Internet delivered video has not only entered the advertising space, it has invaded it and in a very short number of years, Internet delivered video will be a dominant entertainment and communications consumer medium. The scary part for traditional media, Internet delivered video may end up on a PC, a mobile device or on a TV and for the advertising and marketing industries, an emerging and maturing delivery system to an ever elusive audience is exactly what they are looking for. Heather Way, Research Analyst, Parks Associates: Heather Way studies digital media advertising services and platforms as well as consumer research focusing on digital entertainment, digital media habits, and consumer purchase processes. Prior to joining Parks Associates, Heather worked in the Dallas-Fort Worth media market for thirteen years, holding positions as Director of Advertising, media planner and buyer, national sales representative, and training coordinator. Most recently, Heather taught as an adjunct professor in the Department of Radio, Television, and Film at the University of North Texas. Heather earned an MS degree in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas, and holds a BS in Mass Communications from East Central University, Ada, Oklahoma.
Andiara Petterle, CEO, BolsadeMulher.com: Andiara is CEO of the largest communication group in Latin America. She has a M.A. and a B.A. in Communication with a focus on women's consumption at Puc-Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was scholar at Brown University and has studied at Harvard Business School in the Women's Leadership Program. Andiara sits on the Board of BrANDS Brazilian Advertising & New Digital Strategies and lectures about digital media, women's consumption and media convergence.
Chris Allen, Vice President/Director of Video Innovation, Starcom USA: In a world where emerging technology is creating more and more opportunities to contact consumers with the sight, sound and motion impact of video, each day creates new challenges for marketers to tackle. In his role at Starcom USA, Chris Allen is at the forefront of developing new models within the video space for investing marketing dollars and reaching consumers in new ways. Fortified by a strong background in national broadcast buying, he continues to make great strides in advancing an exceptionally progressive industry. He is fueled by his relentless passion for learning and his drive to obtain better, smarter and faster information to enhance agency media plans. Allen joined Starcom in 2007 from GSD&M, where he was named VP in 2003. His innovation talents were realized when he oversaw AT&Ts $2 billion rebranding effort after its merger with SBC Communications where he managed all national television and radio buying initiatives. His expert knowledge and experience was called upon a second time when AT&T partnered with Cingular and Bell South, and Allen again oversaw all broadcast buying for the client, proving that he is a top-tier media thinker. Allen also served on the agencys Operations Committee where he was responsible for staffing and managing all operational aspects of the Chicago office. His position enabled him to shape best-practice processes for national television and radio buying. In 1997, Allen moved to GSD&Ms Chicago from its Austin office to strengthen the national broadcast buying group and he started as a national broadcast planner and was later promoted to associate director. His great capacity for learning and mastery of new skills allowed him to manage broadcast buying duties for virtually every GSD&M account, including AT&T, MasterCard, DreamWorks, the U.S. Air Force, Chilis Grill & Bar, Pennzoil, United Healthcare and more. Allen negotiated the best value for his clients and constantly sought new and innovative ways to gain effective and significant exposure. His formidable capacity to adjust to the ever-changing landscape of media buying platforms allowed him to negotiate upfront deals and manage sponsorship contracts on Fox NFL, ESPN Radio, NPRs acclaimed multiplatform Story Corps, and more. Allen began his career at GSD&M in 1995 as a media coordinator demonstrating leadership while working on local print and broadcasting. When he is not negotiating to find an edge for his clients, Allen can be found at his home in Lakeview or jogging by the lakefront. Allen graduated from the University of Texas in 1994 with a B.S. in advertising.
Krish Menon, Chief Technology Officer, The NewsMarket, Inc.: Krish leads and manages technology of The NewsMarket's award-winning platform. Krish has a track record in a broad variety of web-based technologies and has led strategy, research and development efforts at The NewsMarket since inception. Krish has established the entire technology and support team in the US and offshore and has been involved with developing The NewsMarkets technology platform for more than five years, starting first as an outside consultant before joining the team in the 2002. He brings a deep understanding of web-based technologies and experience of delivering cutting-edge business applications and products to the global marketplace. He joined The NewsMarket from Zensar Technologies, the leading software solutions provider in India, where he was a web architect and senior project manager. At Zensar Technologies, Krish designed, managed and led multiple software projects for global customers such as Microsoft and Fujitsu. Krish holds a Bachelor of Engineering with honors in Electronics from Bombay University, India.
Avi Savar, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Big Fuel: began his career in the agent-training program at ICM in Los Angeles, and eventually transitioned to the creative side of entertainment. As an independent producer, Avi created highly stylized programming for companies such as USA Networks, Fox, Columbia Tri-Star, and Showtime. Anticipating the convergence of technology and entertainment in 1998, Avi founded and launched AtBalance Solutions an online media company delivering Health, Fitness and Wellness related content to Fortune 1000 companies. Recruited back to traditional television in 2001, Avi served as the producer for ABCs Good Morning America, before being asked to create and develop breakthrough entertainment programming for both MTV and VH1. Among other credits, he oversaw the production and was instrumental in the success of VH1s hit series The Fabulous Life of . In 2004, Avi launched Big Fuel Communications. Big Fuel has been pioneering the convergence of marketing and entertainment ever since. As a first-to-market innovator, Avis work continues to influence the shape of brand communications. Avi is also the chairman of UJA Federations Young Entertainment, Media and Communication Division. He lives in New York with his wife Leigh and daughter Evie.
Diaz Nesamoney, CEO of Jivox: Diaz Nesamoney is founder and CEO of Jivox. Before founding Jivox, he founded Celequest, raised over $20M in venture capital, and served as its CEO until early 2007, when the company was acquired by Cognos. Celequest introduced the markets first BI appliance, a disruptive innovation that led to its acquisition by Cognos. He was previously co-founder, President and COO at Informatica, which he took from a startup to a publicly traded company in 1999 with a market capitalization of over $1 billion dollars. Informatica pioneered data integration software as a category and is now the market leader with over $400M in revenue. Diaz is a trustee of the American India Foundation, a leading international development organization charged with the mission of accelerating social and economic change in India. He holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India.
David Burch, Director of Marketing, TubeMogul: David leads marketing and public relations for TubeMogul. Prior to joining TubeMogul, David spent the first several years of his career as a Content Manager for Delivery Agent, where he worked on digital strategy for top media companies. David is frequently quoted as an expert in online video, including in The New York Times, Wired and Bloomberg. He received his BA in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley.
Adam Boyden, President, Conduit: Previously, Adam was the Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, and then General Manager of Xfire a provider of communications and tools to more than 11.5 million gamers worldwide that was acquired by MTV Networks for $110 million in 2006. Prior to Xfire, Boyden was the cofounder and former CEO of Autodaq (now OpenLane), the leading online automotive marketing company. Additionally, Boyden was the founder and former General Manager of the China Consultancy, an advisory firm to companies entering the Chinese market. Boyden holds a 1st Class Honors B.Sc. in Engineering Science from Exeter University, and an M.B.A from Stanford University.
