Advertising is finally discovering and finding its way into the next generation of technology media and entertainment industries. Broadband, mobile, IPTV, cable and interactive TV and of course in games, ads and branded information are being delivered in many forms. The technologies behind ad-insertion, ad serving, on-demand technologies and a full host of back-end management technologies are enabling greater creativity and enhanced options in the relationship between technology and advertising. In this session, we will open an ongoing conversation of how technologies are evolving, where they are heading and how the advertising and branding industries will gain further technology traction.

Sean Ryan, President and Founder, Meez: Ryan is the founder and CEO of Meez, a leading online avatar and game service. Ryan recently served as VP of music services at RealNetworks, where he managed the music division after selling Listen.com/Rhapsody to Real in August 2003. Previously as CEO of Listen, Ryan was charged with overseeing day-to-day operations and was responsible for the overall direction of the company. Prior to this, Ryan ran business development for online game company SegaSoft Networks, spent several years at the GAP helping launch the successful Old Navy clothing line, and worked at Chemical Bank. Ryan holds an M.B.A. from UCLA's Anderson Graduate School of Management and a B.A. from Columbia University.
Jeff Burkett, Director, Advertising Innovation, Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interact ive: Jeff Burkett is the Director of Advertising Innovation at Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive. He works closely with WPNIs editorial, marketing, sales and operations staff to leverage the potential of the Web, focusing on strategic initiatives that are well ahead of the curve. Under Jeffs leadership, WPNI has executed successful ad strategies for video, wireless, podcasting, widgets and other alternative platforms across all six properties. Self-described as just geeky enough to be dangerous, Burkett is passionate for the blogosphere, podcasting, and the overall democratization of the media. He strives to predict what will be big in the next twelve months and this helps him stay inventive in his work. Prior to arriving at WPNI in 2001, Burkett spent nine years in sales promoting internet-related products. At Navisite, he focused on fully-managed web hosting, and at XO Communications and Sawis, he sold Broadband Telecom Solutions. Burkett earned his Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from Radford University.
Tom Walker, Executive Director, Firstborn Multimedia: In his role as Executive Director in the Los Angeles office of Firstborn, Tom is focused on the Los Angeles offices strategic vision, existing and new client relationships and projects, resource allocation and marketing. After collaborating with Firstborn on projects for clients such as HBO in his role as Director of Interactive at advertising agency Venables Bell & Partners, he saw a great opportunity to be an integral part of the action and joined the leadership team of the Los Angeles office in 2007. Previous Interactive marketing leadership experience includes overseeing teams of more than 30 and managing multi-million dollar department and project budgets, including the above-mentioned Venables Bell & Partners, overseeing all aspects of Interactive including strategy, user experience, producers and production for clients such as HBO, Audi, 24 Hour Fitness-Fit Lite, Barclays, Slim Jim and Orville Redenbacher. Previous to that he spent four years at Williams-Sonoma, Inc. where he was Director of Internet Creative for the three Pottery Barn brands. Back in the agency world at AKQA, Tom headed up the print, broadcast, and Interactive production teams on clients like Palm, KNTV-NBC, Lucas Arts, and Visa, and at USWeb/CKS (aka Marchfirst) as VP of Project Management, creating groundbreaking online experiences for clients such as Apple, TiVo, Levi Strauss & Co, Mattel, Grupo Televisa (esmas.com), and Logitech. A San Francisco bay area native, Tom has left the foggy bay behind, shed his wind-breaker and made sunny Los Angeles his home.
Reuben Steiger, CEO and Founder, Millions of Us: Millions of Us is a company de dicated to helping businesses understand and harness the power of virtual worlds and online communities. Prior to founding Millions of Us, Steiger was the Evangelist for Linden Lab, creators of the 3-D virtual world Second Life. In that role he was responsible for business development efforts and bringing the first wave of corporations and commercial developers into Second Life. Until 2002, he was Chief Development Officer at OVEN Digital, where he helped build that company into the world's largest privately-owned Internet consultancy with 11 offices and 350 employees worldwide. Steiger holds a BA in English Literature from Brown University and lives in Marin County with his wife and two young children.
Brian Hecht, CEO, KikuCall: As the CEO of Kikucall, he has ignited mobile campaigns for brands such as Johnson & Johnson, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Absolut Vodka, Volvo, Samsung, Nike, among many others. He has also worked in traditional media and has held positions at The New Republic magazine, ABC News, and NBC News in London. He also holds a degree from Harvard and currently serves on the Board of Harvard Magazine. Brian is also an accomplished public speaker, and has made many television appearances, including Fox News Channel and CNN, and he would bring an insightful perspective on the mobile platform and digital marketing and advertising and how it effects culture and marketers. I think Brian would bring an engaging perspective on mobile marketing and how mobile is an effective and cost effective way to market in a digital world.
Mike Chapman, Editorial Director, eMarketer: Mike Chapman is responsible for a ll editorial research coverage, including daily articles, analyst reports and other special projects, as well as new product development. Mike is an experienced economist and publishing executive. He spent 18 years at the Economist Group10 years as an analyst and editor in the London office and eight years as the editor in chief and executive producer in the company's New Yorkbased electronic publishing division. During this period, Mike worked with a specialist team to transform the print business of the Economist Intelligence Unit into a global, online business intelligence service. Mike has an MSc in economics from London University.
Robert Haukoos, Media Director, Tuesday Creative: Robert Haukoos, Media Director for Tuesday Creative is an expert Marketing and Business Development Consultant with over 20 years experience. Tuesday Creative is an interactive advertising agency in Los Angeles whose clients include Universal and Disney Studios. Prior to joining Tuesday Creative, Bob was the President and founder of RJ Lauren, a marketing services company that created and managed national advertising campaigns for; American Express, Baseball Hall of Fame, Countrywide, ESPN, Fidelity, Hilton, Mattel, Poker Mountain, Time-Life, United Airlines, and many others. In 1994, Bob produced and booked the first television advertising campaign for an online stockbroker in both the U.S. and Europe. Before forming RJ Lauren, Haukoos was the VP of Programming and Production for FMS, an advertising agency specializing in direct response. At FMS Bob produced over 70 infomercials and the most successful financial-planning advertising campaign ever. Haukoos also has extensive experience in the Hollywood entertainment industry where he produced and coordinated advertising and promotions for over 160 television stations as Promotion Director for Group W Productions "Hour Magazine." He has also worked with ABC, CBS, NBC, the Minnesota Vikings, the National Hockey League and many top celebrities including: Tom Hanks, Demi Moore, John Forsythe, Robert Wagner, Superbowl Quarterback Joe Thiesmann and many others. Haukoos has studied advertising and marketing at UCLA and the University of Minnesota. He graduated with honors from the Department of Defense Information School and served as a Navy Journalist on the Armed Forces Radio Network in Guam.
