While the unknowns in the mobile TV & video universe may not be as daunting and experimental as was the first generation of TV in the 1950s, the challenge of creating and producing for mobile TV and video is still to be present at the beginning of a new frontier. Edward Skolarus, Vice President, Business & Operations, Fox Reality Channel, News Corporation: Edward Skolarus serves as Vice President, Business Operations for Fox Reality where he oversees business development and emerging media applications for the year-old service. He likewise manages Fox Realitys program licensing and content ventures for on-air and other platforms, together with Fox Networks Group support teams. Since joining Fox Reality in January of 2006, he has acquired and launched many top reality programs for on-air and digital media platforms. He also helped launch Fantasy Reality Challenge, an on-line fantasy game for reality television fans and initiated Fox Networks Groups first interactive viewer experience, utilizing Fox Realitys daily "Reality Remix." Viewers can use their cell phones to answer questions, participate in polls and other features in real-time synchronization with the series. Skolarus also launched "Reality Remix" podcasts, available through www.foxreality.com, www.itunes.com and www.yahoo.com. Mr. Skolarus joins Fox Reality from GoldPocket Interactive Inc., where he served as division Senior Vice President responsible for distribution, sales and marketing. During his five year tenure with GoldPocket, Mr. Skolarus branded and launched the company within the entertainment market, significantly grew cable/satellite/mobile distribution, assisted in acquiring digital media and mobile companies and launched interactive and mobile applications for leading broadcasters such as CBS, HSN, NBC, GSN, FOX, NFL and DirecTV. Prior to GoldPocket, Mr. Skolarus served as COO and VP of Marketing at BadaBiz Inc., an Internet content collaboration company specializing in Digital Rights Management and security for content distribution. Prior to BadaBiz, Mr. Skolarus was the CEO and co-founder of RenderView Software Inc., a leading digital content collaboration and communication company. Skolarus began his career as a lead systems architect and software engineer for Ford and Chrysler motors developing large-scale enterprise software systems. Originally from Michigan, Skolarus graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from Eastern Michigan University. In addition, did post-graduate studies at Wayne State University in medicine.
Marie Jacobson, Executive Vice President, Programming and Production, International Networks, Sony Pictures Television International: Marie Jacobson serves as Sony Pictures Television Internationals (SPTI) executive vice president, programming and production, international networks. Based at SPTIs headquarters in Culver City, California, Jacobson is charged with the overall program strategy of all Sony owned and majority-owned channel investments. She oversees program and format acquisitions, original series production, program development and all program planning for the international networks group. She is responsible for delivering launch strategies for all new network ventures as they pertain to programming as well as sourcing the highest-caliber Sony and third-party programming on offer for the benefit of SPTIs international networks. Jacobson also has oversight of digital programming for SPTI. This includes the management of mobile and digital program development and production, mobile games and the strategic planning and implementation of SPTIs mobile networks. Jacobson also oversaw the acquisition and deployment of Afterworld, SPTIs first multi-platform content initiative spanning TV, web, wireless and gaming. Besides being responsible for acquiring the rights to many scripted series from both SPTI and other studios for broadcast on SPTIs international networks, Jacobson has led the team responsible for acquiring rights to produce local-language versions of third party formats such as The Amazing Race (AXN Asia), Big Brother (SET India), Pop Idol (SET India and SET Latin America), Yo Soy Betty, La Fea (SET India) and Dancing With The Stars (SET India). Jacobson previously served as senior vice president, programming and production, international networks, since 2003. Prior to that she was senior vice president, programming, international networks, since 2000. Prior to joining SPTI, Jacobson served as chief executive of TV1, the FOXTEL AUSTAR Pay-TV channel partnership of Sony, Universal and CBS Paramount in Australia. She assumed the CEO position after serving as the channels head of programming and acquisitions. Before TV1, Jacobson served as director, programming and special projects for Comedy Central in New York. She joined Comedy Central as manager, program planning and scheduling. Jacobson also held positions at Columbia TriStar Television Distribution (now Sony Pictures Television) in Los Angeles, including manager, sales administration, and analyst, television research. Jacobsons career began as a television research associate for Paramount Domestic Television in Los Angeles.
Ray DeRenzo, Senior Vice President, Product, Programming and Marketing, MobiTV: Ray is the senior vice president in charge of product, programming and marketing for MobiTV, Inc. Throughout his career DeRenzo has been at the forefront developing new products and new markets based on emerging technologies. He has led international expansion efforts for several technology and wireless service ventures. Prior to joining MobiTV, DeRenzo was the vice president of business development at Telephia a leading provider of competitive benchmarking research and consulting services focused on the global wireless industry. He also has served as vice president-CMO for Vodafones Global Platform and Internet Services group which developed and deployed the enabling technology behind Vodafone Live! In addition, DeRenzo has held senior positions at AirTouch Communications, PG&E New Ventures, Nokia Broadband Access, SBC Communications and the Pacific Telesis Group. He holds an MBA in International Business from St. Marys College of California.
Dan Hsieh is the Senior Business Advisor to ION Media Networks, Inc., as well as President of MTC Services LLC, and is a strategic advisor to leading media and technology companies, focusing on developing new content-related business. As part of his work for his clients, he has also helped form cross-industry initiatives, including: the partnership of leading Hollywood studios and mobile phone companies to develop and launch a new DRM platform that allows any digital content to be played on any device with any service operator; and an alliance of 900 U.S. television station owners to facilitate the development mobile digital broadcasting. In addition, he has been advising a leading private equity company for investments in the media and communications sector. He is on the advisory board of Walden International, Telegent Systems, and Tavi, Inc., as well as a member of the Business Advisory Work Group of the Open Mobile Video Coalition. Mr. Hsieh was formerly Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy, Business Development, and Technology for The Walt Disney Company. Along with his role in helping form the companys long-term strategy, Mr. Hsieh was responsible for developing new businesses for Disney, resulting in strategic investments of over $400 million in various initiatives. Areas of focus included work in Disneys overall strategy in digital content, corporate branding, CRM; new initiatives in content distribution and transportation; as well as work in various M&A activities. Prior to Disney, Mr. Hsieh was a partner at William Kent International, a management consulting firm that specialized in developing international strategies for multinationals, where he was responsible for overseeing the companys overall strategy practice, as well as its joint ventures in China and India. Mr. Hsiehs experience included a wide range of consumer product industries, including packaged food, housewares, athletic equipment, and appliances, as well as industrial product industries, including aerospace, machine tools, industrial automation, and construction products. Mr. Hsieh earned his BS at Harvard University, and his MBA from the University of Chicago.
Matthew Feldman, President and CEO, Versaly Entertainment: He founded Versaly in 2000 and helped launch Paramount into the mobile entertainment world with Star Trek and Endemol USA with Fear Factor. Continuing as an industry leader, Versaly ignited the mastertone remix market with Sir Mix-A-Lots Baby Got Back Remix hitting Gold in its first 6 weeks. Versalys current focus is Vmbc.tv (Versaly Mobile Broadcasting Company), a mobile video syndication network that currently operates 6 mobile video-on-demand channels in the USA, including Vmbc.tvs flagship channel, Fast Lane. In addition to his corporate duties, Mr. Feldman works directly with Versalys major brand partners. Prior to Versaly Entertainment, he previously founded, managed and successfully sold two companies. Feldman holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and a M.S. in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Frank Chindamo is the President and Chief Creative Officer of Fun Little Movies. FLM specializes in the development, production and distribution of original content for global distribution on mobile phones, the Internet and portable devices. Frank Chindamo received his Film B.F.A. from N.Y.U. and his Screenwriting & Producing M.F.A. from Columbia University.
