Track II: Internet Video, Advertising & Marketing: The Next Generation of Consumer Reach Video on the Internet has finally passed the critical threshold of acceptance by the advertising and marketing communities as a more than viable alternative to traditional media. Internet delivered video has not only entered the advertising space, it has invaded it and in a very short number of years, Internet delivered video will be a dominant entertainment and communications consumer medium. The scary part for traditional media, Internet delivered video may end up on a PC, a mobile device or on a TV and for the advertising and marketing industries, an emerging and maturing delivery system to an ever elusive audience is exactly what they are looking for. Bob Bahramipour, VP of Business Development, YuMe: Bob Bahramipour, Vice President of Business Development, YuMe: Bob has 15 years of experience at major media & internet companies, as well as start-ups. Most recently, as a senior member of the Yahoo! Search team, Bob managed the toolbar business and was responsible for overseeing product, distribution, and partnerships. Prior to Yahoo!, Bob served as the Director of Business Development at 3721 Technology Co Ltd., a Chinese search engine which was acquired by Yahoo in 2003. Bob was also a co-founder & VP of Business Development for Switchouse Inc, an online marketplace for consumers. Prior to Switchouse, Bob held of variety of positions in Volpe Brown Whelan & Companys M&A advisory group, within SBCs (now AT&T) corporate development team, and at Braxton Associates, a boutique strategy consulting firm. Bob received his BS from Georgetown Universitys School of Foreign Service and attended Northwesterns J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Business.
Waikit Lau, Co-Founder and President/COO, ScanScout: Waikit has extensive experience building emerging media businesses and technologies. In his role as Co-Founder and President/COO of ScanScout, Waikit leads the vision and growth of the companys business operations. Prior to co-founding ScanScout, Waikit was the Director of Strategy and Business Development at Scientific Atlanta (a division of Cisco) where he helped lead product strategy for next-generation media delivery platforms. Before Scientific Atlanta, he was an investor at Bessemer Venture Partners, investing in and working with early-stage technology companies. Prior to serving as a VC, Waikit co-founded Photo.net, one of the largest online photo-databases and served as its VP of Product and Business Development. He has also consulted to the CTO and COO of Technology at Merrill Lynch in the technology strategy and operation areas. Waikit holds Bachelors degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Finance from MIT and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is based in Boston, MA.
Jeff Karnes, VP Marketing & Products - VoloMedia Inc.: Jeff has over a decade of experience in product and marketing focusing on the emergence of digital media both within the enterprise and direct to consumer. Most recently he led the products efforts at Yahoo! launching their video portal and managing their video search, audio search, image search, and podcasting products. Prior to that, he was at WebEx heading up product for their web seminar and audio/video presentation services. Jeff also led the product and marketing efforts at Virage, an early pioneer and innovator in video indexing and search. In addition, Jeff worked at Cinebase Software (renamed eMotion) leading the product in the category of digital asset management. Jeff holds a BA in Economics and Sociology from Bucknell University and is a board member for the Cinequest Film Institute. He's also been known to log a few running miles and practice his golf swing.
Marty Roberts VP, Marketing, thePlatform: Marty Roberts' diverse leadership background includes ten years of product management and marketing. His experience developing strategy, building relationships with development organizations, and creating new products and services helped increase the customer base and profitability for organizations such as GiftCertificates.com and RealNetworks. Since joining thePlatform in 2006, Marty has contributed to the company's success by updating the messaging, redesigning the web site, launching several successful products and increasing the brand awareness through advertising and PR.
Brett Wilson, Co-founder and CEO, TubeMogul: Brett leads the strategic direction for TubeMogul. He spent the first three years of his career as a consultant for Accenture. Next, he founded and led YouCanSave.com, a profitable e-commerce company that obtained over $69 million in revenue and was successfully acquired. Brett is undefeated at Risk, is the reigning Foosball champion at TubeMogul and a lousy (but aspiring) windsurfer, sailor and investor. He is also married and has two beautiful children. Brett received his MBA from the UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business.
John Keefer, Business Development, CraveOnline: John Keefer is currently responsible for affiliations and aiding in the building of strategic partnerships and possible acquisitions for the CraveOnline, SheKnows and TeenCrunch brands. He was formerly President of RK Land Development Corporation, a merger and acquisition firm that consulted for numerous private trusts. Prior to this, he served as President to Nugier Press Company, where he oversaw the development of new product lines. These new lines resulted in the firm being awarded the OEM supplier designation to multiple Fortune 500 companies. He holds a BA in Economics from Drew University.
