Art Chang, founder and CEO, Tipping Point: Art Chang founded Tipping Point Partners in 2005 to leverage the experience of entrepreneurs and investors from both coasts for the benefit of our portfolio and the New York City technology community. Prior to Tipping Point, Mr. Chang worked in investment banking and venture capital and has had numerous founding and management roles in traditional and Internet start-ups in diverse fields including manufactured housing, legal technology, film finance and distribution, Chinese e-commerce, and music social networks. Tipping Point Partners current portfolio includes Cookstr (consumer food media), Casebook (enterprise human services), I Do Now I Don't (consumer auction), Mobile Commons (enterprise mobile services), and Playspan (multiplayer games). Art also has extensive government experience and has spent over 10 years on non-profit boards. Art currently serves on the Board of the New York City Campaign Finance Board as an appointee of Mayor Bloomberg and is an Expert Advisor to the Catherine B. Reynolds Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurship at New York University. Art began his career in architecture and worked for the celebrated architect I.M. Pei.
James Segil, co-founder & President, EdgeCast Networks: James is a proven web entrepreneur, having led and sold two successful startups. Prior to co-founding EdgeCast, James was vice president of business development for Talisma Corporation, an enterprise software vendor focusing on CRM software. James joined Talisma as a result of the acquisition of his company, KnowledgeBase, where he was president & COO. At KnowledgeBase, he worked with co-founders Alex, Phil and Lior, and was involved in all aspects of the company and responsible for its growth and development. With more than six years of leadership experience in the technology sector, James has started and grown businesses, built out scalable product and technology solutions, and created and managed high performance management teams. Prior to KnowledgeBase, James successfully led Web-hosting company Virtualis Systems through start-up, growth, acquisition, and a merger/integration. He was then COO of the web hosting division of Allegiance Telecom (Nasdaq: ALGX), the communications concern that acquired Virtualis in Fall 2000. While at Allegiance, James managed the integration of Virtualis as well as other ISP acquisitions into one centralized hosting network eventually re-branded as Hosting.com. James has a deep consumer marketing background having spent his early career (seven years) in brand management at Mattel before being sent by Mattel to business school full time as their first ever sponsored MBA. Prior to leaving Mattel, James was brand manager for Hot Wheels and responsible for more than $150 million in sales. James received his MBA from Harvard Business School and received his operations, marketing, finance and leadership skills from his front line positions growing brands and businesses. James lives in Los Angeles. EdgeCast has built a world-class network that provides content delivery services for traditional media companies, television and movie studios, advertising networks, web video and content providers, game and software delivery, social media, and more. Eric Gould Bear, Inventor of Telescopic Video & CEO, MONKEYmedia, Inc.: Communication Arts described Eric Gould Bear as "one of the most thoughtful and provocative interface and interaction designers working in the field. Jay Batson Co-founder, Acquia: Acquia is the second technology company Jay has (co-) founded, and is also his second commercial open-source effort (the previous having been Pingtel, which was acquired by Bluesocket in 2007.)
