Mitch Berman, Co-Founder & Executive Chairman, ZillionTV: Mitchell Bermans 25 years of executive management and entrepreneurial leadership in multimedia entertainment and technology includes a combination of powerhouse television brands and rising television technology start-ups. Under his global leadership, Mitch has spearheaded the launch of consumer entertainment services spanning cable, DBS, IPTV, Broadband, P2P, VoIP, wireless, interactive television, video-on-demand (VOD) and digital advertising insertion. Prior to joining ZillionTV, Mitch was corporate vice president of global marketing for C-COR (acquired by ARRIS in December 2007; NASDAQ: ARRS), where he led the companys successful repositioning and marketing strategy for its video-on-demand, digital advertising insertion, optical transport and operations support software products. Prior to C-COR, Mitch served as senior vice president of worldwide marketing and operations for interactive television middleware start-up OpenTV, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPTV), and helped the company navigate a highly successful IPO in 1999. His efforts have led to software deployments in more than 100 million digital set-top boxes in 96 countries to date, including BSKYB and DISH Network. Mitch also served as senior vice president of strategic business development at start-up Galaxy Media/East Coast Pay TV Ltd. (FOXTEL), Australias first and largest multi-channel pay TV network operator. In this position, Mitch launched: XYZ Entertainment, a television production company of four, 24-hour entertainment TV channels; and, sister company Satellite Music Australia, a digital satellite music service for businesses. Mitch also served as marketing director for the start-up of Sky Network Television New Zealand, New Zealands first and largest multi-channel pay TV network operator. Mitch honed his start-up skills as vice president of affiliate sales for then start-up E! Entertainment Television, and as regional manager of affiliate operations at Home Box Office, Inc. (HBO/Cinemax), where he was awarded the companys highest distinction for Marketing Excellence. In all of these positions, Mitch successfully blended strategy with innovation to achieve increased market penetration that led to millions of new subscribers and multi-million dollar annual revenues. Known for his warm and engaging style, Mitch is a respected and frequently requested speaker/moderator at global industry events such as Digital Hollywood, iTVTs TV Of Tomorrow Show, NAB, IBC and CTAM Europe. Mitch holds a masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California at Los Angeles. Mitchs current television favorites include HBOs John Adams mini-series and Entourage.
Mark McKinnon, Co-Chair, Arts+Labs: For two decades Mark McKinnon has been helping solve complex strategic challenges for causes, companies and candidates, including President George W. Bush, Senator John McCain, Governor Ann Richards, Congressman Charlie Wilson, Lance Armstrong and Bono. According to Broadcasting and Cable magazine, McKinnon is one of a handful of players behind every big decision, consensus or roadblock in Washington putting a unique, sometimes hidden stamp on the outcome of todays debates. McKinnon is an award-winning media producer and communications strategist who has served as principal media advisor for hundreds of corporate and political campaigns around the world. He has been awarded more than 30 Pollie and Telly awards, honoring the nations best political and public affairs advertising. President Bush says of McKinnon, I was really impressed by Marks creativity, and I was particularly impressed by his honesty." Senator McCain, in his typical straight talk fashion, says, "Hes almost a genius." And President Obama calls McKinnon a class act. McKinnon currently serves on the board of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and lectures at the JFK School at Harvard University and the LBJ School at UT Austin. McKinnon attended UT Austin and served as editor of the award-winning university newspaper, The Daily Texan. He spent several years in Nashville working as a song-writer with Kris Kristofferson. And was wildly unsuccessful. McKinnon also is a two-time Ironman finisher.
Alex Limberis, Chief Operating Officer, Syabas Technology: As chief operating officer for Syabas Technology, Alex Limberis manages the company's marketing, product planning and business development from its headquarters in Fremont, California. Mr. Limberis is a 20+ year veteran in software, data communications and media technologies. Prior to joining Syabas he was the director of wireless, broadband and consumer electronics in Microsoft's Digital Media Division where he drove Microsoft's success in the ubiquitous adoption of Windows Media into the consumer electronics, wireless and broadband ecosystems. In this capacity Mr. Limberis gained extensive experience in the areas of mobile wireless, IPTV, MP3 players and music and video services such as Verizon, Tivo, Amazon and Netflix. He drove Microsoft to join the DVD Forum and then served on the DVD Forum steering committee which resulted in the adoption of Windows Media into the HD-DVD and Blu-ray standards. Mr. Limberis also served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Dolby Labs where he defined Dolby's strategy to enter the networked entertainment ecosystems. Previously he was a vice president at PMI (acquired by Microsoft), VP of strategic marketing at Aureal Semiconductor (acquired by Creative Labs), VP and GM at Korg (Yamaha), and a founder of Ensoniq (acquired by Creative Labs). Mr. Limberis holds several patents in the DSP and media fields. He was a B.S. in electrical engineering major at Drexel University and holds an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University.
