the mission of reinventing play with products that move seamlessly back and forth from online to offline and immerse the audience in a community of players from around the world.
Jason Cieslak, Managing Director, Siegel+Gale: As Managing Director, Jason is responsible for Siegel+Gales operations on the West Coast. Jason oversees key West Coast based clients which include Activision, Microsoft, Sony PlayStation, and Yahoo! to name a few. Jason has helped Sony PlayStation launch the PlayStation3, The PlayStation Network and a variety of its specific product offerings including Home, Qore and Pulse. Hes worked with Activision on Guitar Hero and he helped Microsoft relaunch Windows in 2008. In his previous role of Executive Director, Interactive Media, Jason oversaw Siegel+Gale's Interactive Media practice. The practice provides Strategy + Concept Development, Information Architecture + Process Simplification, User Experience Design + Development, Content Strategy + Development, and Online Brand Training for a global client base. Key clients he led included Capital Research, The College Board, Experian, Lexus, Jiffy Lube, Nestle, and Qtel. Jason is a frequent speaker and panelist at industry and trade conferences and has been featured at American Marketing Association, The Conference Board, CTI Expo, Internet World, KMWorld, PCIA GlobalXchange and Southern California Software Association. Prior to joining Siegel+Gale, Jason was the marketing director for Lee & Associates, San Diego, where he established a full-service marketing department that developed regional advertising, marketing collateral, standardized proposal systems, and electronic presentations for the company's regional offices. He also led the company's corporate initiative to design and implement a database management system that seamlessly integrated a variety of databases among the company's offices. Jason attended the University of California, Riverside, where he received a BS in Business Administration.
John Rafferty, Creative Director. Denuo: Denuo Creative Director John Rafferty claims rock climbing, snowboarding, biking and attending outdoor concerts among his favorite activities, but his most favorite pastime takes place indoors. A self-described gaming enthusiast, Rafferty claims a gamer score of over 20,000 almost 10 times the average score of a typical gamer. With his savvy gamer know-how and extensive knowledge of technology, design and digital media, Rafferty serves as a creative driver behind Denuo, a division of Publicis Groupe that helps brands understand and interpret the challenges of modern marketplaces. Working closely with the agencys West Coast outpost focused mostly on videogame marketing and content development Rafferty is responsible for the creative ideation and development of all client program assets, in-game integrations, and campaign aesthetics. Working closely with game publishers and developers, he ensures that client brands are represented properly in videogame titles and related collateral, while keeping the gamers perspective top of mind. Outside of the gaming realm, he also handles various video production and creative projects for several clients within Denuos roster, such as Hewlett-Packard. Prior to joining Denuo, Rafferty co-founded Pixel, SMGs interactive digital agency, where he creating award-winning work for Nintendos Wii launch, and earned a Cannes Lion for the Washington Mutual Trapped Banker campaign. Rafferty operates out of Denuos San Francisco headquarters.
Monty Sharma, Vice President Product Management and Marketing, Vivox: With extensive experience in communications, hosted services, broadband, and networking e-business models and markets, Monty Sharma is uniquely qualified to serve as Vivoxs Vice President of Product Management and Marketing. Before joining Vivox, Sharma was vice president of business development at Jamcracker, Inc., where he focused on managing the interactions between large numbers of service providers. Prior to Jamcracker, Sharma served as vice president of Novell Service Provider Network at Novell, Inc. and played a key role in creating an independent business unit and brand that provided software and professional services to carriers, ASPs, and Novells extensive reseller channel. Sharma also held management positions at Nova Scotia telecommunications service provider, MT&T, where he served as chief technology officer of Mpowered PC deploying leading edge DSL and ASP solutions. He began his career working for a variety of consulting organizations including Business Development Information, Inc. and Software Experts.
Rajat Paharia, Founder and Chief Product Officer, Bunchball: Rajat Paharia is the founder and Chief Product Officer of Bunchball. Rajat's skill set combines a unique understanding of technology and design that stems from a four-year career at design firm IDEO, where he was co-director of the Software Experiences Practice. While there he worked with clients including AT&T Wireless, Avaya, Microsoft, McDonald's, HP and Philips. Prior to IDEO, Rajat worked at Philips Consumer Electronics, IBM Research and ViewStar. He has a Masters degree in Computer Science from Stanford University, with a focus on Human Computer Interaction, and an undergraduate degree from the University of California Berkeley.
Mike Vorhaus, President, Magid Advisors: Founded the Magid Internet and New Media research and consultation practice in 1995, with AOL and Excite as his first two clients. Mikes team has completed over 2,500 engagements with over 100 Internet clients. Mike began the Magid Gaming Practice in 2001 with EA and Sony Online as his first two clients. The Magid Game Practice now works with most of the major game publishers. Mike provides research and consulting services to a number of major traditional media companies in regard to their new media initiatives, as well as consulting a number of leading Internet and gaming companies. He has also provided advice to venture capital and private equity firms in regard to investments in the media space. Mike has been involved in strategic and tactical consulting, including the launch of new services and programming, as well as development and implementation of online and offline marketing programs. Mike has also been extensively involved in video and PC gaming strategies for a number of our companies, as well as the development of game concepts. Mike has consulted on a number of film projects such as Youve Got Mail and The Matrix. He holds a B.S. in psychology and sociology from Wesleyan University and has worked as a fundraiser and transfer of technology officer at the California Institute of Technology and the University of California. Mike also worked for the U.S. House of Representatives, The U.S. Senate, and for two Administrations in the White House.
