Better technology and platforms will open the door to revenue. Technology has destroyed the information and news business. Technology has saved the economy. There are as many catch phrases to describe today’s focus on monetizing digital content as there are executives in the industry. In this session, we will continue to explore the issues at hand.

es marketing and business development for thePlatform and has more than a decade of diverse experience in product management and marketing. Since joining thePlatform in 2006, Mr. Roberts has helped thePlatform develop and launch a series of new product initiatives, create the industry's largest ecosystem of technology partners for online video, and coordinate numerous external communications programs and events. Hundreds of media companies now use thePlatform to manage and monetize billions of professionally-produced videos views annually, including: the Associated Press, BBC, Cablevision, CBS College Sports, CNBC, Comcast, Corus Entertainment, Cox Communications, ExerciseTV, Gannett/USA Today, HIT Entertainment, PBS, Sony BMG, Starz, Time Warner Cable, and numerous others. Prior to joining thePlatform, Marty was a Director at GiftCertificates.com, and for years he was an early pioneer in the development of online video and digital media services while in product management at RealNetworks.


Bruce Davis, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Digimarc: Bruce Davis has been Chief Executive Officer of Digimarc since 1997 and Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2002. Mr. Davis has spent more than 25 years establishing and managing new businesses to foster development of major new technology markets and drive early adoption of novel digital technologies ranging from video games and computer entertainment, to electronic TV program guides, and, most recently, digital watermarking and secure identity management systems. Through these experiences, he has developed a keen understanding of the possibilities and pitfalls associated with fostering the diffusion of innovative technologies into emerging markets. At the start of his career, he established the intellectual property practice at Orrick Herrington and Sutcliffe, a major international law firm. He later played an important role in the development of the video game industry as Chairman and CEO of Activision, now the largest video game company in the world; and for five years he served as a member of the Software Publishers Association board of directors, which evolved into the Software & Information Industry Association, the principal trade association for the software and digital content industry. From there he founded TV Guide On Screen, a joint venture of TCI, then the leading cable television operator, and News Corporation; where his team developed the leading electronic program guide for cable television. TV Guide On Screen is now a part of Macrovision. A prolific inventor, Mr. Davis has been awarded more than 50 patents on television user interface improvements and other innovations in media management and security. In 2003, Mr. Davis was named Pacific Northwest Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year(r) for the technology category. He has a law degree from Columbia University, and a B.S. in accounting and psychology and an M.A. in criminal justice from the State University of New York at Albany.

Matt Knopf, Vice President, Business Development, PLYmedia: Prior to PL
YMedia, Mr. Knopf helped start up Fantasy Sports Ventures which is currently the 5th largest online sports media property in the U.S. with over 10 million monthly unique visitors. He has also served as an Associate Director of Online Marketing at ESPN and was the Senior Product Marketing Manager at Nextel Communications for smart phone product launches. He has also worked as a senior consultant within the PricewaterhouseCoopers Communications & Media strategy consulting practice. Mr. Knopf is a graduate of Northwestern University and has an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Not only does Matt have experience working in digital media for broadcasters but he has also has the unique experience of having worked as a congressional aide for Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. As such, his perspective can help broadcasters understand the regulatory landscape and how legislative mandates can actually be leveraged for top-line growth. He recently served on a FCC panel with FCC Commissioner Copps on broadband access issues for the disabled.

Marc Price is Openet’s CTO for the Americas, with nearly 20 years of experience working extensively with customers to define strategies and deploy world-class solutions for mediation, rating and billing. He has helped some of the largest U.S. and European service providers to achieve business success, most notably providing strategic assistance deploying complex services across diverse networks including wireline, wireless and cable. Before joining Openet, Marc was the lead software architect for a market-leading convergent real-time rating and billing system for service providers. He has worked in various project management, product development, and senior consulting roles. Marc holds honors degrees in mechanical engineering and international relations from the University of Pennsylvania

Mike Glickenhaus, CEO, Vmix: Mike has been with VMIX since the beginning of 2008. As President and CEO, he brings 28 years of experience in online media and broadcasting. Since joining VMIX, Mike has led the aggressive expansion and growth strategy for the company accelerating both the product roadmap as well as the business development expansion, opening new offices in NY and Atlanta. Under Mike's guidance, VMIX has also expanded its premium content offering, and content syndication efforts, as well as integrated live streaming and mobile features within the platform. Mike has also facilitated key partner relationships, and launched VMIX's first Channel Program for resellers. Prior to joining VMIX, Mike founded Finest City Broadcasting to acquire three San Diego radio stations from Clear Channel Communications. As President and CEO he raised $110 million in equity and debt to close the transaction. He has also done extensive consulting work with broadcast companies, as well as research and analysis for both private equity companies and private investors in the media sector. Before founding Finest City Broadcasting, Mike spent ten years as Vice President Market Manager for Clear Channel and Jacor Communications in San Diego. As sole General Manager in the market, he oversaw the daily running of twelve Clear Channel stations, generating over $110 million in annual revenues, with a market revenue share of sixty five percent. Mike began his broadcast career with Noble Broadcast Group, which operating twenty stations across the United States. He is a past President, Vice President and Treasurer of the San Diego Radio Broadcasters Association. He has also been a member of the National Association of Broadcasters and worked on the NAB Show Steering Committee. Mike is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany. He has served on the executive boards of the National MS Society, the San Diego International Sports Council and the San Diego Advertising Fund for Emergencies (SAFE).

David E. Leibowitz, Managing Partner, CH POTOMAC, a strategic services firm working with companies at the intersection of entertainment, media and technology. Mr. Leibowitz brings almost thirty years of experience in business, law and policy issues facing the entertainment, new media, consumer electronics and information technology industries. Among other activities, Mr. Leibowitz serves as a senior advisor to Gotuit Media, Motorola, National Datacast, Gibson Guitar, Peppercoin, myMPO, and Demand ID Systems. Mr. Leibowitz also has worked with other clients, including BMI, 13 Colonies Software (since purchased by a large enterprise software company), CD Intelligence, and Neurok Optics. Earlier in his career, Mr. Leibowitz Co-Founded VERANCE and served as it Chairman. VERANCE offers innovative technology solutions to protect, manage, and monitor audio and audiovisual content, including broadcast monitoring and verification, copy protection and content management. Before that, Mr. Leibowitz was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), responsible for business and legal issues facing the industry with particular emphasis on how to position the industry to utilize new physical and electronic format systems. During this period, Mr. Leibowitz chaired the worldwide recording industry’s International Steering Committee on DVD Audio, the RIAA New Technology and Multimedia Committee and the RIAA Legal Committee. Prior to his work at the RIAA, Mr. Leibowitz was a partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm Wiley Rein & Fielding representing a number of Fortune 100 media and entertainment companies. Mr. Leibowitz also has served as Policy Planning Advisor to the Register of Copyrights for the U.S. Copyright Office.
