Internet delivered video has not only entered the advertising space, it has invaded it and in a very short number of years, Internet delivered video will be a dominant entertainment and communications consumer medium. The scary part for traditional media, Internet delivered video may end up on a PC, a mobile device or on a TV and for the advertising and marketing industries, an emerging and maturing delivery system to an ever elusive audience is exactly what they are looking for. Michael Nevins, Director of Mobile, North America, GroupM Interaction: With more than 18 years experience in technology, media and entertainment, Michael has led numerous successful B-to-B and consumer-facing initiatives. His focus has been on helping brands, advertisers, content creators and publishers to engage audiences through creative application of emerging media platforms. Before being named Director of GroupM Mobile, Michael held the position of VP Sales at Crisp Wireless where he helped launch over seventy mobile web properties for major media and entertainment companies. Michael was responsible for building and managing an impressive major account portfolio which includes Gannett Digital/USA Today, Washington Post, Newsweek, Tribune Interactive, Business Week, Getty Images, VML, Mindshare Interaction, NPR, NBC Universal TV, Bravo, The Weather Channel, A&E Television Networks, Discovery Communications, E! Entertainment Television and Cars.com. Prior to Crisp Wireless, Michael was Director of Industry Relations at Muze Inc, where he managed relationships with senior executives at music labels, home video distributors and book publishers. Earlier at Muze, Michael established the operations of Muzes music preview technology and oversaw its wide deployment at retail compact disc and book chains. As former principal of Traction Media Group, Michael launched projects for marketers including V2, Maxell, Subway and Nikon. Previously, Michael managed major label recording artists, was a key player in the development of two-time Grammy winning/RIAA Platinum recording artist, Living Colour and produced music and sound design for advertising and television
Marty Roberts VP, Marketing, thePlatform: Marty Roberts' diverse leadership background includes ten years of product management and marketing. His experience developing strategy, building relationships with development organizations, and creating new products and services helped increase the customer base and profitability for organizations such as GiftCertificates.com and RealNetworks. Since joining thePlatform in 2006, Marty has contributed to the company's success by updating the messaging, redesigning the web site, launching several successful products and increasing the brand awareness through advertising and PR.
Kelly Twohig, Digital Activation Director, Starcom USA: Media planning and buying agency Starcom USA, a full-service agency within Starcom MediaVest Group, has named Kelly Twohig to senior vice president/digital activation director of the agency. Effective immediately, Twohig will oversee the agencys digital activation efforts, through which the company invests marketer dollars in digital media partnerships that deliver powerful and groundbreaking brand messages. Twohig will continue to operate out of the Chicago office, and will report to President/Chief Activation Officer Chris Boothe. In our efforts to become a more digital-centric agency something essential to our future, and the future of our clients we need to have the best and the brightest talent to keep us on the cutting edge, said Boothe. Kellys experience in this emerging field is impeccable, and she has proven that her background in strategy, consulting and technology can improve the way we all deliver on our digital promise. Before her promotion, Twohig served as SVP/strategy director at the agency, managing the communications planning assignment for Procter & Gambles Fabric Care category. She was responsible for managing holistic communication plans across all marketing contacts and developing contact strategies. Previously, Kelly spent six years leading acquisition marketing for the U.S. Army and Disneys Parks & Resort at Publicis Groupe sister agency Arc. There, Kelly led the development of the digital and direct response strategies and plans. She also managed the plan activation, reporting and data analytics/modeling. At prior employer Mobium Creative Group, she gained experience in database management and marketing. I am pleased to help pioneer Starcoms efforts to advance its stellar digital leadership, Twohig said. Fred McIntyre, Senior Vice President, AOL: Fred McIntyre is Senior Vice President of AOL Video, where he directs the team that leads and executes AOL's comprehensive strategy for online video, WinAmp and AOL Radio. McIntyre joined AOL in 1999 and has worked in a variety of capacities, including most recently Vice President of Programming and Media Networks for AOL for Broadband. He also spent several years as Vice President of Business Development for AOL Entertainment where his responsibilities included mapping and implementing the strategy that established AOL as a premier online destination and industry partner for Games, Movies, Music, Radio, Television, and Ticketing. Prior to AOL, McIntyre held senior management positions at Spinner.com, VIBE Magazine and SPIN Magazine.
Jane Hu, Vuguru / Tornante: Jane Hu heads the business side of Vuguru, the new media studio founded by Michael Eisner's The Tornante Company. At Vuguru, she manages the strategy, business development, marketing, distribution, and advertising for high-quality content produced specifically for new media platforms. Vuguru's inaugural show, Prom Queen, approaches its final episode on June 20th after a successful 80-episode run. Jane has been working at Tornante since its inception in October 2005, investing in and incubating early stage media companies. Prior to joining Tornante, Jane worked in Corporate Strategic Planning at Disney, and she received a Masters and Bachelors from Stanford University.
Kelly Egan, VP of Business Development of Minneapolis and Tokyo, Swarmcast - He is responsible for all facets of Swarmcasts business development and sales activities. Formerly the director of entertainment strategy at Best Buy, Kelly developed strategic initiatives targeting new media distribution platforms, mobile entertainment, and digital content opportunities. He has been active in the field of media and entertainment for more than ten years, and has worked in both creative and management roles in the film, music, television and interactive entertainment industries. Prior to joining Best Buy, Kelly founded the international film and television distributor, Kegan Entertainment, where he led both property acquisition and territory sales responsibilities and completed numerous worldwide distribution agreements at the MIPCOM and MIPTV markets in Cannes. Previously, Kelly was an associate in the Media and Entertainment practice at IBM Global Strategy Consulting. Specializing in Digital Film and Interactive Television, he was instrumental in developing and executing digital strategies for numerous global entertainment conglomerates, film studios and music labels. Prior to IBM, Kelly led Internet Strategy at video game publisher, Activision. While at Activision, he supervised the online marketing for many blockbuster titles, including: Quake II, Interstate-76 and Dark Reign. Kelly has been a frequent speaker on media and entertainment topics at numerous universities and industry events. He is also a board director for IFP North (Independent Feature Project), supporting independent film and is a member of the Mobile Entertainment Forum, a global organization leading development of mobile entertainment. Kelly began his career as a television producer at Chicago PBS affiliate, WTTW, producing the movie review program Sneak Previews and WorldStage Chicago, which received the Emmy in 1995 for Best Musical Special. He holds a BA in Mass Media Studies and Film from Loyola University of Chicago and an MBA from The Thunderbird School of Global Management. Kelly has previously spoken at Digital Hollywood in April 2005, January 2006, March 2006 and June 2007. He also spoke at Ad Tech in October 2005 and iHollywood Mobile Entertainment Summit in April 2006.
Nic Covey, Director of Insights, Nielsen Mobile: Nic Covey is responsible for thought leadership at Nielsen Mobile, the worlds leading provider of consumer research to the telecom and mobile media markets. Nic previously led wireless and video game analysis for The Nielsen Company and his research on digital media and their natives has been widely quoted from the Wall Street Journal to the Financial Times. Before returning to Nielsen in 2005 to manage Nielsens analysis of sports sponsorships, Nic held roles in strategic research and marketing with HGTV and The Food Network, ESPN and Nielsen Media Research. Nic holds a BA in History and Communication from Denison University in Ohio.
