The television experience has now officially graduated from its status as entertainment king of the living room, to the central component of the entire electronic consumer experience. Television 2.0 has now arrived and it includes cable – with all of its integrated services of PVR, DRV, VOD, Broadband, Wireless, VoIP and Mobile as a communications as well as scalable video provider of clips and updates to movies and full programming. The competition for the future of Television 2.0 has just begun. There will be no immediate winner, and there will probably never be a winner take all. With 250 million consumers in this country to service and a global market to reach out to, the media, entertainment and technology companies are not competing in a zero sum marketing arena. In this session, we will address these issues and more.

Ryan O’Hara,, President, TV Guide Network and TV Guide Broadband: Ryan O’Hara is President of TV Guide Network, an entertainment network with original and acquired TV programming distributed in more than 84 million homes with 2006 revenues of $129 million. O’Hara is charged with managing TV Guide Network’s strategy and growth and overseeing all aspects of the business, including programming, marketing, publicity, advertising sales, operations, business affairs and finance. O’Hara is also President of TV Guide Broadband, an advertising supported video programming service which is currently marketed and distributed on You Tube, Veoh, Comcast The Fan, AOL Video and Yahoo. Previously, O’Hara served as President of TVG, Gemstar-TV Guide’s horseracing television network and web business. During his tenure, he was responsible for the overall business operations and the P & L. During that time, revenues grew from $39 million to $52 million and distribution grew 26%. He also managed TVG’s rights activities with track and on-line partners and coordinated with the company’s affiliate sales group to secure long-term carriage deals. O’Hara has also served as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Planning for Gemstar-TV Guide. In that role, he was responsible for corporate strategy and deal making across numerous media segments including publishing, cable and satellite, and consumer electronics. Prior to joining Gemstar-TV Guide, O’Hara was Director of Interactive TV Strategy for BSkyB, based in London. While at the Sky UK satellite platform, he focused on creating interactive content that differentiated the platform from cable and Internet competitors. Before BSkyB, he worked for Fox Cable Networks and Fox/Liberty Networks. As Director of Business Development, he helped launch the Regional Sports Report on 17 Fox Sports Nets. He also worked on rights acquisitions with NASCAR, ACC Basketball, Major League Baseball and regional sports buys that aired on FSN, FX, Speedvision and Fox Sports. Prior to joining News Corp/Fox, O’Hara worked as an entertainment management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and in brand management at Nestle USA. Mr. O’Hara serves on the Board of Directors of the Hollywood & Radio Television Society and is a member of the Paley Center of Media. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Young Presidents Organization. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Stanford University and a Masters of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.

Betty Cohen, former, President, CEO of Lifetime Entertainment: Betty consults for both traditional and digital media companies. She brings to both the traditional and digital media arenas her keen sensibility – at once pioneering and practical – for creating value by identifying and matching up creative talent with target audiences, distribution mechanisms and lucrative sponsorship opportunities. Companies that are building brands at the intersection of content, community and commerce benefit from Cohen’s innovation track record, strategic sense, leading edge creative relationships and senior media industry contacts. She is best known for leading the Cartoon Network as its President from its US start-up in October, 1992 to becoming a global phenomenon with asset value of nearly $3 billion by June 2001. Most recently, she served as President, CEO of Lifetime Entertainment Services, the leader in women’s television. Prior to Cartoon Network, Cohen was GM of TNT (Turner Network Television). As a media CEO, with her distinctive mix of creative, strategic and operational strengths, Cohen has enabled companies to improve viewership and advertising success metrics. Through her consulting and board positions, Cohen helps digital media companies identify the “missing piece” that would take them to the next level, and then connects them to the right people and resources. Cohen’s experience, skill set and industry relationships support any effort to “build a following” across platforms and user bases, and to integrate new technology as it revolutionizes creation, distribution, popularization and viewer behavior. In December, 2007, Cohen was inducted into “She Made It” hall of fame at the Paley Center for Media (formerly Museum of Television and Radio). In October 2006, Cohen was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame, and in December 2006 she received the prestigious “Muse Award” from NY Women in Film and TV. In June 2001, Cohen received the "PROMAX/BDA Pinnacle Award." In 2000, Cohen was named one of "The 50 Most Powerful Women in Business" by Fortune magazine. In June 1999, she was cited by Advertising Age as one of the country’s “Top 100 Marketers. Advertising Age also named Cartoon Network "Cable Marketer of the Year" for 1998. Cohen earned a BA in communications from Stanford University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

Martin Sacchi, Senior Director, Windows Media Center, Microsoft: Martin Sacchi oversees the product planning and business development functions for Windows Media Center, part of Microsoft’s Connected TV initiative. He manages the team responsible for the business development relationships with network operators, content owners and service providers for Windows Media Center. Martin has led the negotiation with the US cable industry that resulted in the approval of Microsoft's technologies to received high definition premium pay TV in Windows Media Center PCs and connected devices. Before joining Microsoft in 2002, Martin held multiple positions in business development and international M&A as a Vice-President at Enron Corporation. Prior to his work with Enron Corporation, Martin spent 6 years working for YPF S.A., the largest energy company in Argentina. He holds a JD from the University of Buenos Aires and an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School.

