As the entertainment industry enters its next, albeit yet to be determined, phase of production and distribution – where digital technologies take a stronger and more significant role – the basic relationship among power players is likely to take new and unique forms. For the sake of discussion, we might call this the New Hollywood Equation, where content owners, talent, talent agents and the new distribution channels all stake out new territory and attempt to find new formula for dealing with the next generation of Hollywood. In this session, we bring together some of the best informed creative executives in the field.

Perry Simon, Sezmi Chief Content Officer, Sezmi: Perry Simon is chief content officer at Sezmi, overseeing the company’s programming and advertising activities. Before joining Sezmi, formerly known as Building B, he was founder and president of Shore View Entertainment, a multi-faceted entertainment company based at Paramount Television. Shore View developed and produced programming for a variety of television outlets, including CBS, NBC, UPN, SHOWTIME, FBC, FX, USA, SPIKE-TV and Nick-At-Nite. Simon also served as executive producer on USA Network’s popular science-fiction series, THE 4400. Before that, Simon served ten years as president of Viacom Productions, where he was responsible for all studio operations and production volume of $200-$300 million/year. He managed the development and production of programming targeted for the broadcast and cable networks, first-run syndication, home video and children’s markets. Prior to Viacom Productions, Simon spent 13 years as an integral part of NBC’s programming, scheduling, and marketing team, rising to the post of executive vice president, Prime-Time Programs, NBC Entertainment, overseeing all aspects of NBC’s prime-time schedule. During his tenure at NBC, he helped develop and supervise some of the network’s most successful and enduring series, including: "The Cosby Show," "Cheers," "The Golden Girls," Law and Order," L.A. Law," "Miami Vice," "Mad About You," "Frasier," and "Seinfeld." Other activities include serving as Special Advisor to YouTube, Inc., content developer at Electronic Arts, and a member of the Board of Directors of Discreet Logic, Inc. Simon holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.

Bambi Francisco is the co-founder and CEO of Vator.tv: Vator was a side project of hers that was a mere concept with four video pitches in her Webmail box in June 2006, while she was a columnist/correspondent at Dow Jones MarketWatch. She left in April 2007 and launched Vator.tv in June 2007. At Dow Jones, Bambi covered Internet trends and investments across the public and private sectors. She was a morning business anchor for KPIX (the local CBS affiliate in San Francisco), and reported on MarketWatch's business magazine show on CBS. In the 'mid-90s, she worked as a producer at CNN's financial news network, where she created, launched and produced business shows, including one on IPOs and new ideas.

Mariana Danilovic, Managing Director, Hollywood Portfolio, LLC: Ms. Danilovic is the Founder and Managing Director of Hollywood Portfolio, LLC, a developer, owner and operator of digital media companies. The Company focuses on cross-platform incubation and acceleration, assistance in securing funding from institutional investors, corporate and business development, content aggregation, branded entertainment, and revenue generating activities for digital media ventures. Through Hollywood Portfolio, Ms. Danilovic launched and helped develop several digital media companies and serves on the Advisory Board of ReframeIt, Pixsy, and CozmoMedia. Ms. Danilovic was the EVP Business Development for a digital signage company, NTN Buzztime, Inc. (AMEX:NTN) and VP Business Development, Content Aggregation and Programming for MediaZone, broadband video company owned by NASPERS media conglomerate. She also founded and directed the Digital Media Incubator at KPMG LLP, which developed about two dozen digital media companies. The companies Ms. Danilovic helped develop received institutional funding from KPCB, Sequoia Capital, Hummer-Winblad, Constellation Partners, Softbank, North Star Ventures, HP, and Intel. At KPMG, Ms. Danilovic managed the digital media M&A transactions and facilitated the sale of the Well to the Salon prior to its initial public offering. Prior to joining KPMG, Ms. Danilovic headed business development for Peter Guber’s Mandalay Entertainment. She also was part of the management team for the $60 million fund at Sony Pictures Entertainment that made investments in media companies worldwide. Ms. Danilovic also worked with Michael Milken’s Knowledge Exchange and at the Twentieth Century Fox International Television Group. Prior to attending business school, she worked in Product Management as well as Mergers and Acquisitions for Transamerica and SunAmerica. She previously served on the Board of Directors of Tim Draper’s Zone Club, the California Culture Net, VIC Network, and was a member of former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan's Digital Coast Roundtable. Mariana earned a Masters in Business Administration from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from University of California, San Diego.

Mark J. Kapczynski, Chief Operating Officer, Kontrol Media: Mark Kapczynski has a successful track record as a serial entrepreneur, chief executive and media industry expert. His current venture, Kontrol Media Corp., is an idea incubator for startups and senior professionals in the media and technology markets including Web 2.0, mobile, and television. Prior to that, he was founder and CEO of MESoft, a media and entertainment software company, for which Kapczynski raised two rounds of seed and venture capital funding exceeding $8MM. Under his leadership, the company also grew its distribution to a global level and partnered with leading IT companies, such as IBM, Sun and AMD, and media companies that include Avid, Ascent Media and Sony. Additionally, he received a patent for a digital media workflow process. From 1995 to 2002, Kapczynski worked at Microsoft Corporation as their Director of Worldwide Media & Entertainment Solutions Group. During that time, he worked with numerous digital media and internet start-ups such as Homestore (now Move.com), Movielink, and MeTV. Mark Kapczynski got his first taste at being an entrepreneur in 1993 when he founded Digital Genesis-a pioneer in the internet/e-commerce space-which was sold to publicly-traded Netgateway, Inc. (NGWY, now IIG) three years later. Mr. Kapczynski graduated from UCLA film school and continues to be active in multiple industry associations that span media, mobile telecom, technology, and Internet Web 2.0. In his free time, Mr. Kapczynski enjoys car racing and playing the drums.
