Better technology and platforms will open the door to revenue. Technology has destroyed the information and news business. Technology has saved the economy. R. Michael Leo, CEO and President, Operative: "Mike" Leo joined Operative in 2003 as CEO and President. Mike was cofounder of aQuantive (NASDAQ: AQNT), a digital marketing organization now owned by Microsoft that became one of the industry's biggest success stories. Mike assembled the team that helped to grow aQuantive to one of the best and largest interactive agencies in the world. In his role as CEO and President of Operative, Mike has utilized his unmistakable entrepreneurial drive and vision along with business acumen to spearhead corporate growth. With Mike at the helm, Operative has experienced doubled-revenue growth for the past two consecutive years and has recruited some of advertising's most recognizable talent. Silicon Alley Insider ranked Mike the 85th most influential New Yorker in digital media in 2007 and the 71st most influential in 2008.

John Dokes is the vice president of sales and marketing for Marvel Entertainments digital media group. John has nearly 20 years of marketing experience with some of the worlds top brands, including his work at Viaocom - MTV Networks and special projects for Unilever and Volkswagen. As Marvel CEO Dan Buckley once stated, “John is that rare individual who has a strong passion for both the product and the bottom line.” He has been a key component to Marvels reinvigorated digital initiatives. His signature project Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited, a subscription service for over 6000 Marvel Comics, has been recognized as a game changer for the industry.




Sean Nolan, Vice President, Online Operations and External Online Marketing, Rodale Inc.: In this role, he oversees the company’s online advertising and traffic operations, analytics, SEO and SEM, as well as affiliates and other external opportunities. Nolan has handled a number of different editorial, product development, and operations roles in his time at Rodale, including Director of MensHealth.com, which quadrupled its unique audience and tripled traffic and revenue on his watch and Director of New Product Development. He was also a part of the Women’s Health launch team in 2004-2005. Nolan has more than 20 years of experience in online and print consumer publishing, ranging from daily newspapers to dot-com startups. He is a graduate of Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism.

Marcien Jenckes, President, Media and Content, Grab Networks, which was formed in October 2008 after the merger of Anystream and Voxant. Jenckes sets the strategic direction for Grab’s video syndication solutions business and oversees its daily operations. Previously, he served as CEO of Voxant. Prior to joining Voxant, Marcien was SVP of Messaging, Community, and Voice at AOL, overseeing AOL’s community products, including the AIM® and ICQ® branded services, which are at the center of one of the largest and most dynamic online and mobile communities worldwide. Prior to this role, Marcien was responsible for launching AOL’s free web services by overseeing the design, development and programming of the AOL network, including the launch of the free AOL.com portal, AOL’s Welcome Screen, My AOL, AOL’s Video Hub and other web properties that attract more than 100 million monthly visitors. At AOL, Marcien also led the Strategy & Operations team for all of AOL Programming properties. In this capacity, he managed the business planning process, which played a core role in the decision to launch a full free web offering. He also led the Web Development, Video Production, Photo Editing, and Project Management functions. Before AOL, Marcien worked at McKinsey & Company in Washington, DC and was a member of their Media and Technology practice. During his time at McKinsey, he managed engagements focused on new businesses and technologies, including the creation of an international mobile portal, consumer facing financial services platforms, and new web technologies. Marcien holds an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia, and a BA in Economics and Political Science from New York University.

Alex Baxter, General Manager of Digital Media, PARADE: Alex Baxter is General Manager of PARADE Digital. Baxter leads Parade’s interactive initiatives for consumers, newspaper partners and advertisers. Since coming aboard, web traffic has increased significantly, editorial enhanced with focused daily contributions, and the number of partner syndicates grown with attractive new content products. Baxter has held a variety of positions in and managed resources for editorial, sales, marketing, business development, product development, operations, strategic alliances and advertising. Prior to joining PARADE, he was the Executive Director of Digital Media at Wenner Media (Rolling Stone, Us Weekly and Men’s Journal), where he spearheaded Internet, mobile, video and other interactive initiatives. Baxter has also served as Vice President of Sales at Silicon Valley startup 4INFO, Director of Internet Sales & Marketing at Dow Jones & Co. / The Wall Street Journal, and as Managing Partner for Transition Assistance Online. Baxter holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, a BS and BA from Southern Wesleyan University, and lives in New York City with his wife, Amanda, and daughter, Sophie.

Marty Roberts, VP Marketing, thePlatform: Marty Roberts oversees marketing and business development for thePlatform and has more than a decade of diverse experience in product management and marketing. Since joining thePlatform in 2006, Mr. Roberts has helped thePlatform develop and launch a series of new product initiatives, create the industry's largest ecosystem of technology partners for online video, and coordinate numerous external communications programs and events. Hundreds of media companies now use thePlatform to manage and monetize billions of professionally-produced videos views annually, including: the Associated Press, BBC, Cablevision, CBS College Sports, CNBC, Comcast, Corus Entertainment, Cox Communications, ExerciseTV, Gannett/USA Today, HIT Entertainment, PBS, Sony BMG, Starz, Time Warner Cable, and numerous others. Prior to joining thePlatform, Marty was a Director at GiftCertificates.com, and for years he was an early pioneer in the development of online video and digital media services while in product management at RealNetworks.

Venkat Eswara, Director of Marketing Applications and Mobile Video, Motorola: In his present position, Venkat is responsible for developing and driving the marketing plan and deliverables for Motorola’s Mobile Video Solution offerings and the Applications Practice. He is also in charge of developing and driving marketing strategies in joint ventures. Venkat has been in the telecommunications industry for more than 13 years and has worked in the areas of marketing, strategy, portfolio management and product development. Prior to Motorola, Venkat had more than five years of experience in consulting for the electrical industry. Venkat has achieved a Master degree in Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, United States and a Master degree in Management from North

Jonathan Hurd, Director, Altman Vilandrie & Company: Jonathan Hurd joined Altman Vilandrie & Company in 2006. He has more than 20 years of consulting and industry experience in communications, media and related technology sectors. Jonathan’s primary areas of expertise include business and marketing strategy, new business creation and launch, integrated consumer and business services, and customer and sales channel segmentation and targeting. Jonathan’s experience in the IPTV realm includes customer targeting, partner evaluation, demand modeling, and business case development. With unique insight into competitive trends and consumer perceptions about content and communications services, Jonathan works with clients to develop differentiated video strategies. Jonathan’s extensive marketing background enables him to recommend product and marketing strategies that resonate with target audiences as IP-delivered video moves towards broad adoption. Prior to joining Altman Vilandrie & Company, Jonathan was a Vice President with ADVENTIS. Before that, he was a Partner in the Communication, Information and Entertainment practice of Mercer Management Consulting. Jonathan has also served as Vice President of Marketing for a computer peripherals manufacturer, and has held marketing and strategic planning positions at Lotus Development Corporation. In addition, he has served as a software development product manager in industries including financial services, computer peripherals, video game development and management consulting. Jonathan earned a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from M.I.T., and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
