His primary responsibility within Loopt is driving the product vision, assembling a passionate team to realize that vision and making sure people have fun while they're at it. At Stanford University, Sam focused on computer security and machine learning. He also helped develop a patented system for navigation for one of the world's first autonomous helicopter navigation systems, a task for which his experience as a pilot of small aircraft was good training. Sam raised seed financing from Paul Graham's prestigious incubator called Y-Combinator to pay for a summer of development of the Loopt product, and soon thereafter raised $5M from Sequoia and NEA, two of the most prestigious and successful venture capital firms in the world. He is currently on leave from the computer science program.

Paul Hurley, founder and CEO of Ideeli™: Paul has more than 20 years’ experience solving the problem at the crux of brand marketing today: How to use technology to connect with and influence the behavior of large numbers of customers and prospects? In a succession of entrepreneurial companies, beginning in 1989, Hurley has united service delivery with marketing and proved that integrated advertising can be performed in a manner benefiting both customer and brand. Hurley’s first company, Cypress Research Corporation, combined e-commerce with embedded upgrade technology years in advance of the Internet. Cypress Shopper, a component of the company’s MegaPhone software for Macs and PCs, shipped over 10 million copies in 23 countries. Hurley’s second company, Aveo, invented the now-pervasive concept of pre-emptive technical support, and their products were adopted by Hewlett Packard, Gateway, Dell, Kensington and Logitech. Hurley’s third company, Alset, Inc., has helped leading brands such as Best Buy and Micro Warehouse use the Internet to simultaneously improve service and marketing. In 2007, Hurley launched Ideeli, the first red-rope online shopping community that connects luxury brands with the consumers who covet them - via computer, email or cell phone. Paul Hurley is co-inventor for two US patents, has raised a total of over $50 million in venture funding and is a Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute.
