What the future holds in store for the short form online video is anyones guess but it will surely not disappear anytime soon. In fact, it will likely grow in terms of product and viewership. With that in mind, executives in the industry must evaluate and understand the online video form as a business, as a product to invest in and nurture. Rob Barnett, President and CEO, My Damn Channel: My Damn Channel is the brainchild of President and CEO Rob Barnett. Barnett has been disrupting media for over three decades creating groundbreaking new programs and productions in entertainment, pop culture, politics, and music. Barnett has produced new and traditional media with hundreds of popular personalities, including President Clinton, The Rolling Stones, Oprah Winfrey, Bono, Martin Scorsese, Johnny Rotten and more. My Damn Channel establishes a new paradigm in the digital entertainment medium. Barnett's experience in production and programming drove him to create a compelling new studio model giving talent unprecedented control over their own content with new media mass distribution. Barnett managed key divisions in programming and production for over 11 years at MTV and VH1. He produced news, specials, and series for both outlets and oversaw all network programming. At VH1, he was VP of Program Planning for the launch of iconic hit shows including Behind the Music, the program that fueled VH1s ratings turnaround. Barnett worked as an independent producer for projects including Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues, a multi-part, PBS film series; Staffers, a reality TV series on politics; and Inside the Bubble, a documentary feature film on the 2004 U.S. Presidential campaign. From 1978 to 1988, Barnett worked at rock radio stations in Boston, Dallas, and Los Angeles. He was on-air talent in all three markets, and the Program Director in Boston and Dallas. Barnett returned to radio from 2004-2006. He was President of Programming for CBS, where he oversaw content development for more than 179 stations, and launched new formats in 30 markets.
Sean Mills, President, The Onion: Prior to joining The Onion in 2002, Mr. Mills was the founding partner of Adgile Interactive, an interactive ad agency based in San Francisco. Over the past five years, The Onion and its sister site, The AV Club, have grown their monthly readership to 6 million readers, moved to daily web publishing, launched a sports section, and created a top ranked podcast- The Onion Radio News. The Onion News Network successfully launched in the Spring of 2007, marking the comedy site's first move into video in its 20 year history. It was recently named one of iTunes top podcasts of 2007.
George Strompolos, Content Partnerships Manager, YouTube: As the Content Partnerships Manager at YouTube, George Strompolos oversees partnership efforts with YouTube users and new media companies who create original content for the web. In late 2007, George developed the YouTube Partner Program, which enables YouTube users to apply for revenue-sharing partnerships online. Prior to joining YouTube, George did content acquisition for Google Video and Google News. As a technology enthusiast with a passion for entertainment, George began his career with business development roles at WIRED Magazine and CNET Networks. George graduated from UC Berkeley in 2002 with degrees in Mass Communications and Business Administration. His favorite YouTube video is "Battle at Kruger".
Jane Hu, Vuguru / Tornante: Jane Hu heads the business side of Vuguru, the new media studio founded by Michael Eisner's The Tornante Company. At Vuguru, she manages the strategy, business development, marketing, distribution, and advertising for high-quality content produced specifically for new media platforms. Vuguru's inaugural show, Prom Queen, approaches its final episode on June 20th after a successful 80-episode run. Jane has been working at Tornante since its inception in October 2005, investing in and incubating early stage media companies. Prior to joining Tornante, Jane worked in Corporate Strategic Planning at Disney, and she received a Masters and Bachelors from Stanford University.
Jimmy Jellinek is Vice President of Entertainment of Heavy.com. Formerly, he served as editor and branding expert for the worlds largest general-interest mens magazines, including: FHM, Stuff Magazine and, most recently, Maxim Magazine. Before joining Dennis Publishing, he was the editor-in-chief of Complex magazine. He began his career working at Rolling Stone, then moved on to Details magazine and FHM magazine. Over the past 10 years, he has written in-depth features, plus crime, service, and travel articles for the likes of Rolling Stone, Men's Journal, The New York Times Magazine, New York Magazine, New York Post, The Face, GQ, Wired, and Time Out New York.
