iPhone Apps Change Agents App Breakthroughs, Video, Games, Mobile Engagement and Advertising The iPhone has set the bar for Smartphones and with over 75,000 iPhone Apps now available, it represents the most vibrant platform of games, mini information and communication gadgets ever imagined. The iPhone Apps phenomenon is the learning tool from which all consumer electronics developers and manufacturers will learn and gravitate. The world of iPhone Apps is not only a money machine for Apple and its user community, it is a petri dish for understanding the needs, likes and personality of the modern consumer. Sean Bunner, Operating Vice President, Advanced Services, HSN Home Shopping Network: In this role he is responsible for the business development, operations and marketing of HSNs Interactive Media applications including: Shop by Remote (iTV), Video on Demand, Broadband and Mobile services. Bunner actively supports key industry initiatives including the CableLabs eTV Working Group, CTAM onDemand Consortium - Advanced Technology Sub-committee, and Academy of Television Arts & Sciences 2007 Interactive Television Emmy Blue Ribbon Panel. Before joining HSN, Mr. Bunner worked in investment banking for 5 years at Tunstall Consulting where he was the lead Director for technology company financings and strategic plans, including many telecommunications related deals, such as SMATV operators and cable related technology providers. Prior to this, he worked at Honeywell for 7 years in various Corporate Finance roles. Bunner is a CPA and graduate of the University of South Florida where he received a Masters in Business Administration and B.S. Accounting. He resides in Flordia with his wife Ellen and their three children.
Walker Fenton, GM, Media & Consumer division, NewsGator: At NewsGator, Walker is responsible for the companys iPhone media application framework TapLynx as well as their Widget Framework, which is used by more than 150 media clients, including USA Today, Reuters, Discovery and CBS News. In addition, he manages NewsGators Related Content services and its AdBurner Program. The Related Content services helps drive page views and increases user engagement on publisher sites while the AdBurner program helps monetize content where it lives. Fenton began his career in the Internet working for Netcom Online Communications, the first nationwide dial-up Internet Service Provider, and has since been involved with several start-ups including dbDoctor, Inc. and Xaffire, Inc. He received a bachelors degree in economics from Colby College and has an MBA from Regis University.
Greg Hallinan, Chief Marketing Officer, Verve Wireless: Greg is a marketing executive with more than 10 years of experience in business and consumer based marketing including brand management, product marketing, and communications strategy. Greg started his career at Intel in strategic marketing working on the Pentium® III and Xeon® product launches. He then went on to product management positions at Swell.com and more recently lead the marketing efforts at the leading out-of-home interactive entertainment company- NTN Buzztime. Greg earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado-Boulder and went on to earn his MBA with honors from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame.
Steve Polsky, President and COO of Flixster Inc., an online movie and entertainment community. Flixster was launched the end of December 2005 and, in a little over two years, has grown to a top ten online movies and entertainment destination. Flixster is a leading application across Facebook, MySpace and Bebo with over 15 million monthly unique visitors actively rating, reviewing, recommending and socializing around films. Prior to Flixster, Steve's career has centered around founding, launching and managing early stage technology ventures. Steve was Founder and EVP of VoicePlex Corporation an early innovator in providing systems and services to wireless carriers in the US and overseas which was acquired in 1994 by Intervoice. Steve was also an initial team member and head of business development for Amber Networks an Internet infrastructure company acquired by Nokia in 2001. Finally, Steve was SVP of Business and Corporate Development for Edusoft, a leading provider of solutions for public schools through out the US acquired by Houghton Mifflin in 2003. Steve is a lecturer for the Wharton School of Business's Undergraduate Course in Entrepreneurship, serves on the boards of kTC Corporation and the University of Pennsylvania's Management and Technology Program. He is also actively involved in local charitable board work in San Francisco. Steve also holds five patents in the telecommunications network architecture.