Michael Quigley, Executive Director of Business Development, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.): In this capacity, he is responsible for developing and executing all non-linear platform distribution for the Turner properties across broadband, interactive television and wireless. Quigley is based in Atlanta and reports directly to Coleman Breland, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Turner Network Sales (TNS), the domestic distribution, sales and marketing arm of TBS, Inc. A seasoned new media veteran, Quigley most recently served as vice president of business development and strategy for DMX MUSIC. In this role, he was responsible for the distribution of DMX MUSIC’s Asia Pacific pay TV music channels, execution of the company’s digital music business development plan and the sale of the company to a private investor group. Prior to joining DMX MUSIC, Quigley served as director of business development for Liberty Digital, Inc., and as manager of strategic planning for Time Warner, Inc. Quigley earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Rice University and a masters of business administration from Stanford University. Turner Network Sales (TNS), a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), is responsible for the sales and marketing of Turner Broadcasting’s 10 domestic basic cable networks – TBS, CNN, Headline News, TNT, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, CNN International, CNN en Español, Boomerang and truTV – to cable and satellite affiliates and special markets throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner company, creates and programs branded news, entertainment, animation and young adult media environments on television and other platforms for consumers around the world.

Robin Murdoch is a Senior Manager in Accenture’s Strategy practice working with executives in the communications, high tech and media sectors to develop strategies for digitally convergent products and services. In the content industry, Robin helps movie, television and music companies create and implement strategies to digitally enable their core businesses. For the communications sector, Robin works with wireless carriers to create consumer rich media services. He assists wireline telecommunication companies in the move to Internet Protocol (IP) based consumer services. Robin has also helped consumer electronics companies in the development and launch of consumer products including gaming platforms, smart phones and other home entertainment devices. Recently, Robin moved to Accenture’s Seattle office, from Accenture’s London office. He has been with Accenture since the mid 1990’s. Prior to Accenture, Robin worked for Ford Motor Company in product development and marketing. Robin holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Nottingham, England, in Manufacturing Engineering & Management and is a Professional Engineer with the IEE.

Stephen Condon, Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, Verisign: Stephen Condon brings more than 20 years of marketing experience to Verisign from the advertising, entertainment and technology industries. His primary role as Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, is to establish a leadership position for Verisign in the Media and Entertainment marketplace. His responsibilities include strategic marketing, marketing communications , tradeshow strategy, and packaging solutions specifically for the Media and Entertainment marketplace. Condon commenced his career in advertising working for J. Walter Thompson and Chiat/Day on leading brands such as Kraft Foods and NutraSweet. His advertising career introduced him to the high technology entertainment business when he worked on the hugely successful launch of DIRECTV. He later joined DIRECTV, as Senior Director of Marketing and was responsible for program marketing and subscriber acquisition promotions. In 1998 Condon moved from delivering video over satellite to delivering video on the Internet and joined INTERVU as Vice President of Marketing where he lead strategic marketing efforts and marketing communications up until the Akamai acquisition. Since then, Condon has held various senior technology marketing positions including Chief Marketing Officer of Intertainer, which was one of the first online video delivery portals. Most recently he was Vice President of Marketing for broadband video ASP Entriq. He holds a bachelor's degree in business and has undertaken post graduate studies in Marketing at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Shahid Khan, Partner, Interactive Broadband (IBB) Consulting Group: Shahid Khan is an acclaimed thought leader and strategist in converging Media and Telecommunications industries, with expertise in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities based on disruptive technologies such as internet, broadband and wireless. Shahid is currently a Partner at Interactive Broadband (IBB) Consulting Group, LLC, THE premier boutique consulting firm serving Cable, Mobile, Media and Technology industries -- named #1 in Consulting Magazine’s Seven Small Jewels of Consulting in 2007. At IBB, Shahid advises top management at leading clients such as Sony Entertainment, Showtime, PBS Kids Sprout, FEARnet, Smithsonian Networks, Time Warner Cable and Comcast on Digital Strategy, New Product/Service Development and Operational Optimization initiatives. Prior to joining IBB, Shahid was a Managing Director at BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting), responsible for leading BearingPoint’s Entertainment and Information Services industry practice, serving clients such as Warner Music Group, Major League Baseball, Reuters, Thomson, Moody’s and Rodale. Prior to that, he was a Partner at IBM Global Services in Communication Industry, where he served clients such as Viacom, Time Warner, Bertelsmann, etc. Previously, Shahid held consulting and industry positions at leading firms, including, ZEFER, Deloitte and McGraw-Hill. Shahid holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and is a Fellow at University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He has also completed executive programs at Massachussetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. He has published numerous white papers and articles and is often quoted in leading publications such as the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. He is a frequent speaker at leading conferences such as GITEX, CES, CTIA, the Media Summit and Digital Hollywood. Shahid grew up in Kuwait and now lives in New York.