Lori H. Schwartz, Senior Vice President, Director of Emerging Media: As Senior Vice President and Director of the Interpublic Emerging Media Lab, a center for marketing innovation located in Los Angeles, Lori provides consultation and solution recommendations for the latest in broadband, wireless and emerging media for the Interpublic groups global client roster, as well as facilitating emerging media upfronts and exclusive partnerships for the company and its clients. She has worked with a number of clients including Microsoft, Avery Dennison, Intel, Nestle and Sony. Prior to serving as Director of the Lab, Lori served as an interactive/new media producer at McCann Worldgroup, providing interactive expertise for the agencys Los Angeles client base. She worked with clients to create original content solutions across multiple channels. Lori also facilitated partnerships with entertainment, sports and other content providers, and served as the agency representative on all issues pertaining to emerging media. An active participant in many industry organizations, Lori is a member of the Producers Guild of Americas New Media Council and has led a project for the American Film Institute's Digital Content Lab. She is also an executive committee member of the Interactive Peer Group for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She participates in a number of advanced advertising standardizations groups and is a highly regarded industry speaker. When she is not working with clients, Lori can be found on stage in Hollywood, occasionally performing with improvisational comedy theaters.

Cristian Cussen is Director of Marketing & Content for MySpaceTV. With a focus on content acquisition, development, and marketing, Cristian has forged a number of high-profile partnerships with producers, brands, and media companies, and continues to concentrate on increasing the range and quality of video content available to MySpace users. Since joining the company, Cristian has worked with Michael Eisner on his original web-series Prom Queen, and developed and overseen Rules of the Game with internationally-renowned author Neil Strauss, and Roommates, a scripted reality series, for which he also secured sponsorship from Ford. These three series alone have garnered over 25,000,000 views on MySpace. Cristian is also an executive producer on Paul Brogan, a comedic web show featured on-air before the Super Bowl, and Special Delivery, a hidden-camera comedy sponsored by Cheetos to be released in late February, 2008. Prior to joining MySpace, Cristian served as Director of Development at Scott Rudin Productions, overseeing the companys literary department and acquiring film rights to books, articles, and plays. At Scott Rudin Productions, Cristian worked on a variety of movies ranging from THE HOURS to SCHOOL OF ROCK to TEAM AMERICA. Cristian has also worked internationally on the last two James Bond movies: as the Spanish language interpreter on DIE ANOTHER DAY and as a location manager on CASINO ROYALE. Cristian has also worked at Morgan Stanley, and at the World Bank in Mexico City. Cristian received his B.A. in Economics from Stanford University, and lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Erica Aris, an art consultant.
Daniel P. Harris, CEO & Founder, MEDIAPASS Network: Mr. Harris has been at the forefront of Digital Lifestyle for nearly 10 years. After the .com bubble burst, Mr. Harris saw a unique opportunity to connect with Gen Y X audiences through online music. Prior to founding MediaPass Network, Daniel has long been an early adopter and industry trendsetter in the areas of technology, content, and community. Daniel was part of the team that released Madonnas 1st approved download on the Internet and later secured the rights and exclusively distributed Internet video webcasts for the most coveted independent live events throughout North America and Europe. Daniel has produced and or distributed hundreds of individual live-on-demand webcasts plus numerous marquee live events including: 2002 2003 2004 American Dance Music Awards, 2001 2002 2003 Ultra Music Festival, UKs MOBO Awards, Farm Aid, and Voodoo Festival. This lifestyle credibility resulted in MediaPass Network being selected by Microsoft Corporation to participate in the Beta Launch of Windows Media 9 Series in September 2002, serve as the national press launch partner for the Portable Media Center in 2005, and serve as a windows vista beta partner in 2006. Previously, Mr. Harris operated his own production company where he initiated business relationships and executed licensing agreements with clients including: Adidas, ABC Sports, CNNSI, and Fox Sports World. During this time, Mr. Harris was a Brandon Tartikoff Award Finalist (top industry new comer) in each of his two years of eligibility. Prior to relocating to Los Angeles in 1996, Daniel was Co-General Manager of the New Orleans A League Professional Soccer Franchise where he tripled revenue and doubled attendance each season. Daniel managed all media partnerships, community outreach programs, and key accounts including: Coca Cola, Cox Cable, Gatorade, Pizza Hut, Snickers Brand, and WWL Radio. A native of Washington DC, Mr. Harris holds a B.S. Degree in Marketing from Loyola University of New Orleans.