Nicholas Montes, President, Viva Vision: Nicholas Montes brings over 13 years of wireless experience to Viva Vision, a leading provider of mobile entertainment, where he is responsible for the companys over-all leadership, market strategy and long-term vision. Under his leadership, Viva Vision has demonstrated unprecedented growth in revenue, subscribers and distribution. (Viva Vision experienced a 350% revenue growth in 2007 and a 130% spike in subscribers in 2007. Viva Visions patented mobile entertainment products include slide shows, video on demand, and live video applications. Viva Vision content is distributed on 23 direct carriers worldwide.) Prior to Viva Vision, Montes held the role of Vice President, Mobile Sales and Marketing for American Greetings Interactive, where he was responsible for all global sales, marketing and strategic planning for the companys wireless division. He directly managed carrier distribution channels, business development, content creation, licensing and leading brand partners such as Univision Communications, Def Jam Enterprises, and Sports Illustrated/Time Inc. Under his leadership, AG Interactive showed exponential growth with annual sales exceeding 12M in revenue. Previous to AG Interactive, Montes spent over 10 years at Verizon Wireless where he held several senior level marketing positions. As the Director of Multicultural Marketing at Verizon Wireless, he was responsible for driving subscription acquisition growth in voice and data services for customer segments including Hispanics, African Americans, and Asian Americans. Under his leadership, Montes managed over 50 Million in advertising budgets and developed multi-million dollar marketing campaigns designed to drive new acquisitions. During his tenure at Verizon Wireless, Montes pioneered the use of wireless integrated marketing campaigns leveraging major media properties like World Cup, Copa America and Grammy award-winning Alejandro Sanz. Montes is a current Board Member of Viva Vision Inc. and is an active member of the CTIA WIC Leadership Team.
Guy Vidra is head of business development and emerging media at Washington Post Digital, where he is responsible for development across new technology platforms and overseeing strategic partnerships that support editorial and business initiatives across the company. Previous to Washington Post Digital, Guy served as President of 2ergo Americas Inc., directing overall operations for the Americas division (North and Latin) of 2ergo PLC, a publicly traded (LSE: RGO) $80 Million revenue global leader in mobile marketing products and services. Guy oversaw the turnaround of the company within a 12-month period and cemented long-term partnerships for 2ergo by closing cornerstone deals, including AT&T, P&G, and a pan-regional Latin American partnership with Jamba. Before 2ergo, Guy was Senior Vice President of Business Development at Oddcast Inc., a leading Rich Media technology developer. At Oddcast, Guy worked closely with a broad range of companies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, DDB Worldwide, Ogilvy & Mather, Grey Worldwide, Y&R, Viacom, Sony, AOLTW, Vivendi-Universal, Cablevision, Pepsi, Chrysler, Oracle, Toyota and Microsoft. Guy received his MA from The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy and his BA from The University of Michigan and is originally from New York City. Guy lives in McLean, VA with his wife Sue and two boys, Alexander and Zachary.
Jody Stark is a serial entrepreneur that has co-founded and led several successful startups including, ViziWorks, MoBad Games, Transpera, Mixed Signals, iSports and YooMedia. Currently Mr. Stark is President and CEO of IniTech Consulting. This strategic consulting practice is focused on business development, content and distribution strategy, acquisition and programming across online, TV and mobile. Jody responsibilities include developing Initechs client base and then leading the execution teams to deliver on client goals. Over the last several years Jodys keen insight, dedication and creative strategies have helped put many startups on the map. Known to create personal and professional growth in those around him, his business ethic and commitment to people has turned Initech into one of the most sought after consulting firms in todays challenging economic environment. Over the last few years Initech's client list has grown to include Disney, Viacom, News Corp, NBC, DirecTV, Comcast, Cox, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, BT, Turner/AOL and Google just to name a few. Jody has a passion for music, media, technology and social issues and has combined these interests in a number of ways during his career. Mr. Stark completed his studies at KU before relocating to California to begin his career. He and his family live in the south bay of Los Angeles and are active members of their community and strong proponents of Californias active and vibrant lifestyle.