Bryan Biniak, Founder & CEO of Jacked, Inc.: Bryan Biniak is the founder and CEO of Jacked, Inc. the leading producer of interactive broadcasts. Jackeds SportsTop fuses live telecasts with the interactivity of the Web, publishing relevant content synchronized with the sportscasts. Jacked serves as the interactive sportscast platform for a nuber of media companies including Yahoo, CBS Television, Versus, Big Ten Network, and Raycom Sports among others. Biniak is also the founder and managing director of Provenance Ventures. Most recently, Biniak served as senior vice president and general manager of AG Interactive at American Greetings Corporation (NYSE), launching Unvision Movil, Def Jam Mobile, SI Mobile, and Blue Mountain Mobile, as well as Microsoft's MSN Messenger and Messenger Live content storefronts. Prior to AG, Bryan served as COO and EVP of sales and marketing for Vivendi Universal's wireless subsidiary Moviso. Bryan served as COO of YourMobile which was sold to Vivendi Universal. He was founder and CEO of China-based Musiczone.He also was vice president and founding member of Harmonix Music Systems, developer of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
Rick Song, Senior Director, Eastern US Sales, Microsoft Advertising: Rick Song is the senior sales director for the Eastern U.S. at Microsoft Advertising and has served in the role since joining the company in January 2006. He leads all of the regions advertising sales efforts and his team is responsible for generating revenue across all Microsoft ad platforms, including Display, Search, Branded Entertainment, Video, Gaming and Mobile as well as the Microsoft Media Network, which comprises Microsofts owned and operated properties including MSN, Windows Live, Office Live and XBOX Live; Microsofts partner sites, including Facebook, Viacom, CNBC, Dow Jones; and access to the top 500 premium third party publisher sites across the Web. Rick presides over the regional sales and service organization consisting of over 200 people and oversees offices in New York and Boston. Under Ricks leadership, Microsoft Advertising has achieved several milestones, including the launch of breakthrough original programs like Volvos Driving School, Doritos Unlock XBox and Sprint / Unilevers In the Motherhood, which is now in on-air development with ABC Television. He also spearheaded the creation of Microsofts first-ever, original programming upfront Microsoft Digital Showcase in April 2008, which is now in its second year. Rick is a 17-year veteran of media sales and management with experience in consumer brand advertising and sponsorship, B2B marketing, e-commerce and performance marketing. Prior to joining Microsoft, he spent over four years at Yahoo, last serving as director of strategic accounts. Before assuming his position at Yahoo, he served as the East Coast sales director at Forbes.com. Rick began his media career in print working for Ziff-Davis Publishing, which led to his first online job as a regional manager with ZDNet, and hes since spent the last 12 years in the digital advertising industry.__Rick is active in the advertising community and serves on the Board of Directors for the 212 NY Interactive Advertising Club and is a member of The ADVERTISING Club of New Yorks Digital Action and Digital Marketing & Media committees. He recently joined the IABs Sales Executive Council and is also an Advisor for the Martini Media Network. Rick also serves as a Board Trustee for Pan Asian Repertory, a non-profit theatre company in NYC. Rick is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing. He is based in New York City and resides in Long Island with his wife and three daughters.
John Zelenka is Vice President, Business Development, for Tribune Media Services (TMS). He leads TMS business development efforts, identifying and pursuing strategies to grow revenue and profit across the company. His duties include industry analysis, business planning, strategic planning, product development, alliances, and M&A activities. TMS aggregates and manages large entertainment databases to create industry-leading information products and services for more than 4,000 international customers. TMS TV listings and channel lineups, movie showtimes, celebrity information and related metadata power entertainment services from many of the best-known media and technology companies in the world, including Cablevision, Comcast, Dish Network, Google, Microsoft, Time Warner, TiVo and Yahoo. Through these customers services and its own B2C entertainment site, Zap2it.com, TMS content is seen daily in nearly every U.S. household, as well as in 38 other countries. Zelenka has been with TMS since 2003, serving in key business development, strategy and general management roles. He has held senior roles in media business development and healthcare marketing with the Orbis Broadcast Group and Interpublics Weber Shandwick Worldwide. He previously worked in journalism as a producer with ABC News national news service. Zelenka holds a bachelors degree from Ohio University, a masters degree in journalism from Northwestern Universitys Medill School of Journalism, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business.
Ben Mendelson, co-founder and president, Interactive Television Alliance: Ben Mendelson is the co-founder and president of the Interactive Television Alliance, the primary trade association representing the broad interests of the ITV industry. Ben has been an innovator in sponsor-based programming and has been involved in New Media technology from its earliest days. He was the founding executive of various early on-line companies (Interactive Center, Internet Imaging, Internet Outfitters), head of the Internet division of a magazine publishing company (Curtco Freedom), VP of Internet Development for the Electronic Retailing Assoc. (ERA), and SVP of Business Strategies at an investment bank (Winterberry Group). __Before his involvement with Interactive technologies, Ben was primarily involved in the art world. From 1981 1991, he owned and operated LA Art Photographers Assoc. (LAPA), an art gallery and resource center for fine art photography. In 1992, he founded PhotoSource a gallery and resource center for high quality digital imaging. His interest in facilitating the creative process has been a guiding influence, whether from the art community or from the business community. __In 2002, Ben co-founded 2degree Partners with his business partner, Allison Dollar. 2DP manages the ITV Alliance and provides business strategies that include Direct Response TV, ITV, and cross-media marketing. Ben has taught at the American Film Institute (AFI), UCLA Extension, and the So. CA Institute of Architecture (SCIArch) and has been published in numerous magazines and trade journals. He is on the advisory board of the AFI Enhanced TV Program, the exec. committee of the IMPG at the Television Academy, and is a familiar speaker at many Technology, Marketing and Media conferences.
